It depends, its usually $7-100 or even more! It depends on where you choose to go! I never paid for them >_<

Its generally cheap unless you do an overnight stay...then you get a room and all which brings it up to 200 or so

you don't have to shower first at most onsen...you usually just poor water on yourself.

@TwilightsSerenity I have been in Japan for five months now, and I STILL haven't been to either an onsen or a sentou. I'm so afraid that people will stare, because I look so different from the japanese. I'm really tall, blonde, pale and I'm, well, big. Will people stare?

People will stare! Not to sound freaky or anything lol But don't be embarrassed about it! If anything, take it as a compliment! Its awkward but they find westerners beautiful lol
