in fact, in crysis there is a very large environment, real time shadows of every existing object, and high quality textures plus parallax map, wind and living plants.

in fact you should play the game at least at medium settings and 40 fps for you to see why this game is not over rated.

red faction have very high physics but that's all (a closed and static environmental asks very very less power).

note that crysis also have good physics ;) and physics asks minor power with a 3ghz+ cpu...

with that you could play it on the highest settings no problem. I have a single gefore 7900gs and I can only run it on medium at around 15 - 30 fps, one of our cards would kill mine and you have 3 of them.

just change the resolution of your desktop to 800x600 and change theme to windows classic then shutdown all other programs and run crysis on dx9 it should give you a smooth framerate then....

800x600 at that rez the game looks like your playing it on a PS1!!! use 1280x800 and put most settings on low to med. will look good and play smooth. i can play far cry 2 smooth on medium at 1280x800.

m1730 is more powerful with video card up to 8700. together, the price is up to 2000 *_*...with 2k , i would recommend an alien ware,,, but for mid user, m1530 is so far so good with 8600 gt

Im going to buy a m1530 myself, but waiting for centrino 2 and the t9600 processor 2.8ghz to hurry up and get on the m1530 (heard august 08'), worth the wait :)...then again maybe i should wait for quad core nehalem's hyper-threaded to 8 cores on a 32nm process to hit notebooks ;)

dell is bein a little slow, some of the other manufactures have already released centrino 2 on their notebooks, its shown to increase performance by 10% plus it runs cooler.  The t9600 2.8ghz and x9100 3ghz was also released. Just have to wait for em to trickle into dell. The sweet thing is all this is running on a 1066mhz bus with faster memory as well. Ya, dell is prolly trying to milk every penny outa this current gen.

if you want more performance, go to alienware(also owned by dell) and you can get the 8800gtx on a 15in which will will run crysis nicely on med.resolutions with modifiers on, you will pay the price though. A lower cost option, go to 64bit vista, the very least you will see a 10fps jump on crysis. I recommend a intel t9300 2.5ghz processor, 3gigs low latency RAM, nvidia 8600m gt, and a clean install of 64bit vista. The price would be mid 1500's, definitely a good value for the performance.

Hey, im thinking of getting this laptop as well but i noticed that the hard drive is only 5400rpm, i would like a 7200rpm hard drive and if you can help , could you tell me whether ur hard drive is slow or is the speed not significantly different (assuming its slower than 7200rpm) and does it effect gaming and starting up windows. oh and do u know whether the graphics card is DirectX 9 or 10???

let me tell you, 5400 rpm is not slow, very good, but 7200 rpm is better a bit. 8600 graphic card supports directx 10.

the 5400 rpm does slow down the windows and programs but does not effect the game play. Just to be safe i would choose the 7200 rpm hard drive.

Getting a faster proccesor will let you play games/multitask better and you will be spending more time doing stuff with the the laptop than booting/loading games. Also 7200rpm is aperently noisy.

This impressive you got it to such a high frame rate. I just bought this notebook with 3 gigs, 7200 RPM hard drive but a slower proc. (2.4GHtz, 3mb cache, core 2 8300 I think).
