Every December 7th I am amazed how many of my students have NEVER heard of Pearl Harbor or the Arizona! I devote the entire day talking to them and showing them what happened that day. To all of you vets, I am doing my best to make sure we never forget.
Thanks for posting. I worked at the AM 03&04 (Navy). I will never forget Uncle Herb and what a humble man he was to me. He talked to me first, he wanted to know about me!
He fought in Europe, and was one, or as I remember the first Americansto meet up with the first Russian. He showed me the picture he still caries in his wallet. By fare the most friendly person I have meet.
These are the things that make you think, they make you think deeply about things that happened in the past and things that are happening now. Like they say, every generation has it's defyning moment, some more the others though...
I was luck enough to meet Herb in December when we visited Pearl Harbor. Thank you Herb and thank you to all of the other vets who read this.
