I can listen to this song for months non stop, repeating the experience everywhere, especially in my car. It grows on you. Living the darkness to the fullest. Certainly the most or one of the few most beautiful song I have ever heard in my life.
I feel like this is the epitome of Mark Linkous' overall outlook on life; this being one of his more intimately crafted songs (just my opinion)... More Yellow Birds and Eyepennies being a close second and third.

"I pulled my heart out
on a mountain high.
And then I saw
that it would not die.
Are you Devil's New,
or are you a spy?
Are you driven by change
onto a Mountain High?

@PaolaLohan What I hear is this. . .
I pulled my heart out on a mountain high
I left it in the sun, but it would not die
Are you devils new, or are you spies?
I drug 'em by a chain up a mountain high
