"Gene Vincent was a musician decades ahead of his peers. It was Gene Vincent who first donned the all black leather stage gear that's since become a punk rock and heavy metal hallmark".
I thank this is one of my favorite song's by Gene Vincent. I really liked Eddie Cochran music also. I believe they were really good singers. Wished music was like that today. I guess I was to young to go to there shows.

This is a great song for this tribute. The lyric is almost beyond compare.....compared to the love of man. The structure is immaculate and the instrumentation is so spare. They're so small, so small... incredibly small compared to the love of a man.

Even after this long time it makes you sad just to think about the whole situation. The best friend alive and sitting next to you - and the next moment he´s gone. All too sad.
Cheers, I noticed the title only after posting the comment... By the way, do you know where can I find the lyrics of this amazing song? Thank you very much
It is ironic that Gene & Eddie never achieved the popularity in their home country that they did in England. I never got to see Eddie Cochran perform live, nor was I fortunate enough to see Gene Vincent in his hey day. American's seem oblivious today to the fact that their music back then was so highly influential. There will never be another Eddie Cochran or a Gene Vincent. They really were true giants of REAL rock & roll!
soo true. we brits used to hear your music through the docks as in a ship would deliver goods and also rock n roll records that yer sailers used to have on board. The rest is history!!!!!!!
Hi Mate, had to reply, man a movie on these 2 guys, how good would that be?? long over due let me tell you, we need it bad, i guess we both know what i mean right, i read his biography, studied interviews etc, he was the original ROCKER!!! RIP mate !!!one of your fans!!!PS Have you seen HOT ROD Gang the Movie ???
Thanks for this compilation!! Also Eddie cochran was one of the first to wear black leather which was considered outrageous back then....how times have changed
Hi Kybabe44 I totally agree with you. I didn't have the chance to live in the 50's but I also think it has been the best era ever. I love R'n'R music and deem myself a loyal fan of those amazing singers and above all, eddie cochran. Don't you think why they're all gone but what a luck they ever existed!! From Spain to the world long live to R'n'R!!
jav77rnr: Yes, we were lucky to have them even for so short a time, but it's unreal how much you miss them. I was so in love with Eddie. Thanks to the internet & EBay, I
now have over 1,000 pics. of him, something I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd ever have. After Eddie, Gene, Buddy, J.P., Ritchie & Bobby Darin, music went to hell. Now we can see them on the computer, but it's sad, for me anyway. Thank you for writing to me. I will send you my Email address, if you want, but how?
coupe662; Eddie was the greatest, and the best looking. When he died a part of me died with him. I seriously thought of suicide, but had no idea how to do it. Back ohen parents didn't have guns, and I couldn't get enough pills, so I'm still here. I would much rather be with the stars of my generation. Maybe they were lucky to have gone out when they were young, good looking and on top. They will forever be remembered that way.
Thank you for your sweet response. The 50s was the greatest era ever. Why so many of our great performers had to die so young I'll never know. I guess they've got it going on in Heaven and are waiting for us. I have left so many messages for Eddie on "Find a Grave." One said "When these messages stop coming, I will be in Heaven with you." I am so addicted to the song "The Love of a Man." I listen to it over and over every day. It is so sad, but such a beautiful song. "Lonesome Town."
Kybabe44: Thats something each and every person have to decide. maybe they were lucky to have "gone out" when they were young, but I think that life is so much more than beeing famous and beeing remembered as " a young and on top" person. You still have to take care of the ones you love even I if you dont want to live, because maybe the other persons cant live without you.. Eddie was one of the best and truely died young but he changed rock history just beeing alive, beeing loved.
coupe662: I didn't really mean they were lucky to have died so young. (45 years later), I keep trying to rationalize WHY they had to die so young, good looking, tralented and at the top of their careers. I would give anything to change it, but that's for God to decide - not me. Life was just never the same.
Quelle superbe chanson. Ils sont merveilleux tous les deux. Continuez à chanter pour tous ceux qui nous ont quittés. Je suis sûre qu'ils sont heureux là haut avec vous...
Beautiful. I been listening to this stuff for 30 years now, I still love every second of these guys' music. Gene Vincent's voice was marvelous, as Eddie's & his guitar, they can make you cry.

I agree with "lunarock." I am obsssed with this song and addicted to this site. I can't evan count the number of pictures I have of Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran. I'm one of those people who live in the past - not to mention an obsessed fan.
It's OK Kybabe44. You are addicted to the best music that ever was. Late 50's and early 60's--THere was nothing like it--Sad thing is that so many have gone---Buddy, Elvis, Gene & Eddy--- But their music is still here! Enjoy! Good Luck to all from the Captain!
PAULLONDEN: You said it. The entire situation was heartbreaking. I'm sure Eddie was never the same after Buddy's death, then Gene had to endure as you said, getting "back on that plane without Eddie." Maybe he had time to absorbe it, but I doubt it. It's been 47 years and that hasn't been enough time for me to absorbe it. I'm sure they're all together though,as Eddie said, "Singing for God now."
I saw Gene in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, when he toured with Micky Most - must have been around 1960 or so. I still play his songs to this day, even though I'm 67! I love this song too, and so many of his classics. I drive with his CD's playing in my car -- from Over the Rainbow to Rollin' Danny, and Frankie and Johnny to Rocky Road Blues! He was a GREAT singer with a most unique voice. Rock on, Gene! And thanks to all you guys and gals who post his songe up here. Cape Town, Oct 2007
You have 7 years on me, I'm 60 I used to deliver groceries to Gene's house in South London in the early 60s, he was a gentleman, always offered a drink(hot in winter)and always tipped
As with all the great legends, Richard, Presley, Holly, Cochran, Domino Berry, et. al. their records could never match the electric excitement of their stage show. Oh for a return to those days.
I was lucky enough to be at a Little Richard concert in Hammersmith, London when the MC announced that a singer wished to meet his fans. This usually meant an unknown was about to crash the show, but the MC said "Here is Mr. Gene Vincent". Stunned silence - Gene walked on stage and announced that due to Union rules he couldn't sing on stage. He simply came down amongst the audience and burst into Say Mama.
Same thing happened to me at Southampton. Can't remember what he sang, but what a night. Also saw Gene at a dance at Fareham Town Hall. Sang from the floor again. Soon as he started singing all the rockers started fighting. I hid behind my girl's skirts.
this is what beautiful music is all about.. geat Gene Vincent & Eddie Cochrane.. 2 greats gone too soon..

Heartbreaking

I love this song and will keep posting that I do. I was listening to Gene Vincent ballads as an 18 year old in 1980 and was entranced.

Nice to hear this one again. The "B" side to I'm Goin' Home backed by the Sounds Incorporated and recorded in the UK studios.

Is this song a song of Eddy Coquelin?

That ballad could have been on an Elvis album and nobody would have heard that it wasn't Elvis that sang it

everybody i think
anneesvinyl 4 years ago
Well, since I am a big fan of them both I can hear the difference. But it is very Elvis influenced. And that is absolutely not a bad thing :P
