People need to understand that JKR killed those characters for a reason. She even said herself that it was horrible and she wanted to
cry. I completely agree with James. It's war. There's not a happy ending during war. People die and you can't stop that. It made the book more realistic. Besides, it was never a kid's book or series. She even admitted that she would never let her kids read it. At least until they were old enough. So stop saying "She shouldn't have killed them! It's a KID'S series
JKR killed Fred BECAUSE it was so tragic. For the Weasleys to lose a child and for George to lose a twin... That's what makes it such a good book. It's not a happy fairy tale ending.
Honestly, I think it would've been less tragic if both twins died. At least that way, we'd know they were reunited and playing pranks together in the heavenly Kings Cross.
JKR was so mean in Deathly Hallows. Killing all those awesome characters. :'( RIP Fred, Tonks, Lupin, Snape, Dobby, Hedwig and everyone else who died.
@ashy13241 Not only was it mean, it was just bad writing there at the end. JK wasted readers' time with Draco especially - a wonderfully wicked, little antagonist until his character became utterly useless to the story. Books 5 - 7 sucked like Fan-Fic'. Killing Fred, Hedwig, & Dobby was just wrong. Did JK forget HP was a KIDS' series!??
@FuzzBean84 It's not a kids series..... It's what she wanted it to be. It's her books. She can do whatever the hell she wants with them. She did everything in those stories for a reason. There was a purpose to every word she wrote. Killing the characters she killed was NOT wrong, though it was gut-wrenching. She killed them because that's what happens in war: people die. People get hurt. Not everything is okay at the end of the day. So go off and continue coveting your Twilight books.
@FuzzBean84 Sweetie, you COMPLETELY missed my point. Nothing I said garnered any hostility. Obviously you have some anger issues you need to deal with. Getting so upset over comments on YouTube just goes to show how little there is going on your life. I've got better things to do with my time, which is why I wouldn't know jack-shit about the Twilight series. Make some friends, sweetie. Your Emo gloom is bringing me down.
I understand the logic behind killing Fred. Like this whole family of 10 people is participating in this huge final battle and none of them is to die? But still..!!!. Why kiling one of the twins!?! Man! I was devastated! It was the worst death! I mean, why not kill Percy (that comes out so wrong but you got me! lol)? Or a parent? But a youngster?!! And a twin?? Poor George... Plus she'd already killed Remus and Nymphadora! Leaving an orphan Ted behind! And Dobby! It was already tragic enough
@unetotaleincognito12 It always sounds so so so wrong "she'd already killed...". I know it wasn't easy for her to write the death of her characters but I felt heartbroken reading it. Still : JKR rules! Obviously
everyone is saying things about how bad J.K.R. is for killing Fred, but in interviews, she has even said Fred has always been one of her favorite characters. When a writer is making a story, they already know what is going to happen, even when it is sad for them. Sometimes in a book, things have to happen, especially in the last Harry Potter. Fred's death, along with so many others is to show just how cruel and evil war can be. J.K.R. cried while writing Fred's death. its not easy for anyonexoxo
I think it's realley unfair that people go on and on about how evil J.K.R. is for killing Fred. I edmit when I red the book and I came to the part when Fred dies I cried so hard and I couldnt stop and when I saw his death on the big scren I cried even harder and even now when I think abou him is sometimes cry. Whats even wors is that George is left all alone and the thought that he names his son Fred is yust so swet and sad in the same time. But JKR is steal my favourite writer in the world.
@RedRose2102 Where in the books do they say he named his kid Fred?I mean I've read it like a hundre times and never seen this particular thing....can anyone help me?
I cried so much when I read the part where Fred dies in the book, but seeing it onscreen made it much more sad. it's heartbreaking. I Love the Weasleys:(
Everytime I think or hear Fred and/or George's name, my heart breaks a little more. I can't stand that Jo killed Fred. I can't stand the fact the George has to wake up every morning knowing that he can't play any more jokes with his twin brother and best friend. I read that Rowling said that George never truly got over Fred. I just can't stand the thought of it. I cry every time I think about it. :'(
I never cry while watching movies but this one I just bawled! I've actually been crying ever since I saw it! I'm sooo sad! I feel like I've lost part of my childhood :'(
@amandaass96 Lucius isnt worth all of them. :( He's not even half the man Lupin was(Which is saying something cause Lupin was technically only halfman himself). No where near as awesome and cute as Dobby and definetly not as cool as Hedwing. No no. We'll have to trade him PLUS some for all of them.
he thinks its kinda cool that fred dies, and all of us are crying our eyes out in the movie theater! i love james and oliver!!!!! why did fred have to go??
Fred was always my favorite twin. I was sad when JK killed him off and I almost cried but the Bellatrix scene made everything okay again (not going into detail in case you haven't read)
@Nannahe I said maybe weeks. It don't think it matters how mkuch or how long you cry, I think that the most important thing is that it brings emotions in a reader. ;)
Okay seriously. I'm sick of people who just attacks JK.Rowling for killing Fred. I know how you feel, I was devestated when I found out that Fred dies, and I cried for days, maybe weeks. BUT! If she didn't kill him, it would make the story too perfect. We have wars around in this world and everyday someone who is very dear to someone dies. It would just be too perfect if all the good and cool characters survived while all the bad ones died. JK. Rowling is amazing, I'm still sad but we have James
@Harajukugirl9 I agree with you and thats what makes JK such an awesome author she makes her story situatuions realistic (minus the magic ofcourse) so she doesnt make all hugs and Butterfly kisses!
on her web site JK says she knocked off fred in the end because fred was always the leader and she wanted george to have a chance to be.... independent? or somethng like that Xd
@xxxxrockchicxxxx well then its a good thing it was for JK and not you to decide what happens in HER world. -_- seriously. Her job is to tell the story, not please fans.
when i read it in the book i threw the book across the room and screamed. i broke a china santa thing and cryed practicly not stop for days. i still cry most days :'(
I find it funny how Oliver doesn't want to talk about Fred dying and he sort of ignores it when it's mentioned whereas James thinks it's cool and is all about talking about it.
Beware people all fans of James can follow him on twitter... James_Phelps is the real twitter! All other accounts anywhere (facebook or whatever) are ALL FAKE!!
@maximumride8 no he shouldn't have. Everyone hated Percy, so if he died, it wouldn't have affected everyone as much. The mark of a great story is to invoke an emotional response in the reader that follows them years after the book ended. :)
@maximumride8 I agree, but, there's a good reason Fred died. It might not be the reason J.K killed Fred but if you think about it it makes sense that HE was the one to die and not Percy. While Fred was on the front lines charging to battle without a second thought Percy thought the MoM was right from the very beginning he wasn't one of the people who just ran off into the battle. After he goes back to his family and all, he does fight pretty hard, but Fred was just... always on the front lines.
I always new there would be to many Weasleys for them all to make it out, but i guess i still hoped... I never thought it would be Fred... I didn't think J.K Rowling would be that heartless to just leave one of the twins there without there other half. But i guess i was wrong.
OMG i was crying so hard when he died, i was supposed to go to the movies with my bf on a date. While i was waiting for him to get the my house i picked DH up and started reading, when he came to pick me up i was sitting on the couch sobbing my eyes out! i cried for ever, he's the best, he just sat there and held me until i stopped, but then i read some more when i got home and i swear i cried on and off for a about a week
i know we all love fred and dont want to see the death scene, and oliver was always my favorite of the 2...but dont you guys agree that james can handle the death scene better than oliver? i love oliver, but james is a better actor...i think between his big scene, and seeing george's reaction...the theatres will be filled with crying HP fans.
@grneyedsiren11 actually i dont think there is much difference in their acting, i think its because fred tends to get more lines and is more out there with his hilarity. its the same way in the books. george is a lot more subtle but still friggen hilarious, i always watch his reactions to things in the movie :)
but your right, it will be heart wrenching. i just hope they dont skate over it like its not a big deal, i hope they dedicate a lot of time and effort to it. :)
Freds death absolutly shocked me!!! I mean to die infront of friends and brothers in a war and leave behind your twin is one thing but to die laughing! that broke my heart I read the book ages ago and I am still greving!
I just love Fred. When I read the part where he passed, I can honestly say that I cried the hardest than I have in months. I was just devastated. Dumbledore... Lupin.... Tonks....Dobby..... Fred. Wow. Incredibly sad.
I was so waiting for Oliver to grab James shoulder and say "OH MY GOD YOU'RE GONNA DIE!!"" LOL seriously tho I can never forgive JK rowling for killing Fred!
As much as killing off Fred broke my heart, I understand why JK did it - as others have said, it was a time of war, and it was very realistic to have horrible and unsuspecting casualties like that. It happens, unfortunately. I respect her as an author for having the balls to do it
...And on that note, a small, petty part of me will always hate her down to her very bones for killing off Lupin. And Tonks, for that matter, just after that joyous bit where their son was born. RAGE AND GRIEF 4EVA.
@EyeFangirlLife I KNOW!!!! i mean I was in tears when I read about Fred but then when Lupin died I just started to sob!!!!! he was just the sweetest! and he & Tonks were perfect T_T
ugh J.K really shouldnt have killed off fred didnt she killed off enough characters she litterally went ape-shit with the killing in this book she could have killed off percy i woulda been sad yeah but when she killed off fred she lost all my respect ,the twins have been my favorite since book 1 so her doing that to fred and george fucked with my emotions really bad i cryed my eyes out J.K u are heartless and cruel u let so many fans down
@xxxxrockchicxxxx but JKR did say that fred and george we her favourite characters as well and that she cried while writing that scence. I think it's much more realistic this way, killing off people was necessary, I mean it was a war after all, and although it was sad (the saddest death of all in my opinion) I think most fans can see why she did it.
@justinnozukalover17 I do understand that it was more realistic killing off people J.K is my favorie author i love her to death for writting these books i still have respect 4 her my last comment is a lil mean but Fred&George are my fav characters so when i read she killed off fred my head kinda exploded....but if she had 2 do it she had 2 do it whats done is done.
yeah i found out fred s gonna die on harry potter wikia it s a cool site you should check it out but anyways i feel really sorry for george, ron and ginny and the rest of weasleys but it s really sad though
i found out about freds death and i havent read the books! now i dont want to see the 7th movie when it comes out because im not going to be able to stop crying!!! Y-Y
J.K. kinda went bat-shit crazy after the third book. I cried so hard when Fred died though. My was like "what's wrong?" and she hadn't read it yet so I said "Something really teribble just happened."
im going to cry so much lol i love the twins and its not twins without two I mean really why couldnt she have killed off someones I know its mean but I dont care I love the twins!!!!!
I cried whe Sirius died too, but once Fred dies, the fight just keeps going, and it doesn't have time to hit you for a few pages. Then of course, I spent almost the rest of the book crying about it. He was my favorite.
Due to my youtube name, I'm a huge James Phelps fan. I'm a huge Fred fan too. I was on my way home from a drama camp when I read it, and I had to hide my face from my parents because there were tears running down my face, it's so sad:(
However, I just seem to have that sort of luck when picking favorite characters.....
Fun fact--I'm actually "A woman from Dragon*Con". :) I already knew about the water-spill video that boxercab did, but now I have another one to add to my collection!
When I began reading the Harry Potter series all my friends were scared, I started the begining of school in 2007 and read all of them each taking a day to two. And I would even fall asleep with them cuddled to me.
omg fred was my favorite character and i can't believe that she killed him!! i cried my eyes out when i read that! i don't know what i'm gonna do when the movie comes out. i might pass out haha.
im gonna pass out too!!! or i might just cry...i actually NEVER cry during movies[even when i want to]-and my older, tough guy, college brother cried during bridge to terabithiah...weird... but anyways i think Fred dying will be enough to make me cry!!!!!! :'(

OMG i was crying so hard when he died, i was supposed to go to the movies with my bf on a date. While i was waiting for him to get the my house i picked DH up and started reading, when he came to pick me up i was sitting on the couch sobbing my eyes out! i cried for ever, he's the best, he just sat there and held me until i stopped, but then i read some more when i got home and i swear i cried on and off for a about a week

weasleyisourkingg 1 year ago 6
i know we all love fred and dont want to see the death scene, and oliver was always my favorite of the 2...but dont you guys agree that james can handle the death scene better than oliver? i love oliver, but james is a better actor...i think between his big scene, and seeing george's reaction...the theatres will be filled with crying HP fans.
grneyedsiren11 1 year ago 5

Fred. Wow. Incredibly sad.
ariannalovesbradpitt 1 year ago
why Fred i mean you just cant do that, why not Percy or Charlie (not bill he's married)
but really why the characters we are most emotionally attached to! He is too awesome to die!
first sirius, then dumbledore, then dobby! why!! why a weasley!!
TheMstweet 1 year ago 2
@AwwSnapItsJoanie you too?
i'll say what i said when sirius died "nooo he's too awesome to die"
TheMstweet 1 year ago
I was so waiting for Oliver to grab James shoulder and say "OH MY GOD YOU'RE GONNA DIE!!"" LOL seriously tho I can never forgive JK rowling for killing Fred!
bezzybecks123 1 year ago 2
As much as killing off Fred broke my heart, I understand why JK did it - as others have said, it was a time of war, and it was very realistic to have horrible and unsuspecting casualties like that. It happens, unfortunately. I respect her as an author for having the balls to do it
...And on that note, a small, petty part of me will always hate her down to her very bones for killing off Lupin. And Tonks, for that matter, just after that joyous bit where their son was born. RAGE AND GRIEF 4EVA.
EyeFangirlLife 1 year ago 8
@EyeFangirlLife I KNOW!!!! i mean I was in tears when I read about Fred but then when Lupin died I just started to sob!!!!! he was just the sweetest! and he & Tonks were perfect T_T

I never understood why george isn't there when fred dies in the book. I'm kind of hoping he'll be there in the movie...
Wondercat95 2 years ago 4
ugh J.K really shouldnt have killed off fred didnt she killed off enough characters she litterally went ape-shit with the killing in this book she could have killed off percy i woulda been sad yeah but when she killed off fred she lost all my respect ,the twins have been my favorite since book 1 so her doing that to fred and george fucked with my emotions really bad i cryed my eyes out J.K u are heartless and cruel u let so many fans down
xxxxrockchicxxxx 2 years ago 8
@xxxxrockchicxxxx but JKR did say that fred and george we her favourite characters as well and that she cried while writing that scence. I think it's much more realistic this way, killing off people was necessary, I mean it was a war after all, and although it was sad (the saddest death of all in my opinion) I think most fans can see why she did it.
justinnozukalover17 1 year ago 7
@justinnozukalover17 I do understand that it was more realistic killing off people J.K is my favorie author i love her to death for writting these books i still have respect 4 her my last comment is a lil mean but Fred&George are my fav characters so when i read she killed off fred my head kinda exploded....but if she had 2 do it she had 2 do it whats done is done.

To provoke -.- Charlie Weasley should have died instead - one Weasley had to die and Charlie was the least important one.
Kotlettbengt 2 years ago 6

@katherine2203 Haha, my book now says that Percy is the one that dies XD I LOVE Fred so much and it was horrid when..... ya know
MrFredweasleysgurl 1 year ago
J.K shouldn't have killed any of the Weasleys. =.=" Terrible. It's sad, yes, but for the sake of the drama, I'll let it pass since I already mourned.

im going to cry so much lol i love the twins and its not twins without two I mean really why couldnt she have killed off someones I know its mean but I dont care I love the twins!!!!!
riki708 2 years ago 5
I cried whe Sirius died too, but once Fred dies, the fight just keeps going, and it doesn't have time to hit you for a few pages. Then of course, I spent almost the rest of the book crying about it. He was my favorite.
littledeathpony 2 years ago 6
i think she did it so its not lke the end of the twilight saga.
no one and everything worked out brilliantly in vamp land. it was kinda lame the way stephenie meyer did that.
J.K. know how to really get you caught

George also loses one of his ears when they are helping harry escape Privet Drive
TwilightHarryPotter9 3 years ago 8
yea she said 'ear, ear' because of when the twins tell harry that the lil speach he gave was well said, george goes "Ear, ear!"

When I began reading the Harry Potter series all my friends were scared, I started the begining of school in 2007 and read all of them each taking a day to two. And I would even fall asleep with them cuddled to me.

without the twins 'both of em' sumthing must be lacking... i mean, they make the most tense situation in the movie sort of cheer up a bit..
