for anyone asking if i could do a cover with my face on it, i really cant. as you may notice, i uploaded a video of this two years ago. try practising your two year old exam piece, you may play it okay, but all the dynamics and feel is wrong. so sorry about it >.< i've gone on to composing now that I've finished my grade 8 exam.

@12VanillaTwilight Notice that on the ABRSM syllabus it says "one CHOSEN BY THE CANDIDATE from each of the three Lists, A, B and C". So the choice of what pieces you want to do is YOURS, not your teacher's.

@joeywong96 haha well, i did this a year ago. my grade 8 exam is in 13 days =x and i didn't get a distinction, only a merit. however i got 29/30 for this song :D

Um could I ask for some advice on how to do the funny tremelo thingie (the G and C) on the right hand at the part nearing the end? At the moment mine sounds horribly uneven and ugly....

@stoprainlty its been a year since i did performed this exam piece (ive moved to grade 8), but i remember clearly what my teacher said.

Instead of using ur fingers 2 hit the key, shake your wrist to make the note sound. This will help you when you have to play it faster. You can also try dotted rhythm, like short-short-long, long-long-short, etc. So for example: short-short-long; You play the C and G short, and the next C long, and repeat until you get the rhyhm right.

practice till ur fingers are sore. one good practice for around 30-45mins one day will do you good for the rest of the year. xD

Try seperate hands... i use nails to play the right hand.

i just had grade 6 and was also annoyed with the sight reading and aural - you should only have to do the pieces for an exam! - for grade 5 i got 128 - i missed out on a distinction cos of my singing!

Wow, Joanna Macgregor is just amaznig. I read an article about her when I was in the waiting room for my exam. She's lead a really intersting life! I went in and burst out to he examinor, "wow she's soo amazing!!!!!" but then was like...shit ....be formal, ahem....lol Nice vid btw

It's fantastic that there is actually a version on YouTube at the correct tempo. Everyone seems to think that the faster they play it the better it will be.

Haha, I'm playing this for my exam at the end of the year too! Man, I always end up forgetting to use my NAILS to play the glissando instead of my fingers... ouch. And those grace note thingies are hard to play. Does that happen to you?

you use you nails to play the right hand gliss right?

i've mastered the glissando using other pieces as guides (e.g. the pink panther, lol).

i just tilt my hand to a side and move. If you dig too deep on the first note its gonna hurt like hell.

Oh, actually, I use my nails to play both the right hand glissando and the left hand glissando. Yeah, at first I used my fingers... bad idea. That's cool - using other pieces as guides. I think I'll try that.
