  • Respond to this video... also cant you use surechatte to replace shimatte? thanks victor for all that you do!

  • @1matth3w1

    I think you're confused. Maybe you mean "chatte"? That's the more informal version of (shite)shimatta.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman im not confused its just that ive never herd shimau used that way before i usually hear sure chau to emphasize something that they regret like densha ni noriokurechatta yo!: something like that.. also its hard to look at the dictionary when a language changes every couple of years.

  • @1matth3w1

    OK. You're not confused. But you said surechatte... and that would not be used ... maybe a typo.

    Sigh...The language does not change every couple of years. I've been using the same dictionary I bought over 20 years ago.

    Maybe my channel is too moronic for you.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman no its not moronic lol. I like j4m alot and I plan to watch all of the videos. I just want to understand japanese effectively and most of all speak it effectively.

  • Respond to this video... i thought shimau meant to decide or to finish a statement/story/cause/event

  • @1matth3w1 You are right but...Shimau has other meanings.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman yes but whare the other meanings besides the one i mentioned?

  • @1matth3w1

    In this sentence it is used to stress or emphasize the verb -- and usually giving it a negative tone or nuance.

    You know you could use a dictionary too, right?

  • love heeton whispering stuff lol

  • Thanks to Heeton!

  • I'm sure Heeton can impersonate FakeSagan.

  • Heeton is soo awsome ! lol

  • Love godzilla! lol Great Lesson! Anna and Sonna? I am really behind!!

  • Gojira!!!!!!!!!

  • Hm, so what does 'soko ni ai wa aru no kai?' mean exactly?

    soko = there, that place

    ni = to, toward

    ai = love

    wa = [subj]

    aru = to be, to have

    no = emphasis for question

    kai = variant of ka, question marker

    So literally something like 'Is there no love (going) there?'; that is, 'Don't you love me?' or (freer translation) 'Where is the love?'

  • heeton! awesome vid! why didnt you speak like that when you were in my vids! radio voice to the max!

  • Sorry, Scott! I had a slight case of diarrhea in Osaka. lol

    No, no, no, actually I can hardly understand what native speakers are talking about when they're speaking English at the natural speed.

  • it's the samething for me, but with native japanese speekers!!

    it's just, it's said really fast!

  • Even I have trouble with native on native action!

  • JpopFan12 is a user named boyiehoney who obsessively when through about 100 videos yesterday and left me a "Mexicans suck" comments. He is a Pinoy (Philippino) who's got something against Mexicans. He, ironically, like many white trolls on YT, thinks I'm Mexican simply because I speak Spanish.

    Hello, boyiehoney! How are the Philippines this time of year?

  • Yeah, sure. At least I have videos showing me traveling around the USA. And funny how you have to keep making accounts. Who does that? Oh, yeah...loser trolls. I completely own you. I'll just block you again. Let's see if you can resist making another comment on my vids. I'm betting you can't control yourself.

  • Good lesson

  • Hey! How do you say to be continued in japanese? As in the end of a first of a two-parter show?

    Also It would be nice with a search engin or something like that to find specific episodes of j4m...like I think there is a that shows all the diffrent typs of names for famliymembers...

  • Why is the first character in katakana? Is it just a typo?

  • Oh, no! Where!

  • Oh, あんな!

    Right. Typo!

    Editing too late at night. Sorry!

  • Ah, sorry about that I should have narrowed it down a bit! At 04:50

    「アんなことを言ってしまって。。。」

    Dropping the 「を」 is more natural sounding l guess?
