to be honest, I thought the shot on the Red was a target (had to watch it a couple of times) and i wouldn't shoot an animal (not including vermin) on the move, i'm proud of my 100% record shooting deer but saying that, great shots fella! :-)
I practice on 8" baloons at 200, 300, 400, and 500 yards year round - I aimed for the point where the shoulder and neck come together - I hit him exactly where I wanted - the high shoulder shot drops them cold and blows bone chuncks throughout the chest cavity - super deadly.
I agree that its less risky to aim for the heart and lungs, but many deerstalkers that I know say that, if you're skilled enough, you should shoot for the neck. It drops the beast instantly and also spoils less meat. Although you can't really fail with a heart/lung shot
The footage is all real and ethical using Burris ballistic plex rifle scopes on .300 win mag rifle - but please refrain from bad language on this page or I will remove your posting.
Hey man, watch your language and learn how to spell. I have gone to other countries - and hunted them hard. Covered the world and enjoyed every minute of it.
.300 Winchester Magnum in the Remington XCR - Burris Ballistic Mil-Dot rifle scope 4-16x44 shooting 180 grain Remington Sirocco bullets (factory ammo) - it is all in the scope!

what kind of bullet?
mike123106 2 years ago
The video prooves your skills in shooting.
Your shot dropped the elk.
But the second elk probably died of a broken neck caused by rolling down the hill instead of a death caused by your bullet :-)

Wow! That was awesome!

@ScottishnotBritish:
I agree with you, the second shot seems to be to high. That´s the reason why one should not shoot on those large distances.
jokerflorian 3 years ago
it dropped the elk didn't it?

did anyone notice that it was hit in the spine just behind the head a the top of its neck and not its heart?(thats a bad shot)
ScottishNotBrittish 3 years ago
Who cares? It died anyway, a big calibre round to the spinal cord will be pretty much lights out instantly.

i studied deer stalking at college and got my DMQ, we were taught to aim for the heart/lungs
to make sure we get the kill
ScottishNotBrittish 3 years ago
i always try for the neck to save the meat. obviously not at such ranges though
Shaggynz 3 years ago
if i can guarantee a kill il go for the neck but at 200yrds or more il go for the heart/lungs
ScottishNotBrittish 3 years ago
Incredible shooting, I spent two years culling red deer in scotland and we thought 300 yards was an exceptional shot !! Im impressed.
bbigman2000 3 years ago
You'd be more of a hunter if you killed the stag with a bow within 36yards than a high powered rifle from 736yards.
Hunting with rifles takes little skill.
tegan71969 3 years ago
wow if any of you guys are any kind of hunters you should respect him for that shot.
calfirerescue115 3 years ago
