  • People: I"ve met the band. Don't need schooling in the history, but thanks anyway.

  • Seeing this band was a big highlight in my life. Long live 70s rock!

  • awesomeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is steve the drummer? i never knew lol im only 13 but i love these guys!

  • i can play this on my guitar

  • @haydensalapek digital high five

  • Kerry cannot play anymore. Is this in Malone, NY??

  • yes

  • @Kellyl OMG. I have in-laws in Massena. I can't believe I missed this. ARGH.

  • @debbiechickie5 Kerry left the band in 1983. Rich Williams is playing all the solos here. Before Kerry left (and on the original recording), he only did one solo at the end of song, which is at 3:36, and which is why that's the only one that sounds very much the same.

  • @debbiechickie5

Just so you know, Kerry Livgren is no longer part of Kansas. He left more than 15 years before this was filmed. The guitarist with the eyepatch is the former rhythm guitarist Richard Williams and the other playing is the current violinist, David Ragsdale. Just so you know :D

  • @TheKansasmanSil Yeah, I know all that. I was relying to someone else and asking where the vid was shot. I've met the band. Thx.

  • Yes older, but all so nice.

  • I'd love to find a live version of Carry on where Steve Walsh used to do the headstands on the keyboards, c'mon, somebody pony it up!

  • F***ing NICE

  • This song is a secular response to the Bible's parable of the prodigal son. It is sung by Steve Walsh who was also given his fortune by his Father (God) and who misspent his fortune on drugs and almost lost his voice completely. Thankfully, he realized the error of his ways and his voice is recovering. This song is a musical masterpiece by any standards and is sung by one of the greatest vocalists to hold a microphone.

  • i'm lost. If he wrote the song in 1976, his voice is just recovering now?

  • Rock On, Kansas dudes!

  • Supernatural

  • beginning to love this band they just sound better each time!!

  • For the non believers, as stated below, this IS the current lineup of kansas. Originating members Phil Ehardt/Drums, Rich Williams/Guitar, Steve Walsh/Keys and Vocals, Long time bass player Billy Greer (replaced Dave Hope over 20 years ago and returning Violinist David Ragsdale (replaced Robbie Steinhardt for the second time) Robbie left for the second time around 2006. Original member/songwriter Kerry Livgren hasn't toured with Kansas since the 1990's but does make special appearances.

  • Its Kansas...its a camcorder c'mon not all cam's give sound good...and the members are Richard Williams, Dave Ragsdale, Phil Earhart . Billy Geer, Steve Walsh....some of the way backs are not even around....trust me its Kansas...however if I was backstage where I have been, I could tell you ass crossed if it is or not...hahahahaha now that is as dumb as is this Kansas

  • i think it really is kansas. i know for a fact that they have switch members so maybe thats why it doesnt look like them. there going to be playing in Herrin, IL for the Italian Fest...this lil carnival thing.

  • so cool they are so beter live i saw them at the river stage in san angalo texas keep on rockin

  • Richard Williams, amazing unsung talent.

  • They put on a hell of a show in Tulsa last night. Awesome. Vocally, the band sounded much better than in this video. They were definitely on their game last night.

  • I saw them today in Tulsa today, AWESOME!!!

  • omg they got old

  • fuk u, kansas rocks

  • sweet eye patch

  • Steve is awful my god.

  • Come on, he's over 50 years old! Do you really expect him to sing as well as he did in the 70s?

Anyway, he sounds all right here vocally. What amazes me thought is that his keyboard skills are still as inspiring as they always have been.

  • his skills at the keyboard are the same yes,but vocally no he's not.

  • Keep On Rocking Kansas!!!! haha that is nice!!!

  • sigh... just a shadow of the former glory.

  • That's not the original singer is it? excellent song though!

  • Yes. It's the original Lead Vocalist. Steve Walsh.

  • Man, they still got it. Has anyone seen REO Speedwagon recently, they are awesome still as well!

  • this is the greatest song ever. Others have come close, like Highway to Hell by AC/DC or some Aerosmith but this is THE best.

Carry on my wayward son and carry on Kansas.

  • shut the fuck up you wouldnt know real music if it came up and bit u in ur dick, which you have none. You probably listen to the reall nigger shit, rap and shit like that. they arent black, there white.

  • what the fuck you talking about you fuckig retard? i was talking about rap and 50 cent and all that gay rap shit, read the fuckig post below my first, i was commenting that guys comment! your a fucking dickhole!

  • yeah sorry about that. Rap is faggish

  • lol, finally!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I notice how youtube often censor my comments when I type that rap is shit!

  • Ok all rap is shit except for Rage Against The Machine. They can shred real gewd.

  • ratm is not rap!!!!

  • It's partly rap...

  • rap? wtf

  • i agree this song fucking rulz

  • First of all, how do you compare Kansas to rap music??? Its like apples to oranges. If you want to compare Kansas to any group, it should be Earth Wind & Fire, Journey or Fleetwood Mac. And rap is only stupid in your opinion. I agree that a lot of rap today has no substance. But at the same time, It takes a lot of talent to speak unrehearsed poetry from the top of your head. Which is what a lot of rap artists do.

  • boo

  • they still rock

  • AWESOME!

  • dumbass

  • AMAZING SONG...

  • Thats the stuff, indeed.

  • Takes me back to my high school danca marathon (1976)...thanks for the memories.

  • I found this song through Guitar Hero, Love it. The guitar hero recording is wicked aswell.

  • no, Kansas > guitar hero

  • Yeah Kansas, that's the stuff.

  • Listened to it and disagree with you completely.

  • this has become my theme song elected of my track team, i miss back in black

  • Who is that on 2nd gtr? I first saw KANSAS in 1974, in Kalamazoo, Mich., when they opened for Bad Company. I like B.C., but they got SPANKED that night.

  • this song is awsome

  • Kansas are awesome!

  • u r right

  • Think I saw this tour, though Kerry made a guest apperence. Great Show! Although I did like the first six albums bestest (and yes, I have them all on the original vinal, which I think I can get if anysone cares, peace out all you music lovers!

  • Glad to see the recent clip. I'd like to see some of their rarer more progressive songs played at these recent shows though. Got any of them to upload? :)
