Bicuspid aortic valve

Many, if not all cases of bicupid aorta are part of a syndrome. Other symptoms include coarctation (a narrowing) of the aorta, aortic aneurism, and problems with aneurisms in the brain and neck. In some cases at least, it is a problem with the microfibril protein fibrillin-1. Also, close relatives of individuals with bicuspid aorta may be at risk for some of these other symptoms, but have a tricuspid valve.

Actually, 80% of patients with coarctation of the aorta, also present with bicuspid AOV. Not the other way around...

What about coarctation of the aorta? It is an associated condition with bicuspid aortic valves 80-85% of the time!
