great tutorial...not boring too me but fascinating...question: i keep reading about updating airacs...how do you update fmc in pmdg products to current airacs..i was directed to navdata but no way to download to pmdg as far as i could tel...
At 5:03, while approaching the T/D I notice you will be changing the Altitude from 29000 in the MCP. Why is this needed? You also mention any value can be entered for e.g 2000 feet. If the FMC has all the altitude details why should there be any human intervention to change the altitude. It also necessitates the PILOT to keep an eye on the approach to T/D. Doesnt this defeat the whole purpose of Autopilot and VNAV? This is a sincere question and I am trying to understand.
This is a good question and nice observations. The FMC will never override the MCP. I know that it may seem self defeating but remember that the system is designed as an aid and not a complete takeover. Changing the MCP altitude is your way of telling the FMC "Yes go ahead and do what I told you to do" a final check and balances approach if you will.If you didnt change the MCP you would get a message from the FMC alerting you to the fact that it cant go lower and you need to approve it.
As the pilot it is still your responsibility to monitor and take over the approach in full autopilot in the event of an error . So even during the landing phase you are still keeping an eye on everything and your concentration should never be relaxed just because the AP is doing all the work. When your driving in the car with the speed control on your still keeping an eye on the road and speed its just your overall work load thats reduced. Same thing here. Hope that clears it up.
God!! it's so boring listening to you, but i have to admit, i am learning much better and faster with your clips than any others...I am new to PMDG, i was using only default Aircrafts without FMC...
Make sure that you are trying to place the speed restricion on the Right not on the Left of the FMC which I think is what your trying to do. So if it says CHIPZ on the left and 300/5000 on the right you would need to place the 170/ into the line select keys on the right . Trying it to place it on the left the FMC thinks your trying to add a waypoint called 170/ which of course is not valid
Commercial traffic such as Jets dont use VFR. As a matter of fact you couldnt even file a VFR flight plan in a jet. IFR is the way to go all the way. You bring up a good point one that I try to drive home to newcomers and that is "Learn VFR" even if you never use it.
You can but its hardly realistic. IFR is not accurate enought for Jet Flights and ATC doesnt want to keep vectoring you to your destination. But if you dont want to learn the FMC then you can do it that way of course.
1. As soon as i enter FL250 for MISEN, the FMC disconnects.
2. Somehow, a green indicator line on the ND tracks my aircraft. It starts at the BZA VOR but i don't have any VORs like that in the FIX page (not really a problem, but somehow annoying^^)
If anyone knows how to counter these problems, pls respond, thx!
Amazing videos...I have learned alot from you...so thanks for taking the time to share ur knowledge...I can finally use the fmc without feeling overwhelmed...PLUS...I know know hor to read a chart properly...Can we make a request for a tutorial topic? pls let me know....thanks..

WTurbiasz awesome tutorial, rly helps me!

i cant program a speed restriction in the fmc on CHIPZ or even on KIMME.
when i hit 170/ on chipz (LSK5) its says "invalid entry" in the scratch pad.
can u help me out with this guys?

Did you fly this VFR or IFR? I'm using FSBuild with IFR's and FMC flightplans.. so I'm using a IFR flightplan.. Which do you recommend, IFR or VFR?

I see, thanks for the info.. Before getting my PMDG aircraft and FSBuild, I've been using VFR with commerial jets from time to time.. ^^
SaultyevilandJetson 3 years ago
Nothing wrong with it its just not used . You will find that the FMC is far more accurate thats why IFR is mandatory.
WTurbiasz 3 years ago
sounds a supid question but can you fly these planes without the fmc just using autopilot and an ifr direction from atc
mongiardi 3 years ago

PLEASE!! How do u get this "PMDG 737" (for FSX not FS2004)??
crazypilot123 3 years ago
Its not out of FSX yet. Google Precision Manuals they are the ones that make the PMDG lineup.

Hey WTurbiasz thanks for the great vids! :-)
I have 2 Problems:
1. As soon as i enter FL250 for MISEN, the FMC disconnects.
2. Somehow, a green indicator line on the ND tracks my aircraft. It starts at the BZA VOR but i don't have any VORs like that in the FIX page (not really a problem, but somehow annoying^^)

do you need aeroplanner membership?

You dont need one to pull up charts. You do need one for some of the more advanced functions.
