@kfam39 That game is a perfect example of why the BCS fought so hard to keep power teams who didn't come from the traditional conferences out of the "national championship" game. Could you imagine if Utah had beaten Florida that year or BSU upending Bama the year after that or TCU beating Auburn, it would've made the BCS power brokers look bad. Tradition and $ distribution are more important than giving teams who don't play in the "big boy" conferences a chance.

This game underscores everything that is wrong with the BCS system. Teams with names like Utah and Boise State simply don't get a fair shake when it comes to playing in the BCS Title game. The system is totally biased in favor of teams like Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Oklahoma etc. By contrast, in NCAA basketball, Butler got to play in the National Title for 2 straight years even though the pollsters didn't have them ranked in the top 25. It just goes to show how much pollsters really know.

Those are AQ conferences. I have no doubt that Boise, TCU and a handful of non AQ teams are good. In those no AQ conferences there are only 1 maybe two teams that are good or even decent. That is the difference in AQ and BCS. Any non AQ that wants a chance at the big one... Big East is taking teams!!

Did you not see Oregon Ducks what did they do to the runners up Stanford they dominated the PAC 10 they also beat TN a bad SEC team this year but Auburn was not domiant in the SEC they came out on top but they struggled in 4 or 5 of those games and they whipped the Ducks. And BTW isnt USC on probaltion for viloations forcing Regie Bush to return his trophy. During those years .they should have at least one National Championship revoked. Could you imagine if Utah had beaten Florida that year or BSU upending Bama the year after that or TCU beating Auburn, it would've made the BCS power brokers look bad. This game underscores everything that is wrong with the BCS system. Teams with names like Utah and Boise State simply don't get a fair shake when it comes to playing in the BCS Title game. The system is totally biased in favor of teams like Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Oklahoma etc. By contrast, in NCAA basketball, Butler got to play in the National Title for 2 straight years even though the pollsters didn't have them ranked in the top 25. It just goes to show how much pollsters really know.

@bronco3250 Dont forget that NonBCS teams also play some of the easiest schedules in the country. The teams they play on a regular basis are teams BCS conference schools play for homecoming.

However, it isnt really true. It is all hype. The Big East sucks, the Big Ten sucks, the ACC sucks. The PAC 10 has about 3 teams. The rest suck.
So, when you say they play harder schedules, that ought to mean the NonBCS teams they play ought to be real simple. They are hardly simple.
NCAA football, like everything else is fucked up.

National Champions... in a system that outrageously favors teams from the SEC and other power conferences. If Utah had been in the Pac-12 in 2004 and '08, they would have at least 1 national title and perhaps a share of another in the last decade, which would place them among the most successful teams in recent history. Don't discriminate against programs that haven't had the opportunities that you have taken for granted

I would love to see a team like Alabama roll, no pun intended, into Salt Lake City. The vast majority of Utah wins against BCS schools are on the road. It's a whole new baby when you are on our turf. I look forward to seeing our competitors for years to come in the Pac 12 experience what we have, and perhaps scalp a few more SEC skulls on the way.

I dont get the joke I guess. If you compare the Alabama/Florida SEC championship game to the ass kicking Utah gave Alabama it is clear. You can only judge what you see on the field. Utah doesn't have to make excuses for a loss like Florida does for that season.

utah was the true champion. anytime you lose then it was proven you werent the best team period. it basically took all of 7 minutes for utah to smash alabama. 7 minutes into the 1st quarter utah had already put that game out of reach since alabama wouldnt score 21.
cfb can hand out popularity trophies to conferences like the sec who are too scared to line it up with anyone else but the real college football fans and experts agree utah was the best team in 2008 period.

@flwhrtrb90 You can keep lying to yourself, but Utah played nowhere near the schedule that Florida played. Utah did not have to line up and face a quality opponent almost every week. Most of Utah's games were equivalent to Florida's homecoming game. Utah didn't have to face good team week after week. If Utah had played Florida's schedule I guarantee they would have had 2 losses. Utah also didn't have to go to hostile environments that held 90,000+ screaming fans.

@luther44 Also funny, both the NCAA and SEC presidents spoke on this "investigation," and both stated that there was no proof that auburn did anything wrong or were even involved in the matter. They both went on to say that Auburn's championship was not tainted, but a great accomplishment. So, according to the people who actually know whats going on, (that doesn't include some asshurt loser spewing shit on youtube) Auburn is clean and will remain that way.

Did you not see Oregon Ducks what did they do to the runners up Stanford they dominated the PAC 10 they also beat TN a bad SEC team this year but Auburn was not domiant in the SEC they came out on top but they struggled in 4 or 5 of those games and they whipped the Ducks. And BTW isnt USC on probaltion for viloations forcing Regie Bush to return his trophy. During those years .they should have at least one National Championship revoked. The SEC is the best conference over all piriod.

For the second straight year in a row 10 SEC teams made it to bowl games....last time i checked no other conference has done that. The SEC is and always will be the best conference in football. As of right now neither TCU, Utah, or Boise could stop Cam Newton.

And whats the difference between whooping the Big 10 in the title game and playing them every year in the Rose Bowl? Congrats on the 06 rose bowl win over a Michigan team that beat 1 ranked team, and lost to the team that got blown out by the SEC champs, beating a 9-4 Illinois team in 07, and beating a Penn state team that beat two ranked teams.
