  • so nice to see a music show that has a dick in its hole!!(copyright andrew inbred harper)

  • l saw this when it was first on television live to air magnificent moment laughed my ass off even though l'm still sitting on it hope you get to the interview about SUICIDE and SNAPPER at the end

  • absolutely absolut

  • who buddy rich

  • It's like an angel is whispering blasphemies in my ears.

  • how the fuck did i get here from buddy rich. in response to the presenter at the start - i hate them. I love prog and math rock, but these guys blow. just rubbish. the singer is saying "printed my ass to see the sky"? what? just terrible. Buddy Rich makes you guys a bunch of douches.

  • @Peanutbutterfingers It's not prog or math rock, you dolt, it's noise rock.

  • @ALTERNATECHAOS I didn't say it was prog or math rock. I said I like those genres, but this is rubbish.

  • i'm really upset youtube brought me here right after watching Buddy Rich - Straight no chaser!

  • half the band was doing one song, the other half was doing another, thats why it sounds so wrong :)

  • @TheIkaraCult Do you know what 2 songs they were? I know ones sky, whats the other?

  • i hate to say this, but the live version is so bad compared to the record version....love this band though.

  • RAPE THAT FUCKING GUITAR

  • Terrible.

  • CLEARLY better than the Beatles. That's obvious. Lovely stuff.

  • sell outs..

  • this is one of the greatest things I have ever seen

  • with no disrespect, but has Bruce Russell EVER played a note or chord in his entire career?

  • Why the heck would he wanna do that?

  • @comfortg good answer.

  • Ive just watched the Flying Nun documentary on youtube, and Bruce Russel (the guitarist) says that he was doing a completely different song to the other two and they had to kinda wing it from there, still cool to watch though. Wish there were some more Dead C actual studio tracks up for people to listen to before they criticise this, cos theres a reason it sounds disjointed (but still classically Dead C nonetheless)

  • THE BEST THING ON YOUTUBE...

    Fuck the deadc HATERS...

  • New Zealands Finest...

    Better than the beatles...lol

    Suicide are awesome too...lol

  • nice bonus snapper!

  • "this isn't even music. this is trash."

I swear every video of music on youtube has this comment, noise rock or otherwise. Just goes to highlight how fucking abysmally stupid the average youtube comment is.

(Hey maybe -this- is the average youtube comment and I'm just oblivious)

  • frankly i think this sounds pretty damn average. the bass riff = totally basic and the drums too.

all you have is a generic punk riff and beat and some random noise and out of tune singing going on top of it.

  • If it's average, whatever. That's just like your opinion man. I can deal with that... I don't really listen to the Dead C, I don't even remember leaving that comment. But calling it 'not music' is just totally ignorant.

  • ummm,

where did i say it's not music?

i didn't like it and you do; who care?

  • bass riff? What bass riff?

  • they're genius

  • WE CARE :o

  • yr a fucking moron!

  • lolopinions.

  • what year is this?

  • I got into these guys in the late 80s/early 90s. Great to see they are still going sick.

  • Total twaddle.I thought they might have moved on. Stare at the camera more Mr p-Orridge.

  • is genesis p-orridge playing with them there?

  • Unreal! Saw Dead C live last night in Chicago. Absolutely great! Maybe not as energetic as this performance, but mindblowing just the same. Thanks for the post!

  • I rate this Dead C ...sky, I think it's about being inside the slammer for too long.

  • i wish they had more songs like this instead of drone. i'm a big fan of drone, but i was expecting more sonic youth stuff like this.

  • Lol Bruce Russell is my dad.

Funny seeing him on youtube really.

  • It is the original version created by Snapper.

  • the song in the second part of the video is Silverbullit's "Buddy"..

    "No more buddy buddy

    No more messing around

    I'm not gonna be your

    Be your fucking clown

    Whisper words I don't believe

I got teeth you cannot se

    Fire in my brain

That you'd like to put out"

  • Snapper did Buddy and The Fanatics covered it.

  • very nice... but sonic youth are darker.. there is nore atmosfhere in their song

  • you ever heard Harsh 70s Reality?

  • i live in a small town and i don't find the cd...but i really love sonic youth and other noise rock/punk bands and i think i will like this group too..

  • way better than Gilligan's Island

  • THE SKYYYYY!!

  • like a fine pinot...

  • Hash 70's Reality is a fantastic album.

  • this music transcends the Half-Truths that plague our lives in the Northern Hemisphere.

a cat walked by this and did not sleep.

  • Excelente!!!!

  • every kiwier is lier and stupider, don't trust them

  • yes. regardless, he is a cock.

  • Suicide were more no wave than electronica.

  • No wave was more of a scene than a genre

  • To all the people having a go at the presenter, might I suggest trying to be a little informed before spouting off. Graeme Hill/Humpreys was one main members of marvelous Flying Nun band Able Tasmans, a brilliant DJ on Auckland's BFM radio, incredibly knowledable & passionate about NZ music, & most impotantly in this instance almost certainly the only reason the Dead C got anywhere near a mainstream NZ TV studio.

  • Regardless; much like Micky Havoc, "Cred" Zero (as one of the Finn brothers once dismissed it) marked the tipping point for Graeme Hill's credibility. To host a show like this alongside air-headed bimbos like Francesca Rudkin completely cancels out any good he had done in the past. Like when a pillar of community becomes a child molester. The music of Dead C and Suicide IS brilliant, yet look at all the other fucktards in the studio.

  • the idea I get is that the guys on the show got to chose what they actually liked as it was near cancelled, the rest was shoved down their throats by marketing and producers like the rest of television (us, nz, uk, whateva)

  • Fascinating. Great crazy stuff.

  • i luv em..but if you ever see any one of these media prix in auck..killthem .scum

  • just to answer all the stupid vitriol thrown at the 'media scum' and 'sports jock'. this is dumg. the presenter is graeme hill (humphries) who was in fnun band able tasmans and has just as much right as anyone to be presenting this show..he probably knows more about music than you..ha. anyhow who cares anyway? (well me obviously)

  • i was there .snapper at orientation.years ahead of sterolab yo la tengo .rock on t rex

  • I don't believe I just saw that! The Dead C on TV, I'm speechless (for a change) - major thanx for posting it...

  • Amazing. A classic "noise-rock" band playing live and discussing Suicide (the first genuine electronic/industrial band, if you didn't already know) on a freaking pop television show!

  • Regards Suicide: I'd say Silver Apples or The United States Of America would be the first electronic band (not industrial strength, though).

  • yes they are part of that crazy genre known as "noise rock" just make sure you put it in quotes okay

  • i bet that chick is a big suicide fan

  • what made this show extra bad was that dumb-ass sport-head that hosted it. didn't he end up on some stupid rugby show?

  • You're really stupid. Do you not know who the "dumb-ass sport-head" is?

  • This is awesome. My question: did Sonic Youth rip them off, or did DC rip off Sonic Youth?

  • I dunno, but Dead C members have collaborated with Sonic Youth members, and Dead C recently appeared at ATP's Nightmare Before Christmas, curated by Thurston Moore.

  • yeah man i went to that festival i was way to stoned to watch the whole set haha tripped me out

  • Their set was awesome. They were one of the bands I had set out to see at the festival, mostly because of this clip.

  • Thyre opeing 4 sonic youth in feb, cant wait

  • I live in des moines iowa and I am going! I love the dead c, it will be worth it

  • .hahahahhahahahah. they have one guy just feed backing the guitar the whole time. YEES! fucken dumbasses lol.

  • Crazy like Primitive Calculators or something who I love!

  • That's awesome! We need more bands like the Dead C on pop shows. Puts the version on Harsh 70s Reality to shame too. Thanks for sharing this, I knew Youtube couldn't let one down!

  • Here's what Bruce had to say in an interview:

    http://www.furious.com/Perfect/deadc.html

"...End of the first soundcheck 'you're not going to break anything are you?' They were like 'oh my god these guys are out of their minds - have you heard what they're doing!?'"

  • TV show was "Ground Zero" back in the late 90s. I remember their shameless begging to get people to be their studio audience, before they were cancelled mercilessly. I can only guess that the Dead C were on cause them tv folks knew the show was already sunk, so did whatever the hell they liked.
