Treasure Beach was beaten a short head in The Derby and then won an Irish Derby. But he was murdered here. This race so reminds me of ARAZI'S breeders cup win.
I would love to see him race against Black Caviar... Now that would be interesting... but i still think all anyone will see of him on track is his backside :)
Lammtarra was in MHO, the most underated horse in my lifetime (54 years). He
was rated by timeform at 130, which is total nonsense. How can you rate a Derby/
King George/ Arc winner on 130 and rate Celtic Swing, 138?. Timeform is nonsense,
Lammtarra set the fastest Derby time of 2.32, (before Workforce's 2.31) a whole
12 seconds faster than Shergars winning time on the same going, good to firm. This equates to over 200 yards over the same course. His Kg and Arc wins were also 2.32
My dad has watched horses since the 60s,he said the classiest horse he ever seen was Nijinsky, cos he had so many faults but was brilliant,he used to sweat up,was highly strung horse, but had sheer brilliance, other horses he mentioned were Ribot,Sea Bird, and Brigadier Gerard.
Sea the stars is the best. Dancing brave just stayed 12 furlongs and was the most exciting horse I've seen. Lammtarra didn't race enough to be considered truly great and Nashwan is often over looked. Generous was also very good.
Lammtarra WAS special, but we saw too little of him to say JUST how good, IMVHO. Trajedy he was retired after only four runs, BUT he was only rated 130 by the END of that season: by the same age Seathestars was rated higher - you cld say we'll never know if Lammtarra was a 135+ horse & you MAY be right. We KNOW STS was & he was never really extended. His Arc win (whilst not his highest rating) was visually breathtaking. What you CAN say is Frankel is current best 6-8f in the world. let's enjoy!
It's downright SILLY to say a horse HAS to win over 10f, 12f or any distance to be the best ever. It's all relative. Aussie's tend to develop late & all their recent best (bar SYT) are sprinters. USA stars mostly dirt as turf's poor relation, tho' Gio Ponti's done lot to change that. Euro eyes are 10-12f focussed: doesn't make it right. Bottom line: Frankel is TOP rated in world ALREADY, is 8lbs clear of where CC was @ same age & it took BC until 5 to be rated 130. Pls God he runs in 2012
Very good horse , fantastic turn of foot. For me he needs to win over the 12 to be called one of the '' best 3 year old colts '' . Lammtarra , in my opinion was the best 3 year old colt ever.
There's no doubt that Frankel's a beast. But I'm not sure I'd lug him into the "unbeatable" category just yet? There's some other juvenile colt's that raced in 2010 that showed a ton of talent. That with a winters growth under their belt could potentially return as 3yr.old's this year and give Frankel all he want's. I'd be very anxious to see Frankel and Wootton Bassett in the same race. Also, Frankel's stablemate, Picture Editor, looks a thriving type. JMO.
@DeathKitty123456, I agree. As a matter of fact, I'd be willing to bet that Frankel's winning streak will end once Henry Cecil takes him to Goodwood for the G1 Sussex Stakes, and he has to face Canford Cliffs in that race. JMO.
@GBeret83 Frankel would tear Canford Cliffs another shitbox My friend. Canford Cliffs is clearly a good horse but in Frankel were talking about possibly the best 3 year old colt since I can remember and I've been lucky enough to see some good ones (Dancing Brave/Sea The Stars) Canford will have it all to do in beating Goldikova in the Queen Anne I reckon as she will follow her pacemaker and kick on 2 furlongs out with Canford using his turn of foot but not quite getting there....
@GBeret83 Frankel in his 2000 Guineas demolition job strode out as Henry Cecil knew the draw was bad and wanted him out in the clear. We saw in the Royal Lodge that he can sit in behind and then blister down the home straight, I firmly believe he is a quicker turn of toe than Canford Cliffs and his cruising speed is unmatched by any horse in the world at the minute. Frankel really is a monster of a horse..
No doubt about it. Frankel is a tremendously impressive 2yr.old colt. He just totally destroyed the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes field. Making him 3 for 3 in his juvenile career. He was also equally as impressive in his race prior to this at Doncaster. Easily pulling well clear of Rainbow Springs. Only in Frankel's maiden win at Newmarket has this colt been made to fight for a win. He's got company at the top though. With Dream Ahead, Wootton Bassett, and Pathfork all undefeated 2yr.old's also.
@GBeret83 Cannot see him losing the Dewhurst, If the had been quicker in the lodge he would have smashed the record no doubt, The time he made up in the last 3 furlongs was unbelieveable. Saamidd and Dream Ahead are obviously brilliant 2 year old colts, But Frankel looks the business. The all movement and the way he attacks when he gets to the front looks frightening...
