Sorry if you felt mislead but saying something happened before something else is addressing the situation. "...come back at dusk." is addressed by the statement, "The mother deer came for the fawn shortly afterward. (11:15 A.M.)" There is no need to wait until dusk if the mother has already retrieve the fawn. Therefore the dusk comment is already irrelevant to anyone who has read the description. I meant no hate or deception, just love for people that read descriptions.

The same thing happened to a guy I used to work with. The mom abandoned the fawn and It stayed near his shed for a day and a half. He bottle fed it for a few weeks and released it when it was healthy.

This fawn looks newly born. If he was born near a human dwelling and his mother isn't right there, it likely means this was her first fawn, she delivered, didn't know what to do and wandered off in confusion. She likely would have come back after hearing its cries, however, she bore the baby so close to humans that she would have been scared. She was likely hiding and listening in the woods nearby... She would have come back at dusk.
