@U2wild The amp is all Rack gear Digitech 1101 with bbe, graphic stereo eq,had 3 power amps at the time down to 2.This is my live set up with 4 4x14 cabs genz benz tribals, boogies and kustoms.the actual amp in this video is a Johnson 150 combo.no pedals.I do use a whammy live and a boss Slicer and boss looper. The sound I get from the chord is an old habit. What it is is same as a pinch harmonic or the squeal like Zach Wylde.I just do it to the whole chord to give it that pop.Sound Compressed ck
@jittboy1 Thanx for the time to answer my question. a lot of people won't take the time. I really, really like the "dark" toneyou get it is quite "haunting"- Sounds Great- thanx again, my friend != Steve
I'm just learning the positions of the major scale and you added a whole other dimension to my playing. I can't thank you enough for sharing your knowledge. I love shredding but a lot of people put it down to be very boring but they are so wrong. I'm really glad you picked up your guitar again. If you didn't it would of been a waste of talent. I wouldn't know what I know now about how to shred in the 1st position of the major scale.
Great vids man, help a lot and i keep practice as hard as i could. In your last comment of this vid you said you haven't play for 12 years. How come? What took you to quit playing for such a long time with such a talent. Hope the question is not to personal
@Arperoner I Was in 3 signed bands and got disgusted over the whole industry. It was too much politics and became a tremedous headache. So I walked away.I got sick 2 years ago and needed something to take my mind of life and there was the guitar sitting in the corner lol!!!!!!
@MrZombiefilth When I was younger anywhere from 3 hours to 8 hours a day but remember I am older and havent picked up a guitar for 12 years before this video so i was still rusty at this time and had forgotten alot of stuff i used to be able to do but thanks!
@FoxiDogMedia 6ths are you use every note going up the scale and play 6 notes up at a time so g note then e note then go to the a note then play f# then b note and play g note so on so on?hope that helps
dont know what the rest are on about, i've never tried to 'shred' but been playing a long time. understood all u said bout 'patterns', massive help and both easily and patiently explained. saved/stored, many thxs, ireland
It took me a good ten years to understand , that soloing , is all about knowing those " boring " scales . When you get to know what to do with them , boom , youre shredding ! Awesome man , ill stick by your channel ! So easy when you take time to get into it !
@menmeo its when you go down note by note in the scale but play a pattern.lets say sixths you play a g note and an e,then move to next degree which is a and play an a and f# so on and so on?hope that helps
@menmeo playing patterns based off each degree in the scale such as sixths you play g and an e then you move next degree which is a you play a and f# so so on hope that helps
@menmeo which part building chords off the notes in the scale? and for all whom want to know I will do a follow up to this expaining the scale degrees in the next week!!!!!
i wish i had seen this vid when i was learning how to shred-this lesson will with out a doubt inspire thousands of pickers. some one get this guy a seat in guitar world or guitar player-
Thanks my friend! I tried to show the easiest way I could guita teaching is confusing if people understood a scale only consist of 7 notes at a time and reapeat themselves in different positions lol!!!!My next one will explain this hopefully it will even simplify this. Thanks for your generous support!!!!!!!!!!
dontcha just love Locrian mode! Ive always wanted to learn to 'Shred' ..and am currently learning this G Major scale... So a HUGE thankyou to you for this lesson, which im having loadsa fun with! GREAT VID!.. GREAT TEACHER!!!
Great Video, good sound and great teaching , don't take me wrong but the position You are showing here is the 7th position of the G major scale as it starts from the 7th degree of the scale which is the F# , the 1st position would start on the 3rd fret on the G note.
Yes the F# is the diminished note of the scale tones.I wanted to show all the notes using finger positions. Most arent advanced enough to know the modes and which ones are minor or major.I will do some more vids explaining that later. You are correct the scale is G to G.g-a-b-c-d-e-f#-g which is also the same as eminor which has the same scale tones but starts on the E. Gmajor-Aminor-Bminor-Cmajor-Dmajor-Eminor-F#dimininshed for anyone who is asking lol!G is Ionian mode
F# is the diminished scale tone in the gmajor scale starting on a major scale tone major being ionian. f# is the last scale tone so yes its the diminished scale tone which is F# locrian which all the major scale tones never change starting on major which is major ,minor, minor, major, major, minor, theand diminished this series never changes in a major key.sounding locrian?F# is locrian in the key of g major.Like i said i dont care what note you start on, all those scale tones are used in that key.
this is my last comment i will not bother You anymore as i think you are taking me wrong.I am not trying to be an ass...I am just trying to be correct and to make it simple why not start with the 1st position of G on the 3r fret and arrange the scale in 3 notes per string would be much better(most of the famous shredders use the 3 notes per string scales) for shredding cause this way you avoid having2notes on the B string (notes D+E) and that is also very easy for everybody to understand. thanks
Because the way it is taught most players even advanced lack finger positioning when phrasing ,so if its set up this way it makes it easier in the long run,but harder to do say a 4th pattern with 2 notes on the b string. you should be able to work across the strings as fast as up and down the neck. This type of fingering with be difficult at first but its about finger positions without getting technical.mosr shredders do not go outside of what they are comfortable with thats why thet soundthesame
i know, some othe stuff is like... "yea lets learn to shred" then he starts of ok then starts pulling off these solos left right and centre and ur just left there thinking "you want to do that? how on earth am going to replicate that?!"
major and minor can be related such as g major and e minor are the same. The neck from the first fret to the 11 th fret are all scales so you have 11 major and minor scales plus harmonic minor whole tone ddiminished and a few others. But to stay basic think of the neck as one key for now and use the root note of say the gmajor scale and move that to different keys along with all the positions of that key. When you become more advanced you can get into modal playing!
sorry so long to get back with you! i use a marshall jackhammer and sometimes a boss superdistortion the yellow one.I run through two two hundred watt power amps in stero with a digitech 2101 studio tube processor. 4 4-12 cab/ 2 mesa and 2 jackson.i run an a+b switch to a johnson 150 watt millenium for cleans. This recording is done live through a fuji camera on the vid mode so even as good as it sounds, its not even as close to in person!!lol thanks!!!!
legato -pick the first note hammer next two- fifth string pick first note hammer the second note -pick the second note pull off to second fret first finger -go to six string pick the fourth finger pull off to the 4,,2,1 and repeat
the scales werent that hard memorizing them it was the different patterens up and down and acrosss the strings that took awhile at the rate of speed i can play,i can play scales faster than gilbert or cooley but it gets to a point of not sounding musical but to answer the question 14 hours a day for years as a kid!!!!!!!!but all depends on your dedication and how bad you want it!!!!!!!!!!
Very very helpful! Thankyou :D
