The reason it's ridiculous, is because theyr aren't even in the same regiment, so they are almost ineffective, if you wanna do what the airborne does greatly, suprise and attack before you can do anything to defend, but if you need to defend against a company, it's a lot easier. What are the 5 units you're talking about? If you're talking about rangers or marine paras, they are counted as Spc Forces They have 2 DIVISIONS (much bigger than Regiment), one Brigade (with three regiments)

Someone should start a Youtube Petition to get back the Airborne Regiment ever since it was disbanded in 1992 I think because of the Somalia Affair. It would be the best regiment in Canada since it's Airborne!!! ;)

Well there's JTF2 since 1993 Which do HALO jumps. And there's CSOR (Canadian Special Operations Regiment) that jump out of planes. And then again there's regular Infantry soldiers that are paratroopers. We still got it; its just under a different name

Yeah but I'm not talking about Special Forces, I'm talking about regular Infantry but paratroopers. From my research, we only have 3 Jump Companies in three different Regiments, so it's kind of ridiculous

Well the US has 5 airborne Units. (non-Special forces) and they are considered the world military superpower. I don't think that 3 regular jump companies is ridiculous at all. Maybe military study should be made on your part guy

hey just a quick question, how does one get to be able to go into this training? i havent seen anywhere in the canadian army site where they do these jumps except only offering it to certain people as their careers progress in the military. How would i go about getting into this?

The training that you saw is with an Infantry Jump Company. You can apply for the Jump course and receive your paratrooper quals, I did it in 2005. SO you have to be in the Cdn Forces, Then you can apply for your jump course, and if you so choose to do Inf, then you can do much of the training you saw in the video.

or if your a cadet or were a cadet you could do the basic para course and get your wings there and skip CF training
