this is an Australian television mini-series, called 'ANZACS' made in 1985, goes for 520 odd minutes, not a bad 'early' mini-series. it follows the 8th battalion of the A.I.F. (Australian Imperial Force) the shoulder patch, white over red, worn by soldiers of the 8th battalion was their identification patch, to them it was called 'blood and bandages' as taken from the colours. for a country of 4milion, we sent 330'000 troops overseas of whom 60% were casualties (60'000 dead and 166'000 wounded
@doctorwhotoclafane there were two different drum magazine's, a 47 round and a 97 round. the 97 were usually favoured by troops engaging the paper-mache mono/bi/tri planes of the era.
Thats hilarious. I think that officer with the reserves has one of those german pistols from WW2 with the attachable rifle stock for better accuracy. I could be wrong. Its at 3:42 - 3:45.
Regarding the comment by "jggrow". I know I shouldn't be, but I am still surprised by those who seem to believe being crass is synonymous with being witty and think if they can just shock they'll have magically scored their point(s).
Sad really, but I suppose it's the best "jggrow" can do. Alas foul language merely shows a limited vocabulary, while pornography a limited or lazy imagination.
Soldiers do indeed cuss - as do others. I would say it is far more likely that a soldier would have reason to do so. Epithets at times are appropriate - verbal exclamations points if you will. Hitting every sentence with an exclamation point however diminishes the meaning of said exclamation point, don't you think?
If all one can do is curse ... limited vocabulary. One is never a "victim" of a limited vocabulary as one chooses to have it.
Cherio old chap, some of our colonials are still dying out there, but let's have a serious talk, who gets to bugger first...you, oh jolly good. Just let me bend over and grease my ass, or would you like it dry?....fuck you.

@DeusBash Yep!
