  • i hold a nidan in kyokushinkai and a nidan in gkr, i used to teach for gkr, black belt should teach? some black belts couldn't teach you to hold a cup. japanese instructors? my name is kai takeshi (takeshi kai) does that mean im a better instructor than any one else because of my heritage? to say that can be deemed as racial comment. karate is not about which is better, who is stronger, its about respect, honor, humbleness which from what i have read is lacking from almost 90% of the comments.

  • Lol, after I saw this I know why all GKR videos are complete crap.

  • Very lorrel and Hardy haaaaaha

  • Yep they found these guys out in the alley and spent five minutes showing them saifa.

  • It's nice to see the Keystone Kops reforming

  • this is truly comical, just like GKR teachings

  • what a load of crap!!!! they look like they have yellow belts as instructors,Hang on thats right they do don't they and it shows

  • Would have been a lot more informative without the old film look and stupid music

  • is that sensei dion?

he looks really young there. hes still training in that vid nice one!

  • @charliecoops12 tis Sensei Dion, and Sensei Amanda too.....was a long time ago!

  • Not bad - perhaps you should have the kata shown in the video, rather than a crappy "olde film" effect.

  • Hey folks, interesting comments !

I was on of the 3 in the video, this was a demo & a bit of fun & should be taken in that spirit.

We were not orange belt Senseis at that time & are all now black belts. Saifa was chosen because it was quick to put together. Sepi would have taken too long.

We are all very committed martial artists instructors & take it very seriously,

We are all entitled to our own opinions and i respect that.

Please take this video in the spirit that it was meant

  • Why do people keep banging-on about GKR being a money making machine and the style not being traditional ?

For a start i don't know of any martial art that you can go to that is free, they all cost per lesson. And as for traditional style, GKR is made up from aspects of Shotokan Karate and Goju Kai Karate both of which Robert Sullivan trained in. This info was found on Wikipedia, incase you think i made it up ;~)

  • i have just had 2 people come round my house to offer me this and i said yes so fingers crossed i can afford it. does any one have any feedback on what GKR is like and if they enjoy it ? .. if so let me know ?

  • I have been at GKR for a while. It's a lot of fun, it's one of the cheepest Karate clubs around and there is a lot of fun to be had. The senseis are brilliant, they work you hard so that you learn and grow well. It's the best place i've spent my money on... ever. I do not regret it.

  • @saintgrafitti g.kr is a load of crap go and learn proper karate, go to a class and have a look i no i used to train with g.k.r, i now train with a 7th Dan, your chief instructor is only a 2nd Dan the rest he gave himself whats that all about ? my instructor was graded by the jappesse masters, for god sake wake up why don't you go and spar with a student another style and see how long you last ??

  • @saintgrafitti For god sake wake up, go to a proper karate class , i used to train with g.k.r and i dont rate it at all , its bullshido how the hell can a lower grade teach brown and black belts,None of them are recognized by N.A.k.M.A.S not even the black belt instructors, none them can't show you an blue nakmas instrutors liecence so they should not be teaching,GOD help you if you get hurt or end up in a wheel chair with those twats in charge, your paying for suliavan to live like a king

  • i do gkr karate and i can tell you that its more serious than this lol

  • you have to earn respect.

  • GKR Is a miz of Shotokan Karate and Go-Ju-Ryu Karate. The music is a mick take of our instructers i agree. But still as a student, i think you should ahve some respect for diffrent styles of Martial Arts.

  • I appreciate your comments, and you are right I should show some respect.

My tongue was firmly in my cheek as I typed - just seemed strange to me.

  • Hmmm. There's something strange here - GKR makes a mockery of karate-do, this music makes a mockery of its instructors. Are GKR trying to be taken seriously?

    Good training

  • dude i agree 100%. yellow belts are seneis and makin money is the number 1 dojo rule.

  • I train at GKR and I Agree. I have an Orange belt Teacher and I'm Green. They probably make alot of money. But the Senseis are dedicated and so ar ethe Students and GKR is really Freindly. They are a GREAT starting point for family karate, but not for "Black Belt" Students.

  • You have an orange belt sensei? I do GKR and seriously if I had an orange belt sensei I woulnd't be going to that class. I have 2 brown belt senseis and they are just 1 grade away from their black belt and they do a good job. I think to be a sensei you need experience and I myself am an orange belt an I have to say that is not experienced enough to only know 3 katas. I actually thought that it wasn't true to have yellow belts teach, but I guess now I see how its true and wrong.

  • @princelucifer86 I NEVER HEARD OF ORANGE BELT SENSEI OR BROWN FOR THAT MATTER, BLACK OR NOTHING.

  • @patveela "I NEVER HEARD OF ORANGE BELT SENSEI OR BROWN FOR THAT MATTER, BLACK OR NOTHING." blck belt is not even enough, im my country I had to have a Nidan to be able to do the teachers exam nowaday it is sandan which is in linke with Japan

I was instructed in many theoretical things, like Pedagogy, methedoligy, physiology and Psychology, you have to know how people learn and remember to be able to teach and you have to know how the body operates so you do not harm sudents with the exercises

  • what regoin is this

  • it was 13. now its 17

  • I was at this grading/demo and it has been very cleverly edited!

  • During the first 3 Punches, where does the unused hand go? Message me on yt thx!

  • If you mean the first 6 moves then the unused hand goes at your chest just as if your doing a kar-kay-uke (sorry i have no idea how to spell that.) Hope that helps. :)

  • good strong saifa but why do it this way? why not jut film the kata instead of cutting it and missing out most parts?theres another good kata ruined.

  • Was originally done as a demo at regional kata seminar I think.

Greeny just having a bit of fun with his editing skills which I think is really good!

  • tatialoveridge-whats the matter mate don`t you think I can do it?

  • Very well done Sampi's :) Nice way of doing it.. WIll use this for my tournament team....

  • What about Me guys? I might be willing to have a go!

  • yeah well we'll see

after the 11th we can get going

  • hiya.....just a simple question....wat program do you use to edit music onto your video's???? thx :)

  • good job jack. The saifas are good, and I like the in time out of time choreography, but I particularly like that you ran an age filter on the video to make it look like a piece of 1920s footage. The music was the piece de resistance!

  • The music does make the vid, It's I just love the crackling noise in the background.

  • Yep we will have to get Greenyok to do the Video for our next attempt doing Sepei

  • Ummmm....think my Sepai may need a little work first!

  • me u and D. get akb58 2 record............?

  • either way I'd be willing

  • Just to set things clear, this vid is gkr and i'm in it. We are instructors and proud to be ppart of GKR Karate. In this vid filmed at a regional seminar we just demonstrated something just outside the box. Choreographed demo just for something different.

  • ah! over in Hull! will we be seeing you at the world championships tomorow?

  • ffs guys! if they were trying to do it in time dont you think even a noob could do it more intime? obviouslythey arnt oother wise on the turning they would all go at differant times! geez guys use your heads!

  • I agree, I could see that they were doing things in seperate times, such as moving into 1st count position (feet together, fist-and-open-hand at right hip) while others at the same time (2nd count, Shika-datchi backfist)

I've also noticed your comments on other GKR-related vids. GKR Karate-Ka, perhaps?

  • haha was it that obvious?... yeah i am and im damn proud of it, i get wound up when people are constantly nit-picking at what we do, we are no worse than any other style. so which style do you train in?

  • GKR Karate-Ka myself. STP Sempai (Only 17) for region 31, taught under Sensei James Davey.

  • I love the music you did to make this funny. ^_^ But on a serious note, if this is team kata, this is very scary if they are instructors, as their timing is way out of sync. Even if it weren't team kata, every student, especially instructors, need to stay in time with eachother, Ideally starting and finishing at the same time.

  • yup thats team kata

  • Yes, i agree... the music makes it sound funny which is ok, but isnt that team kata? LOL nice job anyway

  • lol very funy ? y was the not in time

  • LOL ahahaha
