Saw her in concert in Portland in the 90's. She did something incredibly crafty on-stage: she stood on a platform that was lit from the bottom and did a dance similar to the one she's doing in the video... and it cast a shadow like a fish swimming in the water--- The audience went insane.

Even though I agree with comments criticizing the increased influence of large corporations in in what would ideally be the sole realm of the artist, I still love this video. She appears to be invoking and occassionally mocking a number of well-established visual and musical genres. She clearly loves to perform and the video is, in turn, immensely entertaining. PJ is about as far from that as it gets, but I have about 15 or so PJ albums and EPs, plus a fair collection of live and miscellaneous stuff like radio performances, and an acoustic studio set she did for KCRW in LA some years back. I probably have more PJ Harvey than any other single artist in my collection. I just love her!

With the exception of the sexy This is Love video all Polly's video's post the one's from this 1995 album haven't been anywhere near as good. Also if you look at a couple of other video's from To Bring You My Love including this one she is really very expressive and putting an effort into acting them, which she completely stopped from Is This Desire onwards, watch A Perfect Day Elise as an example. A bit of a shame really but I suppose just the music net became the priority. That's honorable.
