Dow chemical may pretend that they care but what they really created hear was simply a mirage. They try to cover up what they did by fabricating a vision to which stock holders of Dow chemical feel is the true vision of the company when really that vision is of nothing but Greed! Money once again has played its part in destroying life by letting fat cats in high places ignore what has happened in return for a tidy sum to buy that car they'll never drive or that house they'll never use!
All these stinking mass murder corporations are spinoffs of I.G. Farben, and all the pig-dog executives are directly trained by Operation Paperclip genocidalists.
Has anyone seen the new commercial on the history channel of Dow chemical company?? Ive been looking for it but cAnt find it and I'm obsessed with the song In the commercial. Can anybody tell me ?
The orignal commercial was to clean up their image from the water poisoning. Instead of using the money to help those affected or cleanse the poison they paid someone to make the original commercial. The sad thing is that I was fooled by the commercial, I hadnt even heard about their injustice until by pure chance I watched THE YES MEN FIX THE WORLD on tv. If there is one thing big business knows how to do well, its give people a false sense of security. Down with all liars like Dow.

Do you know how many are suffering from the Bhopal Holocaust and how many made millions out of it?
In the Bhopal genocide, one life worth $2000 and lungs/eyes and 16 years of suffering just $500; my MBA costs over $70,000. No Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), any more.
But I feel for the victims and my heart goes out to the broken hearts.
Tens of thousands of people are being poisoned TODAY in Bhopal, India. They having no source of drinking water other than an aquifer contaminated with toxic chemicals emanating from the abandoned Union Carbide factory.
Dow are 100% owners of Union Carbide and, despite what tell the media, there has NEVER been any recompense, either financial or otherwise, with regard to the water poisoning.
The (measly) compensation that was paid out only covered people exposed to Union Carbide's toxic gas.
I have sent cancer to all DOW chemical senior executives. Brain, lung, pancreas, skin, blood..all the good agonizing debilitating cancers for the subhumans at dow. May your families weap while you deathrattle for days. I may show up for your finals minute to dump an ashtray in your mouth and hose you down with urine.
If you can't imagine this happening in the US think again, it almost did. A fatal explosion occurred on Aug. 28, 2008 in Institute, WV. at the Bayer CropScience Chemical plant. This deadly explosion could have easily eclipsed Bhopal India. Bayer CropScience is the only chemical plant in the World that makes and stores enough MIC daily that can cause this kind of mass holocaust.

I've worked there for 3 years & Dow is great to its people, you need Dow's chemicals for your everyday life and sometiems BAD THINGS HAPPEN ON ACCIDENT!!!!!!! Try going a day without using one of dows products or a product that is made with dows chemicals. YOU CANT!
BTW I've been boycotting them for quite some time. 'cause I lived next to a Dow plant for most of my life, and guess what? Everyone here (still alive) has cancer or a neurological disease. Why don't you check YOUR facts, DedraMae020 before you give in to your company's brainwashing.
completely disregarding that DOW's many achievements don't take away the fact that Union Carbide is directly responsible for the death of more than two thousand people, i don't think you understand what "irony" means
Its crazy because I am a chemical engineer for Dow and I worked at there sub-plants in India and Thailand. The rules are so extremely strict for them. They are under constant watch and the safety guidelines were intense. The true monsters are the local chemical plants that do not follow any EPA requirements like Dow does. This is totally ridiculous. Try looking into the real problem. The chemical plants that do not take any responsibility or safety precautions.
Please first read about the entire story of bhopal gas tragedy (including commision report by UNION CARBIDE SAFETY ENGINEERS FROM US...) before you blame the locals for such a disaster. If you think the Dow upper management is not responsible, why the heck the (HONOURABLE) CEO of dow chemicals is absonding from indian justice. If you think the local are responsible why the local workers aren't given proper training to prevent such a disaster (so who is morally responsible then?).
Yes, the chemical idustry is necessary. But the corporate culture of these companies is geared towards profit, at the expense of safety. This original commercial was designed to counteract against the deservedly bad publicity from incidents like Bhopal, with no change in the underlying corporate culture. There's enough info to be googled on Bhopal, that bring to light the inside documents of this company, and others, showing what the intent of this ad and others like it are. Greenwash!
Do people not realize that Dow Chemical did not cause this? This should be blasting Union Carbide. Dow aquired Union Carbide in 2001-2002. Dow's actions did not cause this accident, Union Carbide's did.
Dow acquired the millions of dollars in profit from Union Carbide, knowing full well where this profit came from. Dow knew the liability it was taking on. A company can't poison millions of people and then "sell itself" and get away with it. The profits live on. So do the liabilities. And, in the 21st century, justice is not only for white people. All victims of injustice so severe they require serious medical treatment, must have the treatment paid for by the aggressor that caused it.
this is silly commerical - instead of wasting money on stuff like this, dow should take some social responsibility while propping up its sagging stock price
What I find depressing is the number of people who write in support of Dow. This is an unarguably evil and greedy organisation, who spend millions on advertising to claim ownership of 'humanity' and yet refuse to spend a cent on restitution for their actions in Bhopal. And Americans wonder why they're hated?
All injustice is wrong. Justice begins at home. WWJD? (What Would Jesus Do?) Heal the sick. Feed the hungry. Clothe the naked. Is it not as difficult for a rich man to go through the eye of a needle? Are not the rich responsible for righting the wrongs from obtaining their wealth? God did not make this earth for some to poison other's land. All land is sacred. No one deserves to be poisoned. Union Carbide, Dow Chemical, Monsanto, they all owe their profits to the people they hurt.
I had been an ex employee of DOW ...culture is very american....everyone works for the credit ....and drag others into something for which you get the credit...where leardership is called as dictatorship...and too much micromanagement...when yealry performance is done they see to it that only americans are fater promoted that they always rule the management ...so rude and yet it is germane to Human element
Dow is very much responsible for what we see in the video. Do a simple search on "Bhopal disaster". Have fun watching another wonderful American institution malign itself in the name of profit.
I hate the original so much I had to take the time to write this. It makes me wanna throw my tv against the wall. How can a chemical company be so environmentally friendly? They're one of the biggest in the world and they dump millions of gallons of chemical by-products and waste into the environment yearly.
The petroleum companies have adopted this same type of eco-friendly campaign. Makes me sick.
i made a video with images and video of the history of mankind, its a sad story, the end of the video i made of how i think its all going to end, pls watch this video, itll give u goose bumps, see it on MY CHANNEL
This clip is not about everyday industrial pollution. Dow manufactured chemical weapons (Agent Orange). Secondly, according to international law, Dow not only purchased Union Carbide's assets but also its liabilities, which includes responsibility for the Bhopal gas release that killed at least 2500 people. While Dow partially compensated the victims, it has refused to take responsibility for the environmental devastation, which was underestimated at the time of the initial settlement.
Agent Orange comment - there was a war going on and everybody got involved in the effort. AO was developed by US government and Dow only assisted in its manufacture. Therefore trusting the government and doing what was through to be best at the time to help the war effort.

(Continuation of the comment above) As a result of Dow's refusal to clean up its mess, thousands of people are slowly being poisoned. Dow's current efforts to reenter India have reinvigorated those who demand justice for the Bhopal victims. This includes efforts by elite colleges in India to prevent Dow recruiters from entering campus.

Unless you live naked in the woods..and have never received a vaccination.. never used plastic.. never used a computer... you have nothing to complain about.
why was there a child with a cleff pallet in there? that is a birth defect caused by individual geans. and the baby elephants were more likely victems of poaching not chemicals. but its your opinion of free speech and i respect that.
While I do agree that there is little integrity in a company that causes human suffering on the scale of DOW Chemical (all in the name of comfort and profit), there is even less integrity in this video clip. If you are going to point out the problems with DOW, use only pictures pertaining to the damage DOW has done. Dow is not responsible for ALL that ails the world, only a minute portion of it. These pictures destroy your credibility.
With out a company like dow there would be no computers air bags cars cell phone or even the fucking internet. You dip shits bitch and moan yet about something being evil yet you are using their products now
Can people really be offended by a commercial? If anything, the original was a well-designed ad. It may have not been "inspirational", but it didn't drive me to create a hateful video like this.
I doubt that all of these pictures in this video are even related to and chemical accidents by Dow. Most of the people that posted here really need to be able to enjoy a commercial without going off onto how the company kills people and arguing over that Bhopal Accident. Thank you.
@ScottPwn0r ...so how do you like british petroleum's warm and fuzzy commercials now? "beyond petroleum" happens to be pretty destructive, unthinkable business practice. enjoy it.
Union Carbide has stated that the explosion and subsequent chemical gas leak in Bhopal were a result of sabotage. Whether this is true or not, the company is still responsible for cleaning up its mess. Being purchased by another company does not absolve UC from this responsibility. I'm sick of people defending Dow with that sort of bullshit logic.
If you knowingly harbor a criminal, you can't say to the police, "He's with me, nobody is to blame now."
Do a google search for "dow unable to shake off bhopal" and read the first article. That will help explain the current situation.
Here's a good story about the Bhopal disaster. They inherited the liability when they bought Union Carbide and are trying to get off for payment and clean up.
Using heartwarming images and music to create a feeling of warmth and caring while associating it with a chemical company. It's totally ridiculous. The only reason they made this commercial was to help offset their negative image. How could anyone not see this?
How could anyone think coporate propaganda commercials are inspiring? This is so transparent --like all PR garbage-- and nausea inducing that I'm having trouble believing anyone could find it inspriring; if only because it's so insulting to anyone who thinks about it for 2 seconds.
this is why i hate marketing and advertising. the art of lies and deception. i cant bellive people are offended by this video because they found the original inspiring. the original is big lie!!
Damn you, I was just going come find the audio to make this video myself. But you have done it already. Very good. Exactly well done. Everyone should watch the culture jamming that the "yes men" did. They posed as Dow Chemical Executives on BBCworld and took full responsibility for the Bhopal chemical spill. search for "Yes men dow chemical." well done.
It is my understanding that the Bhopal disaster happend in 1984, while the plant was under control of Union Carbide, and Dow didnt come to control Union Carbide until about 15 years later, so why does everybody blame dow chemical?
Dow was obviously not responsible for the disaster; it bought the company years after the gas leak. The original commercial was beautiful; this seems to be a degradation of art, though it does show use the other side of the human element.
xrobx921, Wikipedia will flag/revert any change you make if it is unsourced. :)
You've missed the whole point! unfortunately what you're showing is the result of people the neglect the knowledge and wisdom, not the presence of human being, the human being is elemental and really can changes everything!
How have you used the knowledge that you have >? Criticism without action is nothing, you're only part of the problem......gimme solutions, not complaints. Ps. I'm not part of DOW, and IHAVE NOT NOTHING TO DO WITH DOW. Just my point of view.
whoever posted this is video is an ungly human being. Millions of people are inspired by the message of the commercial, but I guess that's not good enough for you. You must need everyone to feel as worthless as you do.
rainmaker look into dow chemical. The commercial they made is beautiful and inspiring, but their disregard for the ecosystem and poverty stricken brown people argues to the contrary. This is one of the best videos on youtube
I meant to give you a thumbs down. The inherent irony of the commercial makes it a travesty. Research at length Union Carbide, DOW Chemical and Proposition 65. You will find many ugly things squirming on the underside of DOW.
The orginal commercial is unarguably magnificent advertising. And as much of a fighter as I am for issues of this nature, this somehow - did the reverse. I only say this so that the organization can see what one of many viewers feels, and perhaps for an audience of my nature, go about a different way to catch our attention, and our emotions.
jesus get over yourselves, kids. reguardless of political stance or psuedo enviornmental concern, the original commercial, in itself, from an aesthetic and design concept is really fucking rad.
Oh my god. That is all I have to say. Whoever made this is some sick twisted person. The original DOW commercial, is just amazing. But this, this ruins it. Now whenever I see the great original human element commercial, I will think of this disgusting ass video. THANKS A LOT GUYS!
this is one of the worst things i have ever seen. you have put a perfectly benign and generally nice commercial and placed it beside something, that i will admit, is not good at all, but still, the speech is one of the best that you can hear. also, how sure are you that conditions have not improved since?
Bhopal? That accident occurred years before Dow purchased that facility, not to mention, it wasn't even an accident, it was sabotage by a disgruntled employee.
I agree, Union Carbide (the sole manufacturer of Methyl isocyanate) owned the plant in Dec of 1984. However, you are dead wrong about the cause of the poisoning of Bhopal. All investigations proved that the accident was caused by poorly maintained equipment--not a "disgruntled employee" as the company wanted the public to believe. It's time to STOP BLAMING THE VICTIMS and start holding companies responsible--even when they SELL in an effort to avoid liability!
'ProHumanity' ? C'mon Dow. I would think your legal department could do better than that doublespeak. You knowingly bought liability for Bhopal when you bought the Union Carbide Corporation in 2002. Stop beating the dead horse of the 'sabotage theory' and do what humanity really needs -- for you to clean up Bhopal.
Dude, go to hell. I'm an IT professional with no connection to DOW. But see I understand the realities of the world. We need solutions to real problems like starvation and disease, and that is technology. Period. Will there be mistakes? Yes, but successes will outnumber them 1,000 to 1.
You can think what you want, or go ahead and contact me, and I can prove I have no connection to Dow. I am a believer in humans and science. The answer is NOT to bury our heads in the sand.
yes we need solutions but not in an autocratic ways where money making buisness have no ethical obligation...Dow will be building factory in Chakan, Pune...and all the dirty chemicals will be manufactured there...why India ? because it is a simple job there !!! and humans are dying there anyway !!! Pro huminity believers makes the distinctions here ...very sutle distinction...save humanity in the western world and kill humanity in the eastern world ???
When a company buys another company, it acquires its liabilities as well. That's not nonsense, thats the law in both the US and India. Dow set aside $2.3bn to settle Union Carbide's US asbestos liabilities. So then what about its Indian liabilities? Or are Indians just not AS human as Americans? UC had still not settled the liability claims before Dow bought them. Dow is promising the Indian govt. 1bn$ of investment in India if the liability claims are dismissed.
Yeah, that people are telling the truth on YouTube about big ol' Dow, it is indeed proof that technology can be a real tool for human empowerment and justice. Peace, ProHumanity & stupidmfuk. And, uh, stupid... like, time to think for 2 seconds before you write!

And everyone buys into it. :(
Dow is so clever.
Nice job on this parody.

Five Past Midnight in Bhopal: The Epic Story of the World's Deadliest...
By: Dominique Lapierre (Author), Javier Moro

This clip is not about everyday industrial pollution. Dow manufactured chemical weapons (Agent Orange). Secondly, according to international law, Dow not only purchased Union Carbide's assets but also its liabilities, which includes responsibility for the Bhopal gas release that killed at least 2500 people. While Dow partially compensated the victims, it has refused to take responsibility for the environmental devastation, which was underestimated at the time of the initial settlement.
hunter1957 4 years ago
Agent Orange comment - there was a war going on and everybody got involved in the effort. AO was developed by US government and Dow only assisted in its manufacture. Therefore trusting the government and doing what was through to be best at the time to help the war effort.

(Continuation of the comment above) As a result of Dow's refusal to clean up its mess, thousands of people are slowly being poisoned. Dow's current efforts to reenter India have reinvigorated those who demand justice for the Bhopal victims. This includes efforts by elite colleges in India to prevent Dow recruiters from entering campus.

"beyond petroleum" happens to be pretty destructive, unthinkable business practice. enjoy it.
RebelliousbyDesign 1 year ago
Union Carbide has stated that the explosion and subsequent chemical gas leak in Bhopal were a result of sabotage. Whether this is true or not, the company is still responsible for cleaning up its mess. Being purchased by another company does not absolve UC from this responsibility. I'm sick of people defending Dow with that sort of bullshit logic.
If you knowingly harbor a criminal, you can't say to the police, "He's with me, nobody is to blame now."
grobe42 4 years ago
Do a google search for "dow unable to shake off bhopal" and read the first article. That will help explain the current situation.
Here's a good story about the Bhopal disaster. They inherited the liability when they bought Union Carbide and are trying to get off for payment and clean up.

Using heartwarming images and music to create a feeling of warmth and caring while associating it with a chemical company. It's totally ridiculous. The only reason they made this commercial was to help offset their negative image. How could anyone not see this?
jbrownil 4 years ago
How could anyone think coporate propaganda commercials are inspiring? This is so transparent --like all PR garbage-- and nausea inducing that I'm having trouble believing anyone could find it inspriring; if only because it's so insulting to anyone who thinks about it for 2 seconds.

Damn you, I was just going come find the audio to make this video myself. But you have done it already. Very good. Exactly well done. Everyone should watch the culture jamming that the "yes men" did. They posed as Dow Chemical Executives on BBCworld and took full responsibility for the Bhopal chemical spill. search for "Yes men dow chemical." well done.
apc262 4 years ago
It is my understanding that the Bhopal disaster happend in 1984, while the plant was under control of Union Carbide, and Dow didnt come to control Union Carbide until about 15 years later, so why does everybody blame dow chemical?
tigersfan155 4 years ago 3

Carlosrzz 4 years ago 2
whoever posted this is video is an ungly human being. Millions of people are inspired by the message of the commercial, but I guess that's not good enough for you. You must need everyone to feel as worthless as you do.
rainmaker102 4 years ago 3
rainmaker look into dow chemical. The commercial they made is beautiful and inspiring, but their disregard for the ecosystem and poverty stricken brown people argues to the contrary. This is one of the best videos on youtube
apc262 4 years ago
I meant to give you a thumbs down. The inherent irony of the commercial makes it a travesty. Research at length Union Carbide, DOW Chemical and Proposition 65. You will find many ugly things squirming on the underside of DOW.
ibphotos 3 years ago
The orginal commercial is unarguably magnificent advertising. And as much of a fighter as I am for issues of this nature, this somehow - did the reverse. I only say this so that the organization can see what one of many viewers feels, and perhaps for an audience of my nature, go about a different way to catch our attention, and our emotions.

another aspect of the human element. It sucks to be in that condition. Well... life is unfair right?

ProHumanity 5 years ago
I agree, Union Carbide (the sole manufacturer of Methyl isocyanate) owned the plant in Dec of 1984. However, you are dead wrong about the cause of the poisoning of Bhopal. All investigations proved that the accident was caused by poorly maintained equipment--not a "disgruntled employee" as the company wanted the public to believe. It's time to STOP BLAMING THE VICTIMS and start holding companies responsible--even when they SELL in an effort to avoid liability!
Diane2951 5 years ago
'ProHumanity' ? C'mon Dow. I would think your legal department could do better than that doublespeak. You knowingly bought liability for Bhopal when you bought the Union Carbide Corporation in 2002. Stop beating the dead horse of the 'sabotage theory' and do what humanity really needs -- for you to clean up Bhopal.
bhopalmemory 5 years ago
Dude, go to hell. I'm an IT professional with no connection to DOW. But see I understand the realities of the world. We need solutions to real problems like starvation and disease, and that is technology. Period. Will there be mistakes? Yes, but successes will outnumber them 1,000 to 1.
You can think what you want, or go ahead and contact me, and I can prove I have no connection to Dow. I am a believer in humans and science. The answer is NOT to bury our heads in the sand.
ProHumanity 3 years ago
yes we need solutions but not in an autocratic ways where money making buisness have no ethical obligation...Dow will be building factory in Chakan, Pune...and all the dirty chemicals will be manufactured there...why India ? because it is a simple job there !!! and humans are dying there anyway !!! Pro huminity believers makes the distinctions here ...very sutle distinction...save humanity in the western world and kill humanity in the eastern world ???
tweetytweetye 3 years ago
If what you say is true, then expose their crimes in a nationwide ad campaign, or film a documentary and promote a boycott.
But misinformation like this, and nonsense of blaming DOW for a problem Union Carbide had 10 years before DOW bought them is absurd and daft.
If there is any credibility to be had here, make a case, not just a montage of unrelated photos.
Agent Orange? Blame the corrupt officials who were too cowardly to declare war, and yet took us to an unconstitutional war anyway.
ProHumanity 3 years ago
When a company buys another company, it acquires its liabilities as well. That's not nonsense, thats the law in both the US and India. Dow set aside $2.3bn to settle Union Carbide's US asbestos liabilities. So then what about its Indian liabilities? Or are Indians just not AS human as Americans? UC had still not settled the liability claims before Dow bought them. Dow is promising the Indian govt. 1bn$ of investment in India if the liability claims are dismissed.
pleiadesclutter 3 years ago
Yeah, that people are telling the truth on YouTube about big ol' Dow, it is indeed proof that technology can be a real tool for human empowerment and justice. Peace, ProHumanity & stupidmfuk. And, uh, stupid... like, time to think for 2 seconds before you write!
