I am African-American, and I voted for OBAMA because I felt that he was qualified and prepared to be the President. I truly felt that HE was a candidate for the people. I was happy that HE is also African-American. I had no intention of voting for Jesse Jackson when he made a bid for the presidential office, and he is African-American. The President is AFRICAN AMERICAN get over it. He certainly is not worst than the last 5 presidents that we have had. Let's give HIM a chance. He is a good man.

Obama is a conservative. If white conservatives would get beyond his color and his party membership, they would recognize they don't have very much disagreement with him. There's not much ideological difference between Michael Steele and Obama. Obama accommodates to the same interests as Bush did. Obama is not a "black" man. He's a half-white who was raised by his white mother and grandparents.

@flyboymd82 I didn't vote for Obama bc of skin color. I voted for him bc I didn't like Palin. I would have voted for McCain if he had a stronger VP candidate. He's old - or at least looks it, what if he died while in office? That meant that Palin, who could see Russia from her back yard, would be in office. She couldn't even handle her own governorship - someone else ran things for her. I need someone who can at least appear to be intelligent without being coached.

What it all comes down to is when Barack showed up with his positive outlook on everything he was easily accepted but other positive men like him are shunned because of something so simple and something people dismiss often. He is a light-skinned biracial man. Light skin has been the praise within the "colored" community for so long. Its all over the western hemisphere and Democrats noticed that and they got their man in there. I can't lie and say I didn't vote for him.

Obama's approval rating is so high among blacks, because the overwhelming percentage of them are Democrats.
No other racial group supports one party in the high percentage that blacks support Democrats.

He is just as much white as black. Infact if you wanna go genetic-wise, he has more genetic inheritance from his mother. One is because he is male, and all X-linked genes. Second is all mDNA/epigenetic inheritance.

He is mixed, but what most people try to deny is that most (if not all) african americans are multi-generational mixed if not biracial like Obama.
