I remember first hearing SOIA on the NYHC comp put out by Revelation eons ago. Last caught these guys in 1995 and had pizza with them right next to my work. Even though hardcore doesn't appeal to me the way it used to, I cannot help but be overly impressed when I hear new music from them. You guys do realize these are all the bands that are from the discontinued Abacus Recordings label, right?

These bands were on a seperate imprint of Century Media for hardcore/metalcore much like Century Black was for underground black metal bands.

These videos are all 3-5 years old and are not new signings by any means, just new postings.

no, it's actually just a heavier version of punk, in my opinion, there is no emo in it(thank god!). but it's more than just the musical style, hardcore is DIY(do it urself), it's about rising up and doing what you think is right for yourself, at least, that's how i see it

ugh... way wrong on the emo part. Hardcore Punk is just an more modern more aggressive screaming type of punk. But the word "hardcore" now a days mostly means a fusion of hardcore punk and metalcore. It's basically metalcore, but leaning way on the "core" side, rather than the metal side. This particular type of hardcore is called New York hardcore. Bands like "Terror" are famous for using this sound.
