It is taken from a combination of blue jay and sparrow hawk, (both very troublesome birds) which represented thieves and murderers in the early years of the conflict between Missouri and Kansas in the days of the Civil War.

The name Jayhawk stuck to Kansans and became symbolic of patriots who worked to make the state and country slave-free. The First Kansas Cavalry was also known as the Mounted Kansas Jayhawk Regiment.

I was wondering the same thing. You know I think you guys would have won had you kept running. That guy is an idiot. Actually, truth be told, I quit watching shortly after the second half started - right after KU intercepted it and then lost it on the same play. I was getting so pissed that I just left and played some pocker. All I could think of was, "there goes KU's validation for this season" My faith in the 'hawks was pretty shaky.

The music and the 3 other videos this guy made degrading the Jayhawks and their right to be in the Orange Bowl that at least had two guys in them so they somewhat resembled the Mac ads. My point was that for some reason in this one he totally went off the format of the ads and instead just pretty much made a rant set to the the Mac commercial music.

Look, in general I have no problem with the Hokie fans, as most of the ones I encountered in Miami were a pretty classy group. I just think these "ads" are pretty funny in light of our victory. If KU didn't deserve to be in the Orange Bowl, what does that say for VT? Never understood that logic, degrade your opponent so that if you beat them you in essence beat a nobody and if you lose you really look like an idiot for losing to an overrated team. Congrats on a great season anyway.

What? I don't think that is what I was saying at all although I'm not sure where you're coming from. My point was that anyone from VT saying that KU isn't a worth opponent sets them up for failure. Even if you had won it takes away from your own win because you have by your own argument played an unworthy team. Wouldn't it make more sense to build up your tell the country how good your opponent is. You can bet that is what we at KU are doing. So like I said, great season.
