  • Why are people arguing what is and isn't punk? That is exactly what goes against what punk is, the whole point of punk is that you do/dress/listen to whatever you want to, and not care what other people think. Punk isn't a mohawk, skinhead, short back and sides, leather jacket, shirt and tie, it really doesn't matter. What matters is your attitude, and you people have got it wrong. And if you think punk is dead, you aren't trying hard enough to find it, it definitely is not dead.

  • AHHHH COACHELLA!

  • I see a lot of you talking about "normal clothes"... Makes me sick. I am normal. All you fuckers are weird.

  • amazing video. punks dead. give it a rest the fighting.

  • TRICKY GUITAR SOLO!!!

  • Faster!

  • the minimalist guitar solos were a rebuke to the 'prog rock' bands of the 70s

  • @seanie002 - you're right - I love all 70s music including the early 70s - but The Buzzcocks use of one or two notes was brilliant - Ever fallen in love is a classic example.

  • this guy was actually a very good songwriter,he was quite deep...

  • Was this the same gig that Warsaw played

  • CHEEKY GUITAR SOLO

  • Next 9 persons on our planet are faggots, I say.

  • a life

  • i've got this on document called "the way they were"

  • awesome energy

  • Saw this band last night in Austin, and even as old men they rocked the socks off of the crowd. That's true punk.

  • nice lads in shirts and ties. studying for their O-levels.

  • "tricky guitar solo", love it! Such a great band, definitely one of my all time favourites!

  • @JoeyRamonerulz I think he says " Cheeky " its british slang,means likes halfass

  • Fuck me I was there ... silly old t**t

  • @youbeendrinkinrob i envy that bro... be proud but punk in your beliefs.

  • Not a single mohawk or leather jacket is sight! This is real punk!!!

  • @A310fan lol'd.

  • @A310fan fuck labels

  • @A310fan thats so true ,,,and when arsees made things silly,,,,hey but joy division was on the way

  • @A310fan You don't have to have a mohawk or leather jacket to be punk. Punk is mainly rebelling and also being different from the other music that is mainstream. Punk songs can actually be about anything and everything!!!

  • @A310fan yes it is but you got to know that punk is like pop music in england but later there was all of that .

  • @A310fan What about the Ramones?

  • @A310fan so the Ramones aren't real punk?

  • @A310fan u have to wear certain clothing to be a punk? You must be a poser that likes it up the butt.

  • @jamjuice1a What are you talking about you fuckwit? Learn to read simple English for fucks sake!

  • @A310fan Your saying that anyone who has a mohawk or leather jacket arent punks dumbass. I can totally read english but can u stupid kid? Im saying this again because your too stupid to understand the first time. IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU WEAR! You better know that or imma take that dildo u play with on your butt away from you!

  • @jamjuice1a

Again, sorry, I cannot understand your childish hieroglypic babbling!

I suggest you take your text language and your mohawk & leather jacket (that you seem to be so fond of!) and use it like the dildo that you seem also to be so fond of and shove it!

You're obviously a member of the intelligence community... NOT!

(plus - 35 thumbs up on my original comment - doesn't that tell you something? Probably not though!) haha!

  • @A310fan you got 35 thumbs up because people thought that u meant it doesnt matter what you wear but ur calling every person who has leather jacket a person that is not punk? Ramones? Sham 69? Your a fool if you think that wearing normal cloths makes u a punk. You can be punk wearing a leather jacket or normal clothes. And I do not have a mohawk or leather jacket. i wear normal human clothing. plz take that dildo out of your ass you punk poser

  • @jamjuice1a if you had any brain cells or knew anything about punk whatsoever, you'd understand tht this guy is reffering to the Original punk style & the tru punk way. leather jackets and mohawks came later on with all that crazy annarchaic shit some of which was exclusively voilant for no reason whatsoever, promoted nothing but hatred. I own a leather jacket & yes, punk has no REAL dress code but the the image became symbolic to me of a real violant without message crap, thats when punk died

  • @A310fan 100% agree

  • haha the drummer is fucking tight! ;D

  • biblically you ,must know

  • anybody know what year this video was made?

  • yeah 77 it even says so

  • Whats this I hear about some band called good charlotte playing this song? Fuck that.

  • I`ve never been one to knock a band who plays tribute to their influences. Some renditions are better than others. I love Wall of voodo`s Ring Of rire. Cash fans must have had a fit. Social D did justice on the same tune and quite tasteful. good on you Social D! Thefact is this song is nomore sacred than anything ever done before. Just hope they can live long enough to cash in on cover royalties. Come on, FYC covered them! That is disturbing.

  • Ha, fair enough bruv! Point well made :]

  • Hay if it can get a younger gen interasted in real punk so much the better "....Punks Not Dead ...It's just sold out>>>"

  • class - a great solo on cut-in-half starway guitar!

  • Led zep at the o2 arena? ram it.Raw sounds in a little piss stinking club drinking warm lager out of a plastic glass, doin the pogo soaked in sweat. You just couldnt beat it!

  • full on agree ;)

  • Wicked. Under rated band this lot.

This lot are playing just down the road in Crewe on May 2nd, supported by my bro's band. check them out at youtube.com/highwiredmusic, they're alrite....

  • love that cheeky guitar solo almost on one finger , But still makes me howl with laughter, saw this lot years ago when they reformed and their first gig was at reading festival

  • i especially love the announcement just to make sure ppl notice

  • hey this lot are playin at the MClub in Crewe in May, my mates band are supporting them. Check out highwiredmusic on youtube and sus em out, not bad me thinks.

  • hey this lot are playin at the MClub in Crewe in May, my mates band are supporting them. Check out highwiredmusic on youtube and sus em out, not bad me thinks.

  • fucking great.

  • led zepplins having a show at the 02 in november

  • Well heres a bit of history for you Pete Shelly here used to come up to Lowton youth club to watch my band practice always had his parka on even in summer.. have a good one at the 02 arena Pete. remember John H Baz J Steve B Chris D in Taxi and the Naughty Boys, Yig Hughes and Dave Blower

  • mythical

  • raw, amatuerish, often out of tune, but still beautiful! that's the buzzcocks for you. a beautiful racket.

  • I first heard this song in the movie Ghost World, its cool.

  • same here.

  • Ya, me too, it rules

  • I heard this song first time age at 7 and have been hooked ever since.

  • 30 years on, and these tunes still stand up. The attitude may be "punk" but the best of these bands - Buzzcocks, the Jam and the Clash, most notably - made some of the most exciting and tuneful rock and roll ever made, "classic" in every sense. I still play "Singles Going Steady" all the time, and my 7 year old son sings and pogo's all over the room to this tune among others.

  • Tis was my syster's favorite band...

  • wow its definetly faster live than in the recording! The drummer is tearing it up!

  • amazing song!

  • If your honestly posting about how amateurish the talent is then you have no business commenting on anything punk rock

  • The whole idea of punk was that it didn't matter if you could play your instruments well. So if someone criticizes a punk band because they don't think they sound professional - well that's the fucking point of punk - you don't have to be a fucking rock star to get on stage with your mates and have some fun. So to all you Buzzcocks haters, go listen to your "Rush" and "Emerson, Lake, & Palmer" records.

  • Agreed. You don't need a polished sound... in fact if you have an ear for good music then sometimes a raw/unpolished sound can actually sound better. Well, anyway if people think the Buzzcocks suck then it's only because they like to be spoon fed conventional sounding BS.

  • Seriously though, if you don't believe me and want proof just look at the 70s. There was a HUGE amount of SUCK ASS popular music. Makes me sick thinking about how bad some of that music was. BUT thankfully it also had some actual GOOD music (like The Buzzcocks) that rose up from the underground.

  • It is no wonder that these bands came out of nowhere with such a passion. Music sucked so bad. Rock is passionate, crude revved up tempos and simple bar chords. Don't believe that it's solos, tones, and BS wailing and crooning...you don't fucking need it. Better off just adding extra harmonies. These bands really did keep us from collectively choking on the conventional BS of the times. Granted turns out there is A LOT of bad music nowadays but imagine how much worse off we could have been.

  • Yeah, disco back then blew. What we really need right now is another underground revival with some real passion, not produced manufactured bullshit.

  • I vantz.

  • Buzzcocks are the kind of band that if you don't likne them then you've obviously got no idea about anything and should fuck off and do something else - best singles band ever

  • Nice rough, fast, and short punk song. That's the best part about agood punk song, it ends 1 second before the song starts to suck.

  • classic!!!

  • Drummer a bit over the top?? He's a bloody genius! Love Pete buggering up the guitar chords after the solo and love the massive, gurning Garth on bass.

  • pete's guitar gets cracked during the solo

  • Thier songs and their energi really inspires me but I think the drummer is a bit over the top on this one! The first song I heard with The Buzzcocks was Boredom... brilliant song! With "Boredom" "Singles Going Steady" would have been nothing but PERFECT! In my mind "Why can´t I touch it" (#15) is a true gem...

  • Brilliant...........

  • Yeah about as brilliant as 5 year olds playing on toy instruments..

They all suck and the drummer is not good. Fantasy land?

  • yeah fuck you too you cunt!

  • so wat famous band are you in then mr been there done that??

  • A true punk band! We need more like them to rid America of plablum emo puke poseurs!

  • The perfect pop song anyone?

  • I am 25 years old and was unfortunately raised in a super religious home where the only music played was Bing Crosby and Lawrence Welk. Six years ago, when I had moved out I discovered this song when it was used in the movie Ghost World. The next day I bought Singles Going Steady and in my opinion it is one of the best albums I have ever heard (even if it is a compilation), with every single song being nothing less than excellent. Thanks for posting this.

  • i gave my mate their singles going steady album.. i think i fucking saved her from a life of shit music. praise me please?

  • John Maher's drumming is Unreal! A lesson in controled aggression

  • I dont get it...lol

  • dude pearljam are a great band who play excellent shows right good lyrics make good songs are political and care for the enviroment so go shove it up your arse.

  • pearl jam are also really boring, so what's the point.

  • what do i get no love, what do i get, no sleep at nights LOL i love that part!

  • The first punk single I bought... I thought I was so hard! What a trip! This takes me back pogo-ing at the LEB socials...

  • I just want a lover like any other, what do I get!

  • i agree with pearl jam comment, to mention them on a buzzcock vid site is contemptable, no offense, but if this was a video for some modern schlock band, then it would be an o.k. comment. sorry for the insult, but yuck

  • ha...I like how he introduced his guitar solo.

  • 2 fucking great for words...i love this.

  • check the guitar solo! thanks for sharing, i love the Bzzzzzzzzcocks ^_^

  • Sorry, I mean Steve Garvey was on bass. I'm getting old....

  • you mean garth was on bass

  • Man this is old - Howard Devoto is on bass...

  • howard was out of the band at this point.I belive thats garth on bass.

  • tricky guitar solo!

  • Played on his legendary half missing Woolworth's Audition guitar.

  • ...the blue room, I think every room...innovators of catchy punk, remember most of it was shite, they weren`t and aren`t.

  • The Buzzcocks are so influence more bands, like The Blue Room. You know that band?

  • ive just started to get into the buzzcocks, they are amazing...plus there one of pearl jams influences XD XD

  • pearl jam? argh! if they had even an ounce of the tunefulness, songcraft, humor and cheekiness of the Buzzcocks, they might be listenable. But they don't and they aren't.

  • DEAR GOD I LOVE THE BUZZCOCKS

  • wow. i was at this gig

  • wow, that's amazing

you are the luckiest person i know
