  • @4:39-4:45 Did u hear the runs in Derrick's foot

  • @ 2:16 - 2:19 was dynamite...What's that called?

  • The movements that start at 4:16.........OTHERWORLDLY!!!!

  • 4:14- 4:31 INSANE!!!!!!

  • Derrick is the greatest!!!!!!!!

  • This guy is simply beyond mere words!

  • god bless u derrick. where's part 3

  • 2 16 217

  • YEAH!!!! finally I found part 2, I was getting mad after seeing the first video end the way it did. Keep posting, thanks!!!

  • I don't personally know Mike Bereal, Kevin Powell, or Eddie Brown, but I bet they know Derrick Jackson. If they didn't learn personally from him they learned from somebody who learned from Derrick or was well influenced. No doubt!

  • They definitely know him - we would all see each other at AIM every year, if nothing else.

Besides that, it's a small world among gospel musicians, especially if you ever played for a church choir that was singing at somebody's anniversary service every other week!

  • Cool

  • I never new that things would come to this. My mom and Derrick Jackson mother Mom Jackson used to be co-workers at my school in the early 90's. She was the Director for the school Choir which me and my brother where apart of and one year the family put on a concert for the whole school. I didn't at the time know how blessed I was to see and be exposed to that but I am truly greatful.

  • I just noticed that you can see a lot of the ridiculous stuff that Kevin Powell plays was influenced by D Jackson.

The amount of Hammond organ talent within the church of God in Christ could shut down just about any conservatory on the planet.

  • he killed it

  • This must be part 2 of this man...4:12 on out is chord and run crazy, wow!

  • it would nice to put him in a room with wendell lowe, P.j morgan, twinkie clark that would be a disgusting shed

  • he killed me at 2:16-2:18

  • me too, my man...

  • man he is a vicious organist. Maestro is his name!!!

  • If u take notice Derrick plays in peace he really gets into his playing he feels it. He seems like a humble guy. Praise god for musicians like this.

  • This man's musical skills is from another stratosphere other than the one the rest of us reside on.

    Awesome. Clearly, God's servant.

  • He has a Billy Preston flair to him ...

  • @ChiOne07...Yes he does!

  • Believe it or not? Butch and, Derrick are Good Friends! And, yes Butch can 2 play like that!! Different styles but both of these dudes are Dangerous!!!!!!!

  • i get tears in my eyes watching and listening to this..it goes beyond simply playing,,its love..God plays through this man!!

  • YES This is what I'm Talking About! Derrick is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Reminds me of Butch Woodie from St.Louis

  • Alfred Bolden was obviously a Great Influence on this Great Musician! As for the Hymn question earlier, "Only What You Do For Christ Will Last", is the Hymn! My prayer is to eventually master the organ as well as Derrick has, He is Really Anointed and Inspiring! I'll have to invite him to San Antonio, Texas where true organ music is really appreciated! The Maestro/DC/Bishop

  • beast !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • butch cant play like that

  • true...butch is descent but there is no one on earth that is even close to this guy! I think ezra bufford can play some of the classic things that he can but not like derek. Derek can run bass on the organ with both feet!

  • O ye of little Faith. Man Butch is Dangerous! I guess you'll just have to see for your self. Me telling u won't prove anything!

  • Does anyone know which hymn he's playing starting @ 1:17? I know it's a hymn. It sounds undoubtedly familiar.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOW

  • The Man is AWESOME.

  • He has a lot of the late great Alfred Bolden in him big time and does it well!!! Someone sent me that old album on a cassette. So now I might put it on a CD and transfer it to my hard drive to make a audio clip on here. The young organists needs to hear a little history of Mr. Alfred Bolden.

  • Alfred Bolden is one of derrick Favorites

  • Alfred Bolden is a favorite of a lot of gospel organist. Not enough people know about the "late great, Alfred Bolden".

  • Yes, Alfred is a must hear! I have converted both of his albums to CD and they sound great!!!!!!

  • the ending sound like sumthin twinkie wud do,real athem like... this bro is badddd...

  • This video has so much emotion in it. DJ is def a gift to the body, Thank you for posting and If he reads this today Happy Birthday.

  • WHERE CAN I GET A COPY OF THIS DVD.

  • I know they were selling them at his church, Faith Temple COGIC in Memphis. Contact his sister, Barbara (who is sick on the organ also) at their teaching studio 901 345 7732.

  • I heard after this he plays shouting music: YOU GOT TO POST THAT!!!

  • The shouting music was nice, but he held back a lot. He did throw some ridiclous classical stuff in the middle of it though. As sick as the stuff is on this video, Derrick does his most amazing stuff after church sevices when he talks to musicians and shows what he does. Even then it's hard to learn because you're so amazed at what he doing. He also knows EVERY HYMN ever written.

  • speechless

  • !!!!!WOW

  • complete and amazing!

  • While I was traveling with the late Bishop G. E. Patterson (playing drums), we went to TBN. When the sound techs were ready to sound check the grand piano, DJ was hadn't had a chance to make it to the right side of the keyboard were the bench was. So what did he do...(instead of walking around to sit down and play) he played the thing standing up on the WRONG SIDE of the piano!!!!!!!

  • This was the late Presiding Bishop of COGIC G.E. Pattersons travel musician

  • Perfect Pitch! I sat under Derrick for about a year and a half. I learned so much at Jackson Studio of Music on Elvis Presley Blvd in Memphis TN. His humility makes him the beast he is! Skill and anointing is an awesome duo!! Yes he could sit down and just listen and chart it verbatim. that is the truth.

  • Ohhh, there's also that time he was traveling with some orchestra. And while in route, someone on the bus realized that they had left the sheet music in the previous city. Derrick took a CD of a previous concert and a pencil & paper and scored the show in his hotel room before the concert began. "Perfect Pitch" is not even accurate...the dude can hear a fly fart!!! (No offense)

  • For all of you in other states that may not know this, DJ sat in w/Chic Korea once & made Chic stop playing. Who else could turn chic out @ his own show?!?!?!?

  • uhh once again ezra is good but Jackson is better, Mr. Jackson is far more advanced in thoery and technique. the two cannot be put in the same category, Mr JAckson would not like for me to talk about him in this manner, but honestly fact is fact. as Paul said if I must boast let it be in the Lord, for he gets all the glory.

  • man where are you getting this stuff from?!

  • Bro. Jackson: Your playing is anointed by God and thank you for serving God with good music.

    Rev. Michael Capps, D.D., Th.D, Ph.D

    Bishop:

  • can anyont chord out the chords derrick uses in

    4:40 to 5:12

  • This guy and ezra bufford are neck and neck for the nations best black organist.

  • This guy amazes me. He definately is a skilled anointed organist. He knows how to keep your attention. Just when you think you know where he is going, he throws it in your face. It is like backing you up in a corner and you wondering, how we gonna get out....lol

  • They threw away the mold. DJ has all styles in the pocket. How about that classic finish?
