@jullianflores But why would I want it to fire? FF VIII gunblades are never meant to fire projectiles and I don't need the trigger to function in any way since this is a cosplay prop. :)

@killbomber1 What are you talking about? Gunblades in FFVIII didn't fire bullets. They were vibroblades. They fired what were essentially blanks and used the explosive force to vibrate the blade as it sliced so that it would slice better.

@ralphy329 I know a real one might break one's arm, but that is exactly why this is 1) a fictional weapon and 2) a costume prop. :) Japanese design, can't be helped, they love unique and strange weapons. havent searched about that shock-wave thing on gunblades, my idea was it has barrels and shoot bullets,, i thought of it because in the game when squall is on limit break you have to time the "Trigger",, but maybe square released that info about gunblades shock-wave just to make fans not to make gunblades with real guns.. coz gun is dangerous,, or i dont know,,

In FFVIII you see there's an explosion when you pull the trigger, but that is just for the effects. The creators of FFVIII have stated that these gunblades work like vibroblades or vorpal blades; pulling the trigger fires a round, which in turn sends a shockwave through the blade, dealing more damage. :)

@samverwimp Nowhere. These type of gunblades (from Final Fantasy VIII) do NOT fire bullets out of anywhere. IF these were real, the bullet's energy would cause a shockwave in the blade, inflicting more damage (widening the wound etc.).

@letmefreenow No, I did not make this one myself, a VERY good friend of mine, an expert carpenter, made it for me. Though I HAVE made one other gunblade, almost similar to this one, it was not even nearly as beautiful as the one I am holding in this video. :)

@Dramirth They shoot, especially the ones in FFVIII... Press R1 at the right time and it fires. When you use the finishers you shoot even more. You don't deserve to hold one of those if you don't know shit.
@Calley07 Sigh...That is not called 'shooting'. That is called triggering. Shooting means that you pull the trigger (R1) and something comes out of the weapon, like a bullet from a gun. Triggering a round in the gunblade causes an explosion-like shockwave through the blade, causing more damage. Read this from the fucking Official Wiki if you don't believe me, it has been said so by the designer, Tetsuya Nomura himself. So I DO KNOW shit. Gunblades don't shoot, there are no bullets coming out.
@Dramirth You're right. But Triggering is a synonym for Shooting. You even said so yourself "Shooting means that you pull the trigger" (a. k. a triggering) The fact that it shoots a shockwave through the blade was something new I didn't know about. I always thought it shot common explosive rounds, since it's got a cylinder, that would only make sense. What you define as shoot is clearly something else, so it was a mistake then.
BTW, melee can never be anything other than OBJECT + SWING.
@Calley07 Heh, I guess we're both nitpicking here. :) You basically just swing the gunblade and pull the trigger, so it could be considered as a melee weapon, since firing a round does not actually fire a projectile out of the weapon, unless one would be using some other gunblades than the ones in FFVIII. @Calley07 In short: guns, which shoot bullets, are long range weapons. Gunblades, which do not shoot bullets but still fire powerful rounds to create the high damage, are melee weapons, like swords.
@gaarah8sno1 The wood is simple plywood. The base of the gunblade was made so that the revolver cylinder was made out of two different halves that were attached to each side of the sword, same goes for the black parts in the hilt.
Quite impressive. It's kinda short, but that lights its weight and makes it more handy for a cosplay. I know a guy that made it with plastic and wood, natural size. He still regrets it, I think xD

@kokulink The symbol is the carving of a winged lion, it is clearly shown on the blade of Squall's gunblade in Final Fantasy VIII and Dissidia's cutscenes. As for the Griever necklace, Squall is the first and ONLY character to wear it. The necklace was designed FOR him. :)
@kokulink Umm, I don't quite understand what you mean by a special Griever. Griever was made for Squall. It was designed for Squall. Griever is an element of Final Fantasy VIII, and Squall is the main protagonist of FFVIII. So yes, in a way, Squall's Griever is special in the sense that NOBODY ELSE in the fictional world has one. :)

@samverwimp Nowhere. These type of gunblades (from Final Fantasy VIII) do NOT fire bullets out of anywhere. IF these were real, the bullet's energy would cause a shockwave in the blade, inflicting more damage (widening the wound etc.).

@letmefreenow No, I did not make this one myself, a VERY good friend of mine, an expert carpenter, made it for me. Though I HAVE made one other gunblade, almost similar to this one, it was not even nearly as beautiful as the one I am holding in this video. :)

@Dramirth They shoot, especially the ones in FFVIII... Press R1 at the right time and it fires. When you use the finishers you shoot even more. You don't deserve to hold one of those if you don't know shit.

@Calley07 Sigh...That is not called 'shooting'. That is called triggering. Shooting means that you pull the trigger (R1) and something comes out of the weapon, like a bullet from a gun. Triggering a round in the gunblade causes an explosion-like shockwave through the blade, causing more damage. Read this from the fucking Official Wiki if you don't believe me, it has been said so by the designer, Tetsuya Nomura himself. So I DO KNOW shit. Gunblades don't shoot, there are no bullets coming out.

@Dramirth You're right. But Triggering is a synonym for Shooting. You even said so yourself "Shooting means that you pull the trigger" (a. k. a triggering) The fact that it shoots a shockwave through the blade was something new I didn't know about. I always thought it shot common explosive rounds, since it's got a cylinder, that would only make sense. What you define as shoot is clearly something else, so it was a mistake then.
BTW, melee can never be anything other than OBJECT + SWING.

@Calley07 Heh, I guess we're both nitpicking here. :) You basically just swing the gunblade and pull the trigger, so it could be considered as a melee weapon, since firing a round does not actually fire a projectile out of the weapon, unless one would be using some other gunblades than the ones in FFVIII. But anyway, I meant no harm with my comments, just wanted to state that I know what I am talking about, nothing else. And apparently, you know too. :D Gunblades FTW!

@gaarah8sno1 The wood is simple plywood. The base of the gunblade was made so that the revolver cylinder was made out of two different halves that were attached to each side of the sword, same goes for the black parts in the hilt.

Quite impressive. It's kinda short, but that lights its weight and makes it more handy for a cosplay. I know a guy that made it with plastic and wood, natural size. He still regrets it, I think xD

@kokulink The symbol is the carving of a winged lion, it is clearly shown on the blade of Squall's gunblade in Final Fantasy VIII and Dissidia's cutscenes. As for the Griever necklace, Squall is the first and ONLY character to wear it. The necklace was designed FOR him. :)

@kokulink Umm, I don't quite understand what you mean by a special Griever. Griever was made for Squall. It was designed for Squall. Griever is an element of Final Fantasy VIII, and Squall is the main protagonist of FFVIII. So yes, in a way, Squall's Griever is special in the sense that NOBODY ELSE in the fictional world has one. :)
