  • Should I put your link on Manifest4u web site? Love the Idea, How can manifest4u help?

  • Super cool idea!

  • This is an excellent idea, and I'll do what I can to get the word out.

In fact, I just put a link on my bands webpage.

I'd hope everyone else will promote this week as well.

    Take care all.

  • Billy, Thanks for the bump. I just got a new customer in my store that your referred. Keep up the good work and I will do the same.

    John B.

  • Good day Billy, I appreciate you. Please continue to encourage and remind us of our greatness and the service that is needed, still. Many blessings to you for all that you do and hope to acheive. Always remember. . .what you magnify expands. Enjoy your every moment!

  • HEY BILLY!!!

    C.Ladydog here!

    GEE, people are critics...

Just wanted to say THANKS for the gift box.

To everyone, My friends all started talking about WHAT they have done to help others, NOW it is our challenge to each other to out do the other. We are having a great time with this.

As far as the video goes, The point of it was to inform you of WHAT the bump experiment was about! IT DID THAT..IF you are a pro, BUMP the experiment and you make a GREAT video.

  • HEY BILLY-BOB

    GET A NEW MICROPHONE

  • I am with you 100%. Let's geter done.

  • why you gotta insult Americans? don't take this positive message and turn it into another useless youtube post argument

  • I guess someone saw the movie "Pay it Forward".

  • Copied the idea or not, if people could really get that kind of thing going it'd be great.

  • Look, to be honest, I thought the video was kinda crappy too. It was cheesy and all that. But hey, It's the thought that counts, right? I mean, we wouldnt have a need for that crap if it wasnt for all the jack asses in the world. Hope I haven't made you think im some super do-gooder. I just want to have a positive impact.

  • You should move to Canada.. we're already like that:)

  • My comment was written to oojzero --(you can tell bks. it is indented under his.) I support the idea of kindness strongly--I try to interrupt the rudeness of people--like oojzero, who apparently needs to try and ruin a positive idea like yours with racist ranting. I cannot be silent when I see racism-so I responded. thebumpexperiment is a delightful idea!!

  • see, ive already bumped others by convincing them theres something worthwhile at 1:42 (which there is), making them watch the video over and over, therefore they are more enlightened than most.

thanks, im just doing my part

and i wanna thank acerekak7 for his queer insightful comments on humanity, uve just bumped our knowledge up a notch, now bump along my friend, bump along.

and if thats not logical, ill use my second preference which was to kindly ask u to bump off.

    good video tho

  • try watching again. Just do Anything to make a difference in the life of someone else>

  • cos that was totally worth my 2 minutes

seriously tho did u see 1:42, man what he did there is irrelevant to what his rant is, thats just a distraction, watch carefully

  • Thx for the comment. I do hope we don't need a big point to be passionate and nice on a daily basis, but unfortunately it seems this way at times. you know my friends just put this on you tube and i had no idea people would look at it! Boy does put you right before the public! not always good. I'm just a guy who truly is thankful for all the Good things along the way and try to help make a difference in as many lives as possible. Thx for your support! Have a great weekend!

  • GREAT VIDEO

  • nice

  • good!

  • this must not be somethign tpo watch while drinknig

  • Yea, u are right when u say "self interest"..To some it feeds the ego to think u are helping someone, however, it depends on how you do it. Do you help without expecting a return or even so much as a thank you? If you can give without expectation of anything in return-that is true giving. But then again that tends to drain the spirit and u have to know when to give to yourself.

  • this is kinda old news. Of course doing nice things makes the world a better place, but most people fail to do them. They know it's right, but they don't. (i try and do little nice things when i can, makes me feel good)

  • Cool idea. Just be aware that helping people is situational or we might OD on happiness.

  • mmmmmm......

  • I like this idea! Well, on one hand it sounds a bit strange that people need to have a special day or week for people to be kind, but on the other hand I actually do think we need it. And there can never be enough kindness anyway.

Try to get a video with better quality - I'm sure there are people out there willing to help you with better equipment if you need it. Also, it's good if you write down the text (and link) in the info for the video, so that it's easier to follow.

    Cheers!

  • i was only joking dude. but check out my memorial video for my friend lloyd and tell me how I make weird videos again.

  • Peanuthead000000000, your memorial of Lloyd is very nice. I am sorry for your loss. You put your heart into it. Billy put his heart into his. They both deserve a little respect.

  • It is hard to joke in text. People (like me) will think you are serious. Even if you say "I was just joking", then people will just think you are trying to cover your ass for insensitive comments.

  • Yea spead da love

  • Silverca- I've ALWAYS done things like that without having to be told, and I AM a Republican. It's our nature!

  • unbelievable

  • i thought he was gunna do a real experiment

    =]

    good message though

  • i would appreciate it if u did not JUDGE other people, did u even listen 2 the video

  • huh?

  • Huh?

  • Awesome. Good Job.

  • pay it forward or w.e right? were the kid tries to help 3 ppl and those ppl try to help 3 more ppl or w.e right?

  • Pay It Forward...same general idea and a good one. Sadly, we don;t treat each other as well as we should so I appreciate his idea and vision.

  • HI BILLY!!

    Great job!

I know Billy. I just talked to him this morning. This really happened and Billy is a great guy and he just puts his neck out there to help other folks and he has done so much good- he has inspired me and so many others.

If you are one of the fortunate folks who "get this" and are inspired by it, please pass this along to everyone you know. Please comment and let's support this wonderful man whose only fault is his undying desire to make a positive difference.

  • Why do people need to have someone tell them to hold open a door, or to be a decent person in traffic? Why is it a special event to do so?

  • It's sad but true. It's a real hobby around my city to be sure that no one gets in front of you in traffic- even emergency vehicles- unbelievable. It should not be a special event when someone is nice, but unfortunately, being nice seems to have become the exception, not the rule. Let's change that.

  • sounds good

  • I just wish that spherical shaped object would fall on his head.

  • the fend for yourself attitude is exactly why we as people hold ourselves back. to make a change in the world you need to be the change you would like to see. as a race, as of right now we are on a path for disaster. technology is being used for the wrong reasons and individuals are forced to pay and work for things that needed to live in todays society. rather than applying themselves towards a big picture. what next? need to be better. we need more value on happiness less on things.

  • I'm with you man, but it seems there are always going to be good people and bad people. But if we can make the world a little bit better why not! Keep it up!

  • I'd rather fend for myself to be honest.

  • its a nice idea, i hope it works.

  • very cool.

  • nice

  • I always let people in and I always hold the door. I always help people up when they fall, and I don't try to bring people down. I honestly have to say that this stuff isn't going to work. There are childish people that never got it, and never will. There are mature people who do at least five random acts of kindness every day, because of who they are. Either your a dick, or you're not.

P.S. You need to either use a secondary microphone, or get closer to the subject.

  • very good idea :)

  • I would love to help! I've always thought that if everybody did something to help people in the sphere of their influence there would be almost no need left.

  • Bump is the name of guy who invented it, and this is a very thoughtful video and his story is an amazing act of kindness.

What is with all the negative comments?

  • Hi this is Billy! Shoot me an email! Would love to send you a magnet and get you more involved!

  • wuts bumming?

  • youtube is becoming propaganda for some opinions of good values. Look at the featured videos Compliments, Karma, giving free fans to Tube goers, Free hugs blah blah.. wtf. Call me a cynic but is it really the job of youtube to make us believe in our fellow man again.

  • people should be more selfless and help eachother out from time to time the world would be a much better place

  • i dont want to sound rude but why not be the person that does something and maybe people will follow your example. at least then you can say you tryed.

  • i came because i thought it said burp

  • Sounds kind of like "pay it forward" to me.

  • so it's.. like pay it forward? okay, i'll do it.

  • This is great! ^_^

  • most of the people who do these random acts of kindness are the type A personalities. They control the situation when they let u out of a side street in traffic. They control the situation when they extend kindnesses. That's one way we get fulfillment and make the world a better, safer place. Go for it.

  • having a type A personality does not correlate with generosity in certain situations. Type A's tend toward more social situations, while type B's tend toward more quiet reflective situations.

Both types have an equal capacity to help others or to hurt others.

  • I take my anger out on the town. You know show it a good time. What kind of question is that? And who says goodie 2 shoes any more? What are you stuck in in 1985?

  • watch?v=LAV-JiU5pkA

  • i think thats a great idea! and even if people do get made and take things out on people if every one would be understanding and just say "maby that guy just had a bad day" or some thing like that then the world would be a better place.

  • Actually, passive people would become doormats for type A personalities.

  • It's true, this experiment could just help the doormats become even thinner and easier to walk all over.

  • ya, in all reality you guys are probably right. but what i ment is if every one tryed thier best to get along with eatch other then when some one did slip up and get mad it would not be that big of a deal if evry one would just be understanding. at the same time even now i think people should try to be more understanding but not push overs. do you get what im trying to say?

  • By the way, that's kind of funny; to be a 'bumper..lol. I'm a bumper. haha...it just sounds weird.

  • Remember the movie Pay It Forward? This idea is nothing new. Of course it would be very good if the idea of Bumping would spread around everywhere, but people, we just couldn't hold it in our hands too long.

Try to remember the days when somebody at work or school really pissed you off and then you take it out on some random people, try to imagine that everybody needs to act like this sometime. There is no way people would change their lives in an action like this. It would be very good but...

  • I never take my anger out on other people. I think it's immature to be disrespectful like that. You have to really consider others, and know that they're actual people with problems of their own. They don't need that just because you had a bad day. (not you in particular)

  • So what do you take out your anger out on? Animals? Pumpkins? It's pumpkins, isn't it.

  • november? okay remind me then

  • ok..yea some of u guys r really ignorant..this guy is tryin to do somethin nice in this world for a change..and if you don't like it..shut up!

  • it makes me smile to see somebody take cruel, heartless words with such kindness. many people would say horrible things back. good for you!

  • that's sad. it's not that hard to do something nice for somebody else.

  • There's no effort involved - just open a door for someone, leave an extra dollar for a tip, say "hi" to someone you don't know, etc.

  • You're right because you just so happen to be another nobody. But somebody will and I'll help people so I can actually be somebody.

  • Realize that part of our nature is being a social creature, that is why culture can have such a profound impact on behaviour. So if the culture were geared more towards small acts of kindness being the "norm" rather then ignoring every one, then things would be better all around.

  • While your argument at face value sounds good, it suffers from one fatal flaw: name one major culture where small acts of kindness are the "norm." Again, this is nothing new. Our nature as social creatures is counterbalanced by our "need" to be selfish. We don't ignore one another, by the way; we just have a strong tendendy to put our own needs and the needs of those closest to us first. It ensured our survival as individuals and therefore as a species. That is why it is ubiquitous.

  • not meaning to be a bitch, but its typical that someone would try formulate a reason based on historic/scientific facts etc as to why this experiment wouldnt work bla bla bla..

    just do it.

    you feel good too.

  • It's not "typical;" it's called LOGIC. Logic by the way, is the mother of ALL the sciences. By the way, how else would someone formulate a reason for doing ANYTHING in this life other than relying on historical/scientific facts? I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just curious. Pax.

  • By the way, logic isn't always scientific. Ex, if you picked a new car that was green because you like green cars. Scientific? No. But it is logical. Don't get science and simple logic confused, they are not the same. Logic is not always based on reason or facts.

  • Excuse me, I hate to break the news to you, but the one major flaw in your argument (according to Webster's Dictionary, anyway) is that the definition of Logic is the as follows: "The SCIENCE of correct reasoning." On that basis, logic IS ALWAYS "scientific" and when is it NOT based on reason since it is the STUDY of correct reasoning? I don't want to start an argument; I just thought I'd point that out to you. Pax.

  • i get your point. but this thing has nothing to do with facts.. this is about impulse and compassion..

  • I understand that as well. However, don't you understand that things such as impulse and compassion (which is a form of altruism) are now believed by most evolutionary biologists to have a biological component since they have been observed in other species? My whole point from the beginning was that "experiments" like this have been going on since time immemorial and usually just peter out eventually. Genuinely altruistic people will simply follow their natures like everyone else. Pax.

  • By the way, I studied the history of the Assyrians when I was in college. I like your nic. lol

  • lol, thanks I guess. As for the question you postulated, you really don't have to look any farther then our own culture.

It's "nice" to open doors for people, or give up your seat for the elderly.

Why would these connotations exist if we are merely driven by the logic to look out for ourselves / those closest to us.

It's really not difficult to imagine a more caring / kind culture. As it becomes in ones self interest to "keep up appearances" as norms evolve.

  • While this acts upon the mechanism of self-interest, the end effect is less suffering.

And as sss92646 said, it feels good, and while you can logically pin point motivation, it just doesn't explain the accompanying emotions properly. (I realize I'm advocating more negative reinforcement with adjusting cultural norms [i.e. feelings of shame], but that just raises the significant act of kindness bar higher as it should, the current level is just sad).

  • should we really have to tell ppl to be unselfish i mean seriously just act like a decent human being and well all be fine

  • I really like the idea behind this, having seen "Pay It Forward" when I was younger, it's always been an idea that I try to live by and promote. My only issue is that this shouldn't be a timed thing, millions of *Bumpers* doing things in one wee won't shift the Earth's Axis and make the world magically delicious, you should be hosting examples to help people think about ways to think outside their own needs for even a second.

Great idea but you need to Bump Up your implementation.

  • The idea behind the experiment is to create an awareness to do this on a daily basis! The purpose of the experiment is to help reignite hopefully a passion for us all to "step outside our box" and help our fellowman. thx for your comment!

  • Glarble glarble.

  • You look like an idiot when you use poor grammar.

"u suck" makes you look like a mean fool, whereas "you suck" just makes you look a mean person.

  • Why wait for the specific week? Why only make that week special? Why not live every day of your life "bumping" people?

Good idea, but I don't like the time constraint. There are people out there every minute of every single day that need help or would love a compliment to make their day better. Forget the dates and live every day of your life with this attitude.

  • Thx for the comment. No time constraint. The purpose is to create an awareness before and after. Hopefully we all try to make the world a better place on a daily basis!

  • wow how could u not get the meaning of this vid?

  • hmmmm.... I really don't think it would work even if everyone paid attention to the vid. Inevitably the experiment wold peter out...

  • I'd try using proper grammar.

  • You obviously missed the point.

  • You missed the point of the video.

  • People have a hard time thinking so of course they say it's boring. They had to listen to it to understand, not look at pictures.

  • This is a very good idea! I think it can really help. Because America is not really widely known for kindness.

  • This is how EVERYONE should strive to be. Everyone who finds this boring should RE-THINK how they live their life! Pay it forward, bump, human kindness, whatever you call it makes an IMPACT!

So stop with the negativity and apply it towards something meaningful!!!

  • Someone just watched Pay It Forward

  • I agree with BlueCrayolaMarker....

  • couldn't agree more

  • nice message

  • this bump experiment sounds to me like - manners =p . oh well.

  • many of those small things i already practice :)

  • the bump experiment, does it BLEND??

  • ok, dont see a reason to not do nice things, so i will :)

  • can i, and dare i, ask why?

  • nice

  • now this,

    is a man.

    im only 14

    but thanks

    this means alot to me=]]

  • WHAT THE ???

who more rude can you get

this man is trying to help people

    selfish heartless WHATEVER U ARE

  • The meme about making the world a better place for all of us is spreading rapidly. See:

'Pay it Forward.' Glenn Reynolds "Army of Davids" Paul Hawken's "Blessed Unrest." Robert Wright's "Non-Zero." Robert Kegan's "The Evolving Self."

    'Biological Altruism.'

    'Memetic Engineering.'

  • Thank you for this video.

  • Way cool.

  • vote!

  • Nice idea! :D

  • Hi Billy! What a wonderful idea! I'm excited to be a bumper and help you out in any way I can. Can't wait til 11/2/09!

  • Hey Billy,

Just met you in real life at the post office - great idea and I wish you all the best with the bumping.
