I haven't tried the scrapings. Check out my video...I just shredded up some birch bark and it worked great.

Great idea, I did not think to scrape the bark.Will it still work if you and the bark are soaked?

Yep, the oils in the bark are very flammable and it will still work even if you've had the bark submerged in water
