Psalm 116: 7-11 return to rest o my soul for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. For thou hast DELIVERED my soul from death,my eyes from tears and my feet from falling. I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living. I belived therefore have. Spoken:i was greatly afflicted: I said in my haste, All men are liars.........................­.....................so does this scripture mean what it says? delivered my soul from death? timsh6 couldnt discuss it without getting angry haha

Nicely done; I learned about the whole Platonic/Western idea of the "soul," back in Bible College, in a class called "Hebrew History and Literature." We had a great teacher named Walter Zorn, who taught us volumes on the Old Testament and the O.T. Hebrew culture.

All said, I guess people confuse spirit for soul in Western culture.

@troyez the sad reality is that there too many prmitive minds still out there which believe that man is immortal,the uneducated don,t rely on scripture for truth but their own understanding.They would rather honor what their tradition teaches about the soul,talk about depravity!!!
