@32UnitedIreland I'm sorry but 700,000 is a complete lie, 100,000 civilians lost there lives in the entire conflict up until now and thats mainly down to suicide bombers and explosives set by islamic extremist groups as well as the fact that this figure includes the USA's civlian kills which because they were a bigger part of the war as well as other factors committed many more civilian killings than the British army.

@32UnitedIreland Exactly you've pretty much said it with out realising, we're not attacking individual countries that may have a terrorist come from, we don't tolerate terrorism in our country and the 7/7 bombers have been dealt with. Saudi arabia doesn't tolerate terrorism so we they are not problems for national security. Where as Afghanistan is somewhere they can freely operate under taliban reign. Not only that but the taliban were the only group that could defend afghan from the soviets.

But once the Taliban gained power they themselves started executing civilians for minor law breaks. This on it own isn't enough for us to go to war with them but when they let a terrorist group operate in the country that becomes a credible threat to national security. But show me that we are getting oil from Afghanistan because I haven't seen one thing saying we are.

I know they deserve more for what they do but the fact i when you've got 200,000 soldiers paying them more will take a toll on what can be spent on other things out of the defense budget that could save there lives, like new body armor, UAV systems, bomb disposal robots etc.

And also £18,000 a year is more than i expect to make for at least a few years after i finish my education at which point they are likely if they have stuck with it to become a corporal. Also the banks don't just decide when they want things to happen because each action causes a positive and negative reaction for instance printing money may mean more money instantly but means inflation

@32UnitedIreland Exactly you can have extremists on both sides but the difference is, most Christians don't take the bible word for word because of education and you'd probably end up in jail but in a county that doesn't have law and order or descent education you can see that they would be much more easily influenced into following the qu'ran word for word. @32UnitedIreland greedy bankers giving out to many high risk loans and the house market collapsing. It was a blunder on there part not a conspiracy to make people join the army. The evidence for this is present today there is still a risk of slipping back into recession and we're full strength now, and with a deadline for afghan operations to end in 2015 so thers no need. Also you can only control the nations spending to a point and if there not confindent they wont spend and thats the problem.
