HEY DEMITHECAMARAMAN AM BUYING ME A CANON 5D M2 N WAS WONDERING WHICH WOULD BE THE BEST LENS ALL ARROUND MUSIC VIDEOS AND GIVE IT THE BEST FILM LOOK, CAUSE I NOTICE SUM LENSES TAKE AWAY FROM THE CRISPY LOOK.
@VIZIONAIR777 - Thats a hard one. BUT, if you can only get one lens it would be the 50mmf1.4 or f1.2. The 50mm just has an incredible look to it. Try before you buy. You can rent lenses and then send them back. Or borrow one from a friend. BUT you WILL WANT to have a few different lenses to get different looks. Good luck.
I noticed when I had it on 1080i and fullscreen, when you would pan with the camera, there would be somewhat of a ghosting issue. Is that something with the camera or does that have to do with YouTube? Thanks
@DarkoBWM - Those are artifacts that come from the compression on YouTube. I usually get my 3-5 minute clips down to around 300-6--MB and then upload them. YouTube takes it down further. Thanks for watching.
@DemiTheCameraMan yes very helpful. what about an after effects program? a lot of people use adobe premiere i was thinking magic bullet. i want something thats gonna help set the right mood. would like sort of a darker grainy look. and could you also recommend a good microphone? i know very little about shooting so i figure id ask someone whos experienced before i buy 1000's of dollars worth of equipment
@muzicisuniversal - I work in Final Cut Pro with magic Bullet plugins. I would start with a Rode Video Mic (for general use). It's worked great for me for dialogue, ambient sounds and just general audio.. If you find you need a different mic set up there's a lot to choose from.
@DemiTheCameraMan im really considering the 7d with a 70-200 2.8 for a movie im making. i see a lot of test videos with close ups with that lens. but im looking for the best all around lens from 200-1000 dollars.i know the 50 mm 1.8 is a lot cheaper. can you recommend the best all around lens for filming a movie? probably wont do alot of long range shots at all. i would like to spend under 3500 for either a 5d mark 2 or a 7d,a lens, steadycam merlin and a microphone.what would you recommend?
@muzicisuniversal - I would not use the 70-200f2.8 for "general" movie making. The 50mm f1.2 has been used as a "general" lens. It's great (even the f1.4). BUT, I might suggest the 24-105mm f4. F4 isn't f2.8 BUT it give you a lot of range for "general" use. I'd like to get one myself. I use a 70-200mm f2.8, a 16-35mm f2.8, a 16 mm fisheye and a 50mm f1.4. I needed to balance my lenses between photography and cinema work. Hope that helps.
i have the 50mm f1.4 and 17-40 f4 L, with a canon 500d im going for a 60d as a replacement. why did u chose the 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 over the 70-200mm f2.8 L or 24-70, or 24-105 F4 may i ask
@Tavor21Actual - I have the 70-200mm f2.8 and love it BUT I did choose the 16-35mm f2.8 over the 24-105 f4 "because of the wider angle and the wider aperture". The 16mm let's me shoot the bride and bridesmaids getting ready in the master bathroom in front of the mirror and get a lot of visual real estate in close quarters. And spinning it to the 35mm gives me another great look.
I am new to the DSLR family ..I have a Canon t3i and I wanted to shoot a restaurant type show and what is the best lens to buy? I also do still photography outside on the beach as well...Im looking for something that possibly double as both...if possible...
@SevinTV - It'd different for every clip. You have to take into consideration things like motion, pans etc. You have to experiment for the best results. Look up DVKitchen.
@DirectedBySteve - You can get the Ziess Planer T NEW here for around $700.00 BUT the Canon is only about $450.00 right now. The Planer T is not the professional Ziess lens. One Pro Zeiss lens can cost as much as $50,000.00 or more...
I understand ,, but i think u didnt understand what i m trying to say,, like my fottage look like my filter workibg as mirror ,, when i was shooting in filter it showing me holding the camera .. May be i dint put the mattebox properly or light is going through ,,
I used circular polorize filter qith micro redrock mattebox and it was micro filter ,, BUT i got lil bit reflection of mine in footage ,, like somthig is reflectibg on filter and it showing in footage ,,
@99sukhi88 - It depends on what you were filming. The circular polarizer is used to remove "reflection or glare" like on water or shining surfaces... Depending on what you are shooting you might need an ND filter like I talk about in my clip. An ND filter is like sunglasses for your camera/lens and you can use the Genus ND Fader Filter to set it however you need. That way you can adjust the amount of light coming into your lens through the f stop a"and" the ND filter.
@99sukhi88 - It all depends. Much of it has to do with Depth Of Field (what's in focus and what's out of focus). Also you can use an ND filter to be able to shoot with your lens wide open. If you are shooting in 24p you can set your shutter speed to 1/50. It depends on the camera and the lens. My fav lens for cinema look is the 50mm.
@madmat805 - Thanks for watching. I'm sending you a message on youtube. I'll give you a great deal. My daughters have been in dance with Jocelyn for years and I'm down with the "God" Squad
I am looking for a videogrpaher to shoot God Squad Dance Crew. I like what you did with this vid. I also like the graffiti background, where is that? What are your prices for like 2-3 hours? We have a couple dances I would like to shoot.
@Dom-I appreciate you watching. I love my fisheye and I have used it for lot's of "fun" shots BUT I haven't found "that great fisheye clip" YET! You got me thinking... Cheers.
Cool vid Demi. Keep up the good work! Maybe dvestore could hook you up with a Genus ND fader to test out so you can see how you can take advantage of the full wide aperture of F1.4 outdoors in bright sunlight while maintaining 100 ISO and more importantly, a reverse shutter of 1/50th to match 24p. Thumbs up buddy!

What lens would u recoMend to shoot green screen?
SkyFilmography 3 months ago
@SkyFilmography - GS can be done with any lens. The proper lighting, distance and keying software are going to be the real concerns.

Thanx alot ,,
1/50 means on canon 5d mark 2 ,,, it was showing 50 (shutter speed) on screen ,, is tht ok???
What about camparrision between 35mm and 50mm ,, which one is better ??
Please
99sukhi88 11 months ago
@99sukhi88 - 35mm or 50mm is a "creative choice". BUT, I like the 50mm much better. Yes, 50 shutter speed is 1/50th of a second.
