  • its great to see another suitcase home besides mine and a few others and your standard sounds wonderful i wihs my brown wax collection was a good as yours i have 20 brown wax but they are barely audible except angels serenade wich is clear thanks for posting

  • I have an original piano score for this song. The first name for it was "At a Darky Camp Meeting." It's the same tune.

  • That is a great 4 minute! You said that this is a model D? The model Ds didn't have the fancy "Edison Standard Phonograph" on the front unless the original "Edison" symbol was ruined and someone replaced it. Otherwise, it looks to be a model B.

  • i remember this song thanks for posting.

  • i am thinking of getting a littel electric moter and buying a reproducer and makeing a phonograph because i like a lot of music on the cylinders and the machines them selves are prety expenceive heavy and it want fit in my back pack at school. i have reconstructed a diamond disc player and i am going to make a portable cylinder player so i can listen to cylinders at school.

  • I would recommend to those who liked this to buy their own, because pictures are pretty but not as pretty as the real thing. If anyone is curious about this, I would suggest that they go see an actual phonograph operating anyplace where there is one. (I have an Edison phonograph from 1907. It needs some repairs done, though.)

  • Are you shure this is not a model b standard with the added 2-4 minute gearing and the added horizontal carriage because the model D does not have the decal on the front of the case that says edsion standard phonograph instead it simply says Edison. If this machine has an end gate and the ID tag is under the gate it is most likely a model B

  • I was thinking the same thing. It was only the very early model B's that got the banner transfer, and they changed to the Edison decal soon after the B's were released. The D's usually have a wide molding around the base, and came out late in 1908.

Either way, it's a great little machine & record!

  • The one in use is a model D Edison standard phonograph from 1905. the other phonograph behind it from 1898.

    THANKS...

  • I love IT! What kind of record player do you have and when was it built? I'm jealous!Thanx for sharing!
