Still keep wondering what if the Enterprise entered warp like the way in Star Trek 2 and this is what they entered. In many ways this warp effect feels like it respects the previous Star Trek warp effects that started on TNG, yet making it as though the ship is manipulating space/time rather than some fancy flash that pushes the ship beyond the speed of light. As well looking and feeling like it's traveling beyond the speed of light.
@Potrimpo If you hadn't noticed the effect used in Star Trek (11) was based off of the TNG effect, In a few episodes it shows the enterprise from 10 forward entering warp, same effect just drawn out as the effect and not just streaks of light passing by.
@oaklycon Actually I had kind of noticed, but it's just here that it feels like space and time is being warped to bypass the limitations of the speed of light, where as in TNG hyperlight speeds look as "conventional" as the difference between subsonic and hypersonic speeds, simply adding more blur to make it fast.
@Potrimpo Just seems like a lot of people don't notice. Loved the effect from TNG entering warp, and glad they enhanced it for the actually Warp speed effect and not just a blip.
whish the lights would suddenly go off in the bathroom and my toiled flushed and make a warp engine sound liike this after I take a dump in it. this video is hot.
AWESOME. I'd blur the prise a bit. Also, the very begining of the tunnel was spectacular, I would have repeated this spuraticaly to break up the rest of the clip.
If you guys don't end up with a job on the next Trek movie, then I've lost all faith in the universe.
And if you do, tell them you've got the CGI under control, and that THEY need to get seriously get the script into a non-suck status before the new actors show up for the high beams.
Nicely done. What I liked was the clarity of the warp effect. The newer movie style just screams speed from the raw acceleration look. If you were to combine the two, you could have something truly epic here.
There actually streched spheres, i tweaked them a "bit" in compositing nodes and them composited the scene, im quite happy with the effect and how it turned out to be in the end...
But again the render times were just ridiculous, almost 15 min per frame, alltough it took ILM allmost 48hours per frame to render the effects in the new film...
Y'know... this seems like the basis for a pretty decent screensaver.
Just wish I had any idea whatsoever how to create one.

Makes me think of Family Guy star wars:
Lightspeed is always so weird...

@LEGOALEX97 Weird enough to be the opening of Doctor Who starring Tom Baker.

as I say to all those who detract from the new warp effect, you must at least grant that it at least FEELS like your going at 200some-x lightspeed.

This effect is really incredible! But if I were you I would put less warped stars. Anyway it is really good, well done!

i agree. less stars, and add a bit of blur to the enterprise. but other than that it looks great!
