  • listened to this guy years ago, had the"cassette"of maximum security, recently ordered it on CD...truly amazing player.

  • The first time I heard Tony MacAlpine was when I bought his "Maximum Security" album. I was stunned. That was 1987. He is one of the most underappreciated musicians (not to mention unknown) I know of. He is usually known by other aspiring guitarrists, but is largely unknown is the music industry. Absolute crying shame. He deserves more recognition...there just seems to be no ceiling for his talent. He is a true guitar virtuoso.

  • Tony would have been a good replacement for randy rhoads imo

  • Who is this guy and why does he he have the name of a ski resort? he's fucking awesome

  • That's one thing that setz Tony apart from the rest is his incredible feel... doesn't play fast to play fast... but incorporates it into his compositions... as expressions...

  • I absolutely love this piece! I found it, and Tony, by accident, back around 2000/2 or so, downloading video binaries off of usenet. This tune has the perfect feel for a depressing, moody police/street drama.

  • Not being racist, but wish more black people would play and listen to this guy instead of all the rap hip hop bullshit!! This is R E A L music!!

  • @Bdrums1971 At least theres Tom Morello

  • i wanna buy this tune in good quality.... where??

  • @exyex someone please answer this guy!

  • this remember me buckethead.

tony is a very multi instrumental player and composer, I'd kill for a original cd from him o.o

  • This master piece have a name?

  • I AM AGUITAR PLAYER AND A BLACKMAN. TONY KICKED IN THE DOOR FOR PLAYERS LIKE ME YEARS AGO THANKS TONY. FROM THOMAS THE TRULY 1

  • @truly11967

You have tons of legendary black guitarists... how come none of them kicked the door for you....

Jimi Hendrix, Almost all the Blues and Jazz Guitarists, Vernon Reid.... I think there are more legendary Black Guitarists than White Guitarists.... This is not any racial comment... just my observation... For me, Black or White or Pink, its still music... Good Guitar playing is Good Guitar playing...

  • @ronnieanand DUDE DONT GET ME STARTED ON THAT BUT YEAH THEY AARE GREAT PLAYERS .AND ISTAND BY WHAT I SAID .SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED MORE INFO ON BLACK PLAYERS TO ME. LUV TO TALK ABOUT IT.

  • @truly11967

Didn't get ya... You need info on Black Guitarists or you want to give me info on Black Guitarists.

  • @ronnieanand

    greg howe

but more blacks i dont thhink so think..

ok for me all 30 40 50 60 Bluesare not all legenbds..i think there's a number that's useless to coun.

    but more....i dont think so

  • OK Tony you are getting one more chance with this video...cuz after seeing you with Steve Vai i was actually stunned that Prince can play better (*ouch* that was low hit..LOL)...but i was thinking at the time...what the hell did Steve DO to you!...i had ALL your early albums..and my friends forced me to listen to your stuff!...and i was like "TONY..YES..TONY!"....and then reading some crap that i have to play drums to understand guitar...and then the keyboard...i was like WTF!!?

  • @666Goddammit666 Not knocking you,but I don't get your meaning.

  • add w to see ww.youtube.com/watch?v=r5MVESEvJ3w

  • This guy is truly amazing, not only he has totally mastered 2 instruments throughout the years (guitar and piano), but also he has show he has a unique style, and at the same time be able to fit into the styles of other guitar players such as Steve Vai

  • Tony is still my number 2 overall fav guitar player (behind George Bellas) and yes just slightly ahead of Jeff Loomis..athough I wish Tony would get away from Jazz fusion

  • >2:04 wow uff aah :)

  • He has a style all his own.

  • la primera vez que hoy a tony solo conocia a metallica como lo mejor del mundo el ride the ligting esto me costo creer que se podia tocar,su mejor disco m.a.r.s

  • I love this song, taken fromthe Starlicks instructional vid., a hidden gem.

  • very young??then this must be in the late 70s

  • No, I think it was the 80's or 90's; he hadn't yet burst onto the secen in the 70's.

  • Naaa this is Earlie 90´s

  • Exquisite!!

  • awesome

  • does this song have a name or recorded studio version??

  • very young? lol./......I think it was 1992

  • tony is better than steve vai

  • yeah tony is the man!

  • hahaha he really is iono why plp are giving u thumbs down i hate vai

  • That haircut is unforgivable.

  • YEAH! hockey haircut or hill billy..

  • the video channel think its amazing - leave it at that. This is actually almost slo-mo for Tony. He's relying mostly on short melodic phrases rather than speedy arpeggios and scales. Quite different for him. Mike Terrana on drums and Ricky Ricardo(no kidding) on bass. I saw this lineup in 1997 in San Diego.

  • Superb!! great song.
