Alright everyone who has fucked up shit to say about pitbulls shut up stop being ignorant and open your eyes.Any dog that has teeth can bite.A breed is just the breed its still a dog.Thats like assuming every black person kills people and all asians are super smart.Ive been around pitbulls and a lab pitbull mix with no problem. It depend if the owner is a ignorant dick or not just like you all are actin like ignorant dicks.
I swear, pit bull owners are worse than Scientologists. Whenever someone documents an attack these apologists swamp the board with hundreds of screeds extolling the virtues of the breed.
Sorry, I realize that it is natural for devotees of the pit to stick up for their favorite pet but the truth is, these animals have been purposely bred as killers for most of the century. They are no longer the loveable breed personified by "Petey" of The Little Rascals.
“It’s the owner, not the breed.” You can train, monitor, and love an animal, but you can't remove its instincts or genes. “My pitbull would never hurt anyone.” I’ve ridden my motorcycle all my life without an injury, but that doesn’t mean I would argue that a motorcycle is as safe as a car. “The media portrays pitbulls unfairly.” Go to the facts then. Dozens of animal research centers (that have nothing to gain from putting pitbulls in a bad light) agree: the breed is dangerous.
@47lionking I ask this question respectfully ( I too love dogs) .perhaps you can tell me the motives of a dog which would runs hundreds of yards across several properties through the woods from it's own yard into the horses own stall / paddock to attack it. ( I ask this sincerely without trying to incite a debate or hard feelings). If you do not know, it's alright.. I am just happy that the horse is completely better now. I believe the dog's owner is much more careful in it's handling now.
@twomblypublishing Honestly I don't believe the dogs' intentions were to harm your horses from the beginning (and I also am very glad that she is okay) But what most likely happened was the dog broke loose, was wondering around the neighborhood just as any dog would, it came upon your property and Nessa became startled and probably ran. This most likely provoked the dog to chase. Unfortunatly due to the strength and tenacity of the breed your horse was injured decently. Just keep in mind please
@giasoa he actually made a straight line through the woods from his kennel to my horses small back turnout ( it was snowing so she was in a small enclosed area surrounding her back stall). His owner was running right behind him and the yells of his owner were heard from the house 300' up the hill which prompted the man there to come and try to help stop the problem. The horse actually went directly into her stall to get away from the dog... but the dog went in after her.
@giasoa Pitbulls are monsters. So many reports of, "The dog was so friendly to everyone, I can't believe he did that." They were breed to fight and it's going to take decades to resolve the problem, if it ever does. In the meantime, innocent people have to protect their pets and themselves. So stay on your bandwagon about a pitbull's "intentions" if you want. It's silly to try an lull the general public into a sense of security because you say it's okay.
@twomblypublishing that most pitbulls are very sweet and loyal, most likely the one who injured your horse is too, just had a mischevious moment. In the end all is well, so its okay :)
@giasoa that particular individual actually has tendencies toward chasing larger animals ( he went after a neighbor's donkey but the neighbor was present and was able to intervene immediately before any harm was done) I know that there are dogs of all breeds which have passive or aggressive tendencies. This individual seems prone to this action unfortunately.
This is a pretty bad video. why are you blaming the pitbull. blame the f'en owner. and by the way, where in the world were you? You probably are a bad owner of horses and should buy a couple of ferrets or something...
stop blaming a breed of dogs, dogs or dogs, a f'en german shepard could have dont that or a Labrador.
@havoc151976 I'm not placing blame anywhere. I'm merely documenting the horse's healing process. The dog's owner and the person who lives at the stable were present at the time of the attack but were unable to stop the dog from attacking even though the two men tried with all their strength. I hope this answers your questions, and I'm sorry the vid offended you, it was meant to inspire hope in the face of difficult circumstances. This horse has no scars today, physically or mentally.
@giasoa thank you... what the good of getting upset. it solves nothing, also I have faith that "it's all in God's hands" so I try to adjust myself to outcomes that are not within my control. I just do as much supportive activity as I can and then "give it over to God"... at least I TRY to ;)
@havoc151976 Ummm, people blame the pitbull because the pitbull tried to kill the horse! People also blame the owner of the pitbull because, ummm, he the owner of the "weapon". Oh and german shepherds don't kill horses. In fact, german shepherds are herding dogs, not killing dogs. German shepherds were breed to for health and solid temperament. Pitbulls were and still are breed for aggression and killing power.
This is an example why owners need to train ANY dog properly. But I hope she'll do good and I hope that irrasponcible owner will get punished. I hate when dogs do bad things because they wont trained properly, it's not fair on the dog or other's that are in danger. Beautiful horse though! ;D
thank you : ) you can see how Nessa's doing in the video response vid ( and many thereafter : )there was no punishment. The town requested that the dog be euthanized , but the owner rejected the idea and in court the judge decided that the town did not afford the dog's owner due process to represent himself before they had declared that the dog be euthanized. So ultimately the dog is still the same though I think his owner will be more careful of the latch on the pen.
@twomblypublishing Hi, I've just saw your two video and I was so surprised that owner of that dog wasn't punished. Wow. He must pay many thousands of dollars for that cruel. He is responsible for all act that make his dog. I wonder if he or she can be so patient like you, when his dog would be attacked by some of the predators.
Furizon works wonders, the only thing bad that I have noticed about it is that it can sometimes remove the hair around the wound but that could also be from the swelling too. How many bits did she receive from the bit bull?
we lost count. the sutures took a total of 7 hours and we had to do it over the course of 2 days because it was very cold when it happened and we couldn't keep her tranqed so long that her temp would drop to dangerous low levels. you need to see her recovery vid... her " first day back at work" will bring a tear to your eye.....really! you can't even see the wounds
I am both a horse lover and a pit bull lover. My heart goes out to that animal and I am glad she's doing well now. God bless you for taking such good care of her. However, I can't help but feel bad for the dog as well. Pit's are people friendly (I've worked with several and my experiences have only been good), but they will attack a large animal on-sight. It's what they were bred to do. Now the pit bull will probably be put down because his owner didn't keep him properly contained. =(
the circumstances of the attack were not exactly as you may be picturing. the horse was in her own turnout , on her property deep in the woods, across two property lines away from where the pit bull lived. the dog had a view from his outdoor kennel of horses one property CLOSER to his yard than mine... but they were unavailable that morning, so he ran further through the woods to find Nessa, his ultimate target that day. so he didn't see her THEN attack... he sought something to attack.
also... thank you for your kind words of support for darling Nessa :) she worked again today and "met" a Boxer, a Shar Pei , and a Boston Terrier :) ( all on leashes at a family campground :) she barely blinked... I am astonished and relieved this summer to see that her faith hasn't been broken and that she still trusts people to maintain their dogs as civilized members of society.... a testament to her powers of reasoning and the grace of God :)
I have a pretty clear picture in my head of what happened...the dog smelled a prey animal, got loose, and attacked it (the dog didn't care who's property it was on.) It wouldn't be any different than if a rat terrier smelled a rat and went to the trouble of digging it out and killing it. The only difference is that unfortunately in this case, it ended up being someones beloved pet. The owner needs to serve jail time for allowing this to happen. He has proven to be an incompetent owner.
I guess that might be an accurate summation of that day's events. as far as the outcome or consequences for the owner... I think in the interest of tactfulness I'll refrain from editorializing...I'll just repeat how grateful I am that the horse is alright... Jesse ( who only landed one kick due to the day's events) is still not back on the job... but he IS making progress and that's a beautiful thing :)
also the selectmen and the dog's owner ( who are the two parties involved in the fate of the dog ... not I ) are scheduled to meet back in court some time in August. The owner has shared his concern for protection of his property when he is away... I wonder if a labbie might have done the trick without getting into all this??? I wonder if he'd consider one in the future?
HAHAHAHA YOUR A FUCKING TRIp i was raised with 15 horses and two pitbulls. one of whom weighed 85 pounds and could have easily killed a horse. but you know that he never gave thought to it? he was a well trained dog. thats all it takes is a strong hand. "diss the deed, not the breed" Pit Bulls are bred to be agressive.... thats what pit's were bred for. NEVER bash a dog that wasn't bred, handled, or cared for properly. and my cattle dog puppy whos 8 months old, would probably "attack" your pony.
I'm sorry and I didn't mean to "dis the breed" but obviously you are an experienced dog trainer/ handler and I think some dogs ( some sporting breeds as well as guard dog breeds) are better suited for people who have had experience... a companion type might be more suitable for someone with less exposure to dogs in general. I didn't mean to slander any breed (of anything) I apologize for being misunderstood.
I saw your comment at cornellbigred15. I can tel lyou he is not an expeirenced handler/trainer becuase a pit bull should only be 65 lbs, anything over 70 is obese or a mix breed. And "pit bulls" are not a breed, but the original terrier/bulldog crosses that became the breeds labeled as pit bulls were originaly bred to herd livestock. (Ukc website American pit bull terrier). Also in dog fighting they aren't bred to be aggressive, they are just bred not to submit.
Let me reward that, he is not educated in "pit bulls", I take back the statement "he is not a expeirenced trainer/handler". I don't know him, but someone who knew the pit bull breeds, Apbt, amstaffs and staffies would know they don't get 85lbs, and are not bred for aggression. Simply to stand up to a controntation and not be submissive. Fighting dogs are trained from a young age to fight, they grab them by the scruff and throw them at each other.
wat the hell your a dumb ass i bet my dog could attack your freaken dog and anyways i bet the horse will kick your dog my dog is stronger that yours an its german shepherd and german shepherds bite harder than pit bulls.
