@deltaMIKEone - The problem is likely the inverter board. It could also be the inverter cable, but in this model the inverter board is usually the culprit.
I have tried several, and there is no way to unclip the camera cable s shown. That breaks the little legs off and no the frame is garbage. (no camera connection)
Also, every one I have tried is glues in very well, including the bottom to the LCD on the face (front). When one tries to take the bottom loose, the frame cracks every time at the bottom screw on the left side. More trash.
Hi there. I have what appears to be a water-mark or smudge on my screen. I believe a bit of water must have got into the screen, is there a way i can clean this as it is under the screen without tempering with the LCD too much? Thanks
@jcEightySeven - Usually this won't be something you can clean out. You'll likely have to replace the LCD. We sell the part and offer the repair service. You can call us at 1-866-726-3342.
can the basel be taken off without the entire screen taken off the computer? I have a crack in the corner of my basel and i want to replace it with a new one :(
A colleague recently used your video to replace the LCD of my MACBOOK PRO. After this "repair" a third of my screen is working, a third works when i press on it and there is a solid black not working at all section just left of center about 2" in width. Any ideas??
@betterbeer100 - If you have issues of thirds, it is a defective LCD panel 97% of the time. So, it looks like your colleague replaced it with another bad one.
@th0q - You likely have a logic board problem (Specifically the GPU)... You'd be best off getting a professional diagnosis. You can call us to set up a free diagnosis at 1-866-726-3342, option 2.
Do you know why type of adhesive keeps the isight cable connected to the frame where the actual camera is? This came off during my screen replacement and I need to know what to use to keep it connected... Thanks!
Quick question, have an "older" aluminum pro like this one, 2007, that needs screen replaced. What kind of LCD should I look for? One for a MA895LL/A?
I am replacing the LCD on my Macbook. I got the old one out and I was switching the new one in and I noticed that it had a different connector where the optical ribben goes in to the back of the screen. I bought this LCD off of Amazon and the company sent me an adapter for it but it broke. Do you know where I can find this or what its called???? THANKS
@PowerbookMedic I was looking to replace just the aluminum top piece (with the apple logo) and was wondering if I have to go through all of this just for that piece. And if so, where can I get a brand new one?
it is possible if the connector is compatible with video controller board + power supply unit you can purchase at any diy projector store. check out lumenlab forums. you can even use it as a tv. of course you have to improvise some sort of outer shell to hold things together but it is entirely possible of course depending on the connector pinning.
I'm not getting a display on my computer but my keyboard is lighting up and sound is functional. Is this an LCD problem and can I fix it myself because I can't afford the steep diamostic and repair cost right now
When replacing the back case with a new one... are you able to get it flush with the bezel again? I want to replace mine because of a small dent.
I ask this because when I put a new HD in my MBP the top case right about the CD drive area will not get completely flush again, however it's very close...
You could have a variety of problems from a pinched inverter cable to a cable that is not properly plugged in to a defective LCD or other component. An issue like that would require professional diagnosis.
Hi i followed the video install while i was replacing my LCD and after installing the new LCD and putting everything back together i find that the backlight on the new screen isn't working. Is there anything i could have missed or done wrong?
Very unlikely, but anything is possible if you are not careful and do not discharge the static from your body (by touching a piece of metal for example) before working on a unit.
IS there a possibility i ca damage the mother board if just remove the LCd and replace it after taking the assembly out and not touching the motherboard.
do you no of a place i could buy a full case for my macbook pro 15"? someone droped my case and its beat up pretty badly but i dont want to pay 200 dollars for a new one..
I tried to look at the other videos, but unfortunately I couldn't find it, I have only found the display removal not the lcd one that this video describes.
Thanks for the video.
My screen stays in the very lowest setting only, almost black. Once in a while it does pop back to life. Could this be a loose wire?

@Defensedrew252 - You shouldn't need an adapter to connect the LCD to the LVDS cable.

as a note if it is an LED backlit LCD panel it might make things more complicated but if it's regular CCFL you should be OK...

The manual for the 17" is already posted on YouTube. Look at our other videos for that one. The procedure is similar but not the same.
PowerbookMedic 3 years ago
a big THANK YOU for the video, really helpful and to the point as usual.
Two questions:
1) does this apply to the 17 inch model too?
2) If not are you going to post the same procedure using the 17 inch model?
Thank you and keep up the good work!
