Things may seem difficult for gay people, but are a heck of a lot easier than in my day, 3 or 4 decades ago! Felt I had to lie to my best friends and family(and myself), like I was carrying an immense millstone. Good luck to you, enjoy your life!
@FurkanKhan100 Took me till I was 40 to convince myself!! Reason is, it is "not normal", and none of us want to feel "not normal", so we convince ourselves we are straight, even though we look at guys. I constructed an "alter ego" in my head, where I wa straight, but watching films or TV, I'd be checking out the male lead! Had an "experience" one drunken night at 19, spent next 20 years trying to "reform" myself, I think. Death of my parents was the turning point, I think.
nicely done...unlike alot of youtubers..u are very sincere and true to purpose. if I was teetering, your vid would have inspired me...for all the reasons you state. thanks
Gay people use "bi" because they think its not as bad as being completly gay. You felt weird coming out because of how you have been conditioned to think homosexuality is wrong, and this doesnt happen at home, but in school, when you see femboy's getting beat up,or picked on. Since you dont appear to be fem,it was easier for me to be invisible in school. Its natural for people to void controversy. Its harder to face it and deal with it. Btw,is your BF masculine?
@radioxxflyer I know a female that had 5 kids and all of them are gay...the females and the males. She had a hard time from other parents becasue they looked at her as if there was soemthing wrong with her eggs,or her husbands sperm. Which goes to how people sertotype. WHy does it have to be the parents fault?
When you come out as bi when youre really gay, you really only half way come out. I think alot of guys do that at first because we feel that somehow its more acceptable but honestly, youre still not being true to yourself then you think damn, now I gotta come out all over again! Think about it though, most girls wont date a bi guy anyway so once they think youre bi, they will push you in the gay direction by not being sexual to you anyway. Funny how nature takes its course even when youre gay.
@723bodie You don't have to if you don't want to. The important part of coming out is that you feel safe and you think you can handle people's reactions. If you feel like you are not ready, then don't come out. It really doesn't matter.
@TheTrieutran Thanks for your comment. I don't feel safe to be honest. I'm so scared I can't even explain it. People here are so judging. Some of the guys already call me "Aidz" because I don't have a girlfriend. I can't imagine how much worse it's going to get.
@723bodie If you feel you cannot trust anyone, do NOT come out. Wait, please. No one deserves to be bullied because of something out of their control; specially by their own parents.
@antonio01lima Thanks for answering. I just feel alone and scared. I cry at night because I feel like I'm alone. I don't know why I'm like this and I feel different, kind of like a freak. I just don't know what to do.
Fascinating. I've known my whole life. I don't consider myself the stereotype either. No one would've guessed until I actually told them. It's hard for me to understand how people get confused, but this helped me to relate a little better.
Just out of curiosity, what's the most difficult thing about it for you now? You're not being attacked, you got over the 'wife and kids' thing, and people seem okay with it. Is it just still coming to terms with this huge change? I can't even really imagine having to adjust to that after thinking that I'm attracted to guys my entire life. Just near the end, when you said you weren't happy everyday about it, it made me wonder.
@NatalieRae14 Well at the time I filmed this video, I was still coming to terms with it mostly. I was still reflecting on how it would affect my life when I was older. Now I feel I've grown extremely confident in who I am and have taken a much more embracing approach to my life.
Have you heard of Brett The Intern here on YouTube? If not, you should check him out. He's gay, but he's not the "stereotypical gay" at all. Hes a very good example of a gay man who is comfertable with himself, and didn't conform to what society thinks of gays. He's a boxer, has a boyfriend, and I would never think he is gay by looking/hearing him. Good for you for coming out, alot don't have the strength :)
Lovely story and identify with what you say as same thing happened to me at school where i kept looking at this new boy pupil. But like you at the time i didn't know why. I was 8 years old xx
I think,in general, people are more accepting of others with different lifestlyles & sexual preferences now than before. I have been curious about gay people because of my solcial upbringing defines "a couple" as a union of a man & a woman. Many years ago, one of my professors was a lesbian and she helped me to become more open minded. If one of my kids is a gay, I would have no problem to love & to respect him/her just the same as I would with my other kids.
I loved your coming out story I think it is really inspiring to other people who are going through the same thing that you are. I am glad I found someone who was sort of like me, I didn't know my who life but During my first year of college I started checking out guys and It felt weird. But we all eventually get through it all. We are all great people in this world and each have a purpose. Need someone to talk to I will be here for anyone, keep your friend close she seems like an angel
You can still have marriage and kids and a life even though your gay. My Boyfriend and I are going to get an apartment when he gets back from France. We are in love and we are happy. A word of advice: don't get attached to your first boyfriend. Step back and take a look at things. Does he really love you? Do you really love him? My current boyfriend and I made the same mistake. We got attached to our ex's. Take things slow. Be sure you really love him before making any long term decisions.
Ok I may be gay but I'm a guy. I dress as a guy. I talk as a guy. I play sports as a guy. The only difference between me and a straight guy is what I do in my bedroom. Yet, girls keep asking me if clothes look good on them. HOW THE FUCK SHOULD I KNOW!?!? I LIKE PENIS NOT VAGINA!!!!
honestly i'm bi. i've known it since i was in fifth grade. my parents are very very religious. so, i'm going to tell my parents at the age of 18, so if they kick me out i can support myself.
@wasupsukas Sooooo. your parents are very religious but are they open minded about worldly issues or to they live their lives by a book written by men thinking their word governs all rules?
@wasupsukas Don't tell your parents, even when you become 18. Tell them only when you are no longer living with them, so they cannot oppress you with their religous bla bla bla. Get your fianacial independance, first. Then, you can say, to hell with the opressors. My advice to you.
My story is very similar. I also didn't come out, even to myself until late-ish. I went through a bi phase for a while and now I'm pretty comfortable. Still in the process of coming out to some people but working on that.
I'm 13 and I am in the closet but I have already meat people along the way that have helped me realize that it is time to come out I don't know when yet but I'm hoping that one day I'll have a great husband be able to tell my kids that its alright to be who you are.
@RevelationWriter I came out to my parents after watching this film.. I am know writing to you in a cafe because my dad beat the living shit out of me and said "No takers in this house" and then hit me again and again until I finally passed out.. I woke up in the front yard with my clothes in the bag and watched him beat my mother in anger..... ARE YOU FUCKING HAPPY?
Brave and as you said that you felt gay all your life, I did too. But it doesn't matter how you feel, it's more the way you are. And you seem to be OK. Who would not like a guy like you? You are kind, intelligent, good looking and the best son in law one could wish (in my country gays can merry). Don't care about what some people might say, they're ignorant, do as you please. Cheers.
@RevelationWriter dude it does get a little easier over time I was the same age as you when I came out officially and it's been 10 years now @ age 27 it's been quite a bit easier. Believe me it is a process I admit but it does get better with time and patience!!! peace!!!
@Adamtype1 Being gay isn't a disgrace. You are who you are - who you were born to be. It isn't a "choice" you one day wake up and decide to make. Leave you prejudices back in the dark ages where they belong.
Couple of observations. 1. If you are still seeing the same therapist and he thinks that you are gay because of a daddy complex..RUN!! Sounds like a "Christian" therapist. 2. The gay/bi thing and working that out in a few months is nothing. Some people take decades or never. Kiss the ground that you worked it out now.
@Mathew9648 Gay brothers are not all that uncommon. I've counselled a family of three boys - the oldest is gay, the youngest is transgender, and the middle boy is unsure if he's gay or trans. When I first met them they were 12, 14, and 16.
c'mon there's not thing as types of gay ppl. even the gay definition is just stupid. we're ppl and that's that. why does sexual options should matter this much? plz explain
@CoolCLUcHKid -3? What? And.. My mom like made it awkward.. She justs makes me think down on myself like not having kids yadda.. It makes me feel sick..
@CoolCLUcHKid There are several factors that help predict how likely you are to be accepted when you come out. If you're popular now, your chances are much better. If you're not popular, or worse - disliked - it will likely get worse. Also, if your school is a very liberal and accepting place, or if there are other successfully out gay kids, your chance of acceptance are much better.
You're brave, and I think our story is kinda... The same. I said I was bi, but now I think I'm gay.. I just don't know how to tell people or anything. Most people who I go to school with are dumb and homophobes, but... I still know I like guys but not girls the sexual way. You make me feel like... I might be able to feel brave enough to tell my family/friends and, now I don't know. I just wonder.. Will they treat me different if I tell them? Or will they still treat me like me? Thank you :)
Excellent Video-Sure hope this helps Anyone who needs it! Thank you for posting this, and It's a very difficult world when someone, anyone can not be who they are~Sad that its like that, however Be Free..You deserve to be who you are-Let the hassles go-If you get Bullied in any way-Then Please Report it immediately to however you can-Parents Police Teachers, and others! You are free! Love Yourself-~!!!!
good vid. was kinda sad to hear you say you thought you had to or should conform to gay stereotypes. It never even occured to me to be like that, but then again back in the 70's that would have been downright dangerous.
And... are you sure that you couldn't, in the future, be attracted again by girls? Or maybe queer girls, butch lesbians, soft-butch lesbians, or some other wonderful creature? I wouldn' t be so sure that other changes couldn't happen!
Human beings are usually bisexual. If they don't know it, it's just because of still lacking social acceptance... ;-)
No, "human beings" are not, assuming you mean all humans. Bisexuality is itself a single sexual orientation toward both genders. I sure hope you're not a bisexual person who's decided that everyone must be bisexual by nature. Because that's just as bad as a heterosexual person proclaiming that being gay is unnatural and a choice.
You are a fantastic human being and I stand with you. My brother and I are both gay as well... two for the price of one! :-) I hope that you find happiness and love in every day you live on this earth. You are beautiful and don't EVER let anyone diminish any part of you!
@MickyBeast52 I'm 14, and I'm also bisexual. I cannot tell my parents for obvious reasons. We just gotta stick it out till the end. You'll meet great people in your life who will love you for you.
I haven't came out yet. I'm 18 and I realized I was bisexual at 13. I started seeing girls a lot too. I never really realized it much as that age though, becuase I grew being told it was wrong. So, I thought liking girls made me a bad person. So, over the years I tried not too look at girls either. But at 15, I was like fuck it, I love both genders. My fear of coming out is my parents. They hate gay people. I don't want them to hate me.
@OrodesIII Yes it is in the genes , being gay is a safety mechanism in our genes that triggers in inferior humans to prevent overpopulation and the reproduction of these inferior subjects..
Actually those stereotypes were defined and marketed in the US some 60 years ago. It is not surprising to me that 90% of my gay friends (here in southern Europe) are just plain normal and - as usual - many 'normal' people just won't believe that we are actually gays - people that are aware of the stereotypes but do not expect gays to behave this way, which couldn't be said for USA in the 50's or 60's - when art-liking-male meant a bad omen and not a good taste in life. :)
It disturbs me how many "devout christians" think the whole message of the bible is "hate gays" but can ignore the other 1000 or so outdated laws there.
I think you were just in denial during the process of "discovering" that you were gay. That's like discovering you were white. You stated, "you would look at this guy and not understand why you were looking at him" You talk as if some other entity took over your body. I believe you knew exactly why you were looking at HIM as oppose to the less attractive guys. You just needed a little motivation to explore your deep rooted desires and that pretty boy was just what the Dr ordered. Hahahaha
@jibaritobueno That's not true at all, don't act like you know someone. Because there was a time when I felt the same way, and I had no idea I was looking at him because he was attractive.. I was just looking at him.
@Minecraft4life1000 I'm not acting like I know anyone, but I know human behavior and the psychological barriers that society and religion has implemented on the minds of most. However, my question to you is... If you can look at a man because he's abnormal or ugly (a simple determining factor as to why you would look), then why can't you determine that you're staring at a guy because he's cute as hell? You're still in denial. Get over yourself...it's ok. I refuse to debate the obvious.
@jibaritobueno "You're still in denial". No, I'm not. I'm a gay man, and I realize now that I was attracted to him. However, I didn't at the time. You spout a bunch of pseudo philosophical and psychological nonsense in an attempt to convince me that what you are saying is reputable, which it is not.
As for your question, the answer is simply: I didn't know I was gay. When you are unable to recognize such a characterisation, it's not so straight cut.
@Minecraft4life1000 You're in denial about what you felt. What's the difference? What if you stated, "I used to really stare at guys' cocks, but I didn't understand why?" If you were that out of touch with who you are, then you have more to worry about than plausible deniability buddy. Whether this philosophy is "pseudo" or nonsense, you can't take away from the fact that your actions were much more dominant than your denial or belief that you "didn't know you were gay"...hahahaha.
Enjoy, don't worried about labels & above all play safe. Later the big label shows up,- but it is always up to you.Ya don't need to submit until you are ready.
@DellerName Maybe not so much "turned" gay as realized, and accepted. If males in our society weren't so hung up on male homosexuality, "coming out" wouldn't even be necessary.
i REALLY enjoyed your coming out story - thanks. I guess the reason is mostly that I like the way you think stuff thru - so very cool. Thanks from Kane in australia. Hey now I'll watch more of your vids to find out where you got your nick from - are you a writer? Definitly a good thinker and talker that's for sure :)
I brought my religion in here? I shared my heart that this behavior and hatred towed this young man was acceptable. It's self righteous hypocritical individuals that cause more harm than good. This young man should have been loved and accepted, not ridiculed. Read what I said again before you such commits in regards to mine.
Love the sinner hate the sin. These are Gods children as well. Before you sit on your high horse passing judgment (which the bible says NOT TO JUDGE) consider the fact that sin is sin is sin. No one has walked on water but Jesus Christ Himself. I'm a devout Christian man, I believe the bible to be truth but I would never pass judgment on these souls. 1 Cor 12 talks about spiritual gifts. It's summed up by saying "the greatest of these is love."
DRUMMEROL100 - fuck you... Being gay is perfectly normal and NOT a sin... People like you mean nothing to us... We laugh at you! And how dare you write such a comment when this guy is only being true to HIMSELF!! Good on u for coming out revelationwriter... This was a very lovely and inspiring story:-)

Believe me it is a process I admit but it does get better with time and patience!!! peace!!!
Tentomon23978 2 months ago
@Adamtype1 Being gay isn't a disgrace. You are who you are - who you were born to be. It isn't a "choice" you one day wake up and decide to make. Leave you prejudices back in the dark ages where they belong.
richard1968lee 2 months ago
Couple of observations. 1. If you are still seeing the same therapist and he thinks that you are gay because of a daddy complex..RUN!! Sounds like a "Christian" therapist. 2. The gay/bi thing and working that out in a few months is nothing. Some people take decades or never. Kiss the ground that you worked it out now.
jjaus 2 months ago
What the what? You're brother's gay too? Interesting. :/ *Puzzled*
Mathew9648 2 months ago
@Mathew9648 Gay brothers are not all that uncommon. I've counselled a family of three boys - the oldest is gay, the youngest is transgender, and the middle boy is unsure if he's gay or trans. When I first met them they were 12, 14, and 16.
ProFriend 2 months ago
@ProFriend I've only ever seen that happen between twins. Hmmm, It seems you never really know everything even if you think you do.

c'mon there's not thing as types of gay ppl. even the gay definition is just stupid. we're ppl and that's that. why does sexual options should matter this much? plz explain
miidc 2 months ago
@miidc
Sexual orientation is very real. "we're ppl that's all" doesn't actually mean anything. Sexuality matters because it creates connections.

Lukeapple you should tell them cause I dont believe they'll treat you differently just because your different from them :)
CoolCLUcHKid 2 months ago

And... are you sure that you couldn't, in the future, be attracted again by girls? Or maybe queer girls, butch lesbians, soft-butch lesbians, or some other wonderful creature? I wouldn' t be so sure that other changes couldn't happen!
Human beings are usually bisexual. If they don't know it, it's just because of still lacking social acceptance... ;-)
Good luck, anyway!
edes12x 2 months ago
@edes12x
"Human beings are usually bisexual."

MickyBeast52 3 months ago
It's interesting that your brother is gay too. I wonder if it is a genetic thing.
OrodesIII 3 months ago

In just about any "group", the dumbest ones are the loudest. And the loudest ones are the ones heard.
It's a shame but it's true. A good many Christians are fine with gays. We're just really quiet. :)

However, more so than my comment.... It's ok and I'm glad you;re ok with it now as well.
jibaritobueno 3 months ago
I think you were just in denial during the process of "discovering" that you were gay. That's like discovering you were white. You stated, "you would look at this guy and not understand why you were looking at him" You talk as if some other entity took over your body. I believe you knew exactly why you were looking at HIM as oppose to the less attractive guys. You just needed a little motivation to explore your deep rooted desires and that pretty boy was just what the Dr ordered. Hahahaha
jibaritobueno 3 months ago
@jibaritobueno That's not true at all, don't act like you know someone. Because there was a time when I felt the same way, and I had no idea I was looking at him because he was attractive.. I was just looking at him.
Minecraft4life1000 3 months ago
@Minecraft4life1000 I'm not acting like I know anyone, but I know human behavior and the psychological barriers that society and religion has implemented on the minds of most. However, my question to you is... If you can look at a man because he's abnormal or ugly (a simple determining factor as to why you would look), then why can't you determine that you're staring at a guy because he's cute as hell? You're still in denial. Get over yourself...it's ok. I refuse to debate the obvious.
jibaritobueno 3 months ago
@jibaritobueno "You're still in denial". No, I'm not. I'm a gay man, and I realize now that I was attracted to him. However, I didn't at the time. You spout a bunch of pseudo philosophical and psychological nonsense in an attempt to convince me that what you are saying is reputable, which it is not.
As for your question, the answer is simply: I didn't know I was gay. When you are unable to recognize such a characterisation, it's not so straight cut.
Nothing is 'obvious', that's a cop out.
Minecraft4life1000 3 months ago
@Minecraft4life1000 You're in denial about what you felt. What's the difference? What if you stated, "I used to really stare at guys' cocks, but I didn't understand why?" If you were that out of touch with who you are, then you have more to worry about than plausible deniability buddy. Whether this philosophy is "pseudo" or nonsense, you can't take away from the fact that your actions were much more dominant than your denial or belief that you "didn't know you were gay"...hahahaha.

@jibaritobueno I'm going to walk away from this now. Arguments are hopeless after 2 or 3 comments.
