for that boat that is not very fast. needs a v6. i have a 17'6" hydrostream viking that does 100mph. my lil hustler does 75 now next year i will hit 80-85mph
hey sandhammar05 i have some questions for you if possible. there was a sand bag in the front of the boat look like it was put there from factory, should i pull that out? and what where you doing to get it up on plain, right now im using a stingray? also were you running stock gearcase or a small one?
62 mph with a 75 on that boat is weak. the bottom is badly hooked, you're dragging water all the way to the driver seat! In 1980 in APBA EP Class a Hydrostream/stock Evinrude 75 held the record at 68.5 mph. I upped it to 70.560 mph in 1981 with a stock Evinrude 75 on a 14' Allison. Typical closed course speeds for that class were 65-66 mph.

i have always owned johnsons but a merc one hundred horse on this thing with a jack plate and a good prop ? and this thing wouldnt think anything of doing one hundred easy ? love to see that awesome boat looks like alot of fun good job
yea i was looking at those but they have a blow over characteristics, happens around 75-80mph so watch out if you plan on going that fast. im running around 90hp with this new block i build. hoping to get in the 80's but mine is only 11' 6" lol races are coming up and i need to get ready.
i just bought a 12 ft voodoo with a 70 hp johnson. off my youngest brother. he says it has a expensive jacking plate, power steering, 2 props, ski bar, and a new hi volume bilge pump. he changed the prop from the one that came with it. says the old prop could not get a fat chick on a tube out of the hole with 3 adults in the boat. he says it does about 70 mph with the old prop if you dare and 60 mph with the new prop. i am sticking with the slower prop since i will use it pulling a tube.
right now it just has stock carbs with velocity stacks, boysean power reeds, and a little porting. in the process of putting on 100hp chrysler carbs on it. more porting. and i wouldn't quite say "cheap" haha
What do you have for induction? 3x2 bbls? Kevlar reeds? Finger ported? Where else can you go to build something this fun and this fast for this cheap?
mrmrt777 i have a couple props i run, i have a 12x23 round nose cleaver over the hub from DAH. then i used a 11x20 cleaver thru the hub by ron hill.
Burgeezy Yes it floats...Barely lol. cant use reverse or it will go under.
