Thanks man! Glad you still enjoy it -- I'm just grateful that people watch it once, so it certainly means a lot when some of you guys actually take the time to watch it again!
Hey! I've been away for a few months but imagine my excitement when i saw that you had uploaded a new movie! woohooooooo :D This was so brilliant. Pure entertainment ... just Excellent and amazing as always. You are such a fantastic film maker!! Do you write these stories also? You just blow me away with your stuff! :)
Why, Ms. Flow...it's certainly been a while hasn't it? But it's a great way to see that you are indeed still alive by reading your very positive comment! Thanks for taking the time, Sara.
Oh, and to answer your question, I *do* write the stories and dialogue for these videos. Certainly my least favorite part of the process (in fact I hate it), but nobody else will write them for me! ;-)
Apologies once more for missing this. In future feel free to send me a gentle reminder if I somehow miss one of your films because if I don't watch/comment it will not have been intentional.
I really must get my act together and try and make something like this. Hopefully these comments will make up for me neglecting my duties as YT friend/supporter.
Thank you, Steve. I just assumed you had nothing nice to say about it and decided not to comment. But I'm glad that it wasn't that at all, because positive or negative, I welcome and appreciate all comments -- especially from good YT friends.
Anyway, I'm glad that you really enjoyed Borrow. And should you decide to add more misery, stress, and depression in your life by making a short narrative, then I'd wish you the best of luck and look forward to watching the finished product.
ha ha thanks, I'll try and watch this again in the next week and give some constructive critique but honestly, when I watched this the 1st time the 15 minutes went by in no time at all which has to be a compliment to your filmmaking. This really was great and I look forward to whatever you come up with next but please, if I somehow miss your next film, please send me a gentle reminder ;)
4. The cat, was it me or did that cat actually wink!
5. And finally, a lot of that dialogue would not have looked out of place in a Tarantino or Kevin Smith film. They are both filmmaking heroes of mine that from nothing, made something of themselves. They also proved (like you have) that with the minimal to no budget you can make something good.
Yes, the cat blinked. Pure luck on my part to catch it on camera.
You know what they say, talk is cheap, so a dialogue-heavy piece is always the easiest way to go with no money to spend! Again, luck is the reason that Borrow came out decent.
Well firstly I have to apologise, how the hell did I miss this? I was thinking today that surely you must have posted something new and you had and somehow I had missed it so I'm glad that I checked.
Anyway, what did I think of this, in a word "brilliant!" there were so many good touches, so many that I will have to continue this in another comment...
I think I forgot to comment this awhile ago when I saw it. Let me just tell you if I did. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and I laughed A LOT. Make more films :)
Yes, you were one of the first to comment, actually. But I really appreciate you taking the time to stop by again. It really means a lot to me. And thanks for asking to make more; it's really a matter of schedule and resources, but I'm hoping to start another one soon, although the fact that the majority of my subscribers DIDN'T comment does kill quite a bit of the ol' enthusiasm & drive. Maybe the next one will do better. :-)
I think it's safe to say that most of us, when it comes to the inhumane crimes associated with DVD lending, at one time or another have either been a victim and/or perpetrator. Thanks for watching Borrow and enjoying it!
Great job as always Carlos. Your videos are few of the ones that can I watch to the end without wondering how much time is left for them to be over. awesome job! I got a lot to learn from you.
Very nice of you to say that. I understand that 15 minutes is an eternity in YouTube time, and I'm grateful for people like you that take the time to watch *and* comment. And as for your last statement, I think the truth is that *I* still have a lot to learn, period! ;-)
Thank you oliver! Very nice of you. 'Amazingly pointless' is pretty much the name of the game with my videos! ;-)
To answer your question, no I don't act in any of my videos. I prefer to concentrate behind the camera. I almost played a role in Break until five minutes before shooting, when I snapped out of it and got my friend Liz to step in.
Thanks mang...I kill a communist for fun, but for a green card, I gonna carve him up real nice.
My apologies on the Scarface digression. You should know by now never to remotely reference that film (or most films, for that matter) without having me take it five blocks past relevant.
That's a very high compliment and I'm definitely flattered by it, although I'm sure the only thing this video and an episode of Seinfeld have in common is that they're both about nothing. :-)
ROFLLL!!! It's like me and books. Follow the trail of breadcrumbs.... to completely other subjects. I love it. Did you borrow my "Band of Brothers?" I think you did. You did not borrow my undies, though!!!
I appreciate that, but to be honest, I'd rather not have THAT much attention. Based on what I've seen, having your video featured can have more bad come out of it than good. I'm happy enough with my friends and subscribers watching.
Dude, well done and good job once again. Loved the dialouge, characters, and the overall movie. Funny how DVD stories like this come up and are true. Good stuff man...seriously.
Well, Carlos, I like it. Kind of hard to categorize... sort of like "Seinfeld." But it works.
I do think it could have used more emphasis on sounds, especially in the car and apartment scenes. Random cars honking, doors slamming in the background, that sort of thing.
I know what you mean about the sound. I guess what little background I mixed in didn't come through on this YouTube version. Well, I just chalk it up as another learning experience, and hopefully I'll soon be able to upgrade from the low-end program my computer came with to something with more to work with than just two sound channels! Thank you very much for watching and for your constructive comments. Oh, and thanks for liking it too!
I can't bear to say no, especially when they give me those eyes...and they say "I'll bring it right back" and I WANT to believe them! I really do... *sobs* back to therapy...
Which is why I always improv and they never turn out very good... That, and I don't have any extra actors, a cameraman, a microphone, friends or llamas.
A friend who lends out his DVDs is an idiot indeed -- Albert Schweitzer or Gandhi or one of those guys said that, I think. -SW (No Comment Productions)

Just some of the great moments
1. "that's like when my mother says moist" - great line
