I bought this LP when it came out because the Germs were on it. At one point for some reason I guess it was on laying on my car hood, but it somehow fell off without me knowing and I accidently ran over it!! After that it had awesome tire tread marks and pebbles embedded into the cover. I may still have it
Dede Troit was my best friend back in the 90s! I would hang with her, go to shows, do merch for her, get stranded with her and one time was comatose on her couch from smoking too much weed as Total Chaos practiced their set in her living room! Fuckin great times!
@TwigDjango there were a lot of punk bands that were great back in the days 1977-1981 especially in Hollywood and L.A. that didn't get the attention they deserver. I still have my old collection of punk 48's and LP's including this one.
@husky500cr As far as I'm concerned, California has produced the best punk bands of all time. I don't suppose you'd consider posting some of your old records to YouTube, wouldya?
@TwigDjango How would I go about this? Last Month they had a punk re-union some were in the West side of LA. Agent Orange, Middle Class, Adolescents, and couple of other band came together to play for old times.
@husky500cr Oh wow, that sounds incredible! As for the records, it should be pretty simple. Connect your record player to your computer via 3/4 in. jack into either the microphone or input jacks. Download Audible (it's free) and hit record the next time you play your old 7 inches. You're gonna have to play around with your preamp a bit, but it should work okay. Then just use MovieMaker or some other free video editing program and include the audio with a photo. Post to YouTube. Profit.
Funny how compilations like this only sold a few when they were released. Now ones like this,Yes LA and the Decline sountrack are the holy grail for punk vinyl collecters.
@exeuroweenie I'll tell you another interesting thing. While I've always dug this first wave old-school punk rock myself, many others whom I know used to really dump on it back then,.. calling it a "degenerative" strain of music and blah blah,.. but NOW that theres rap and hip hop, THIS stuff is like Mozart to even THEIR ears !! Go figuer ?
@Skulldini Exactly,I loved it since I first heard it-back when it was considered weird and depraved. It scared people like gangsta rap does now. That is,until a decade or so later when it became trendy thanks to media exposiure. It's kinda like now everyone and their dental hygeinist has blue spiked hair, tattoos and piercings.Back then, the same kinda of people would have beaten you up for it.
@exeuroweenie 1992 was when THEY say it'd broke mainstream with stuff like Nirvana and Green Day,.. but, even still, it wasn't quite the SAME thing. Thing was, to me this stuff always did have a really musical, almost melodic quality,.. just shorter, faster and sparser, thats all.
@Skulldini Exactly,it was like MTV were passing a poodle off as a wolf.I liked Nirvana alright and Green Day were fun.To me it wasn't punk in the sense that The Germs,Dead Kennedys or even the Buzzcocks were, though. They didn't seem to have that peculiar sense of freedom that made early punk such a revelation.
man...got this as a flexi 45 in a fanzine. wore the shit out of it. music is just no fun these days.
