  • excellent clip indeed.... but i think the date of this clip could be at 1940s (before Japanese occupation in 1941).... coz the walled city was demolished by the Japs in 1942, to build the airfield.....

  • @hotbloodchris . I took this film of Kam Tin a short time after I arrived in HK in september 1949. But I believe it is still there although 'renovated'.

  • U are definitely right.... i haven't seen the title of the clip before leaving comments.... mistook it as Kowoon Wallcity...

  • The last part of the video the village metal gate had some big history behind it. 1898 Treaty of Peking also called the second Opium war, China leased or gave up New Territory to UK for 99 years. The villagers in NT fought the British army and of course was defeated. Army took the metal gate back to UK museum for sovereign. Later,British returned the gate to the villagers from UK because the villagers made a strong demand for their heritage back. Bob from Toronto

  • yep ,吉慶圍

  • It is a traditional way of burial for village ppl. After buried in coffin underground for several yrs, the body will be taken out and put into a large clay pot, and left in a private place for several yrs for further permanent burial elsewhere.
