  • I don't know where my life is going, so I am watching clips of cartoons from my wonderful childhood. Oh dear.

  • If you lived in pigeon street , you'd be covered in shit!

  • @robthemetalhead30 "Show me a home where the buffalo roam, and I'll show you a house full of cowshit," - Jasper Carrott. I suppose technically it would be buffalo dung, but cowshit sings better!

  • how mother of crap.. I'm glad a want born when this was around..

  • And those of us that were are glad you weren't either.

    Tosser.

  • cartoon for cunts

  • Aw it kinda makes me sad I don't know why...

  • @MenCap7 i think it's realising you'll never have that time again. innocence, simple pleasures in watching stuff like this, days that seem to last forever as opposed to waking up one morning and finding out that your childhood ended nearly 20 years ago

  • I remember this from the early 80's, and watching it during lunch times when I was off school with a cold or something. Nostalgic times!

  • @CYMRUTUBE2 yeah - Mum'd walk me home from nursery, we'd sit and have dinner. watch either this on Childrens BBC or Rainbow on Childrens ITV and then i'd just play for the rest of the afternoon... : )

    peace

  • @CYMRUTUBE2 you never appreciate just how special things are when you're that young...

  • Did Paul Mcartney write this LOL

  • going through some of the clips of old childrens tv here on youtube from the early to mid eighties when i was very little - i'll be 29 in march - just makes me feel like crying...

  • LONG DISTANCE CLARA!!!

  • ITS JUST A BBC PLOT TO MAKE YOU A SOCIALIST!!!!!!!

  • Broadcast first in the year I was born. I just about remember this show. I distinctly remember an episode with a flood and they're all stranded on the top floor of a block of flats. Used to watch this and Cockleshell Bay. Good times.

  • @DrChalkwithering Cockleshell Bay used to be one of my favourites, that and Portland Bill; we were spoilt. I remember the episode up on the roofs too, good stuff.

  • @DrChalkwithering Haha, I remember that episode.

  • Classic! ..LOL.. I like that "DEEEOW DEEEOW" sound in the credits.. :-)

  • I Loved this but noone else ever remembers it :d TY for this :D

  • why is it that this show made complete sense when i was 6, but now that i'm 30 it seems random and pointless? i loved this show!!!

  • @thehoff1982 Presumably something has died inside, or been lost worst luck. Reimmersion may cure this.

  • @Orblingz in a sensory deprivation tank after taking 1000 mushrooms

  • I could have sung every word years later! Immense!

  • Used to love this when I was younger (they sometimes used to let us kids watch it at my old primary school).

Of course, if it was to be a little more authentic, the pigeons would no doubt be crapping all over the people's heads in the intro, but enough controversy.

  • Written by... OH MY! VINTAGE kid's TV! lol

  • Wow, pigeon street! I forgot this existed!

  • Words and Pictures

  • -._.- so beautiful, next is brian cant with bric-a-brac

  • I loved this cartoon, it was one of my faves, it used to come on just after sesame street I think, just after I'd had my ravioli. After Pidgeon street I would have my nap and then it would be time to pick up my sister from school- and of course we walked!

  • ha ha tuuuuune....Hello, goodbye.......Hello, goodbye...

  • oh wow awesome stuff,i used to try and get off school to see this

  • this was quite crap really. even for its time.

  • Mash the lyrics up towards the end and you get where pidgeons beat their meat in pidgeon street!

  • bo bo bo bo

  • How come I remember the song off by heart but I don't remember actually watching a single episode?

  • @bjorky79 Same here!

    #If you live

    In pigeon street

pigeon shit gets on your feet #

And the cast obviously agree. A 0:37 they're clearly thinking "OMG, it's going to crap on me!"

  • pigeon street was on at a weird time, you had to pretend you were ill and skive the day off skool to watch it,trouble was you had to watch pebble mill earlier on which was shite.. but still it beat making plastercene models at skoo....long live 80s cartoons

  • lol yeah, wasn`t it on at something 12 or 1 lunchtime -ish?

  • @molly6971 oh god yeah it came on at about 1:30 or 2 pm whatever but still it was a crap time cos unless you were ill or skiving, school would not be out so you could watch it......and I sadly remember Pebble Mill oh my god I feel old lol

  • @molly6971 the plascticine was always a muddy brown or dirty purple colour in our school cos the naughty kids mixed it all toether!!!

    random i know but haha

  • @molly6971 That is so so spot on! I agree with every word!

  • Yep, we've taken over everythin! I Love watchin ur looser faces

  • Pigeon Street is a nice place to live but just don't leave your car outside when you've just washed it, you know?

  • OMG! I remember this! My parent s are trying to find Pigeon Street video tapes at the moment but they're very rare.

  • Always reminds me of being off school and the taste of lockets and lucozade.

  • lockets and lucozade? What's that?

  • Lockets are hard boiled sweets with a soft centre - usually eaten when you're suffering with a sore throat ie. common cold! And Lucozade is probably the most famous energy drink of all time - originally made by a Chemist in Newcastle to provide a boost to those people suffering with any illness. Hence why she might of been eating lockets and drinking Lucozade whilst watching Pigeon Street ie. off School! I remember it well myself.. can't believe there were only 13 episodes though! Incredible!

  • Here's why there were only 13 episodes: it was one of the first UK cartoons with multi racial characters, and the BBC didn't know how to commercialize the series. Bear in mind it was the 80's - all cartoons had merchandise, & the Beeb felt the public were not ready for black action figures...their loss.

  • @cloud9backpacker Oh yeah, me too! And Tunes and Heinz Cream Of Chicken Soup!

  • i still find this song floating about and sometimes find my self singing it in the shower for no reason.

p.s. long distance clara fucking rules.

  • I have every episode on dvd if ur interested PM me!

    x

  • All about the female lorry driver.A great role model for girls wanting to follow careers in the male dominated sectors :) Loved this theme tune.

  • Loved this! Who needs Coro Street when you have Pigeon Street!

  • I had a varied memory of this show, to start with I was terrified of it, i think the way the eyes of the character were really big and dark, and so i'm told (like the cliche) I literally hid behinfd the sofa!

Somewhere down the line i completely changed and this became my fave ever prog.

when i was at uni i got it from someone on eBay all episodes on dvd!

  • Who sings the theme song?

  • I suspect it's Derek Griffiths from Heads and Tails; Look and Read, etc. He seemed to do the lot

  • Damn, halcyon days!

  • I loved Pigeon Street. Used to watch it all the time 26 years ago as a 4 year old! I'm 30 now, I can still remember this intro and the Long Distance Clara song. Brilliant!

  • you need a korg M1 synthesizer

  • hahahaha youre probably insulting their parentage or something.

  • I used to love this tune

  • Pigeon Street must fucking stink.

  • lie the token pc black people, what a brainwashed childhood.

  • "coming over here, appearing in our cartoons".

Are you a daily mail reader?

  • No. I sometimes read the New Zealand herald but generally stay away from mainstream media.

  • @djwedgewood

    LO fucking L

  • @thestonesrock yeah, because it's not like black people actually existed in the early 1980s...

  • Brings back so many memories!

  • Yes is definitely does!! Pure nostalgia joy, here's to the good old days!!

  • I have all 13 episodes on dvd if anyone is interested?

  • It's amazing how as a child you never realise how few episodes there actually were of any given series.

  • know what you mean - to me this seemed to go on for years - bit like Bagpuss really

  • I want those days back sitting watching Pigeon Street with my son at three years old.

  • Classic! This & King Rollo, definately a sick day program haha :)

  • memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ha ha you are soo right!! as soon as it started it reminded me of when i used to be off school sick!

  • I don't know why but this reminds me of being off school sick

  • Mental!!!

  • I used to love that show! And I still whistle the tune at work sometimes too!

  • You can't really go wrong with that theme tune. What a great arrangement! Fantastic chords, melody and horns.

  • @NameNotaNumber Totally and utterly agree, is way more advanced than the electronic overproduced theme tunes we get nowadays on kids programmes. This was real quality music throughout. A lot of the band were jazzers, became the group known as the "Guest Stars"

  • 0.35 = 3 Tokens! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • remember my brother fancied long distance clara

  • I saw a woman the other day who looked like the woman in the red and white stripes - Freaky!!!

  • Those two pigeons were bullying that poor pigeon on the left at 0:05
