@pufarinu its called "flux" it helps with the wetting of solder, also by removing the oxides to help the solder and pad to connect better

excellent tutorial. I think this will be my main source for soldering a zero-force ZIF adaptor to my laptop. i'm a novice, but I think the same principle will apply? or am i totally wrong?
