  • The most hair raiseing scene in all of highlander... made my soul twitch when the peaceful pussy methos confesses that he is the nightmare from the bible.. and you can see his posture and his facial features change into truth of what he is.. Death

  • what epiode is that from I cant remeber

  • Peter Wingfield gives such an exceedingly brilliant and intense performance here and Adrian Paul almost screwed it up by bursting into laughter.

  • @nonamesleftdammit From the episode "Comes a Horseman" , season 5.

  • "I killed. But I didn't just kill fifty, I didn't kill a hundred. I killed a thousand. I killed TEN thousand! And I was good at it. And it wasn't for vengeance, it wasn't for greed. It was because... I liked it. Cassandra was nothing. Her village was nothing. Do you know who I was? I was Death. Death — Death on a horse. When mothers warned their children that the monster would get them, that monster was me. I was the nightmare that kept them awake at night. Is that what you want to hear?!"

  • Good acting by Peter Wingfield. He was under utilized in the series

  • a new series: highlander: the myth having methos caracter in the center...sounds good

  • I think the grimacing by Adrien is genius. It is what you do when your disgusted like u hate the smell and the presence around you cause it's foul. He detested the things Methos said. Good acting.

  • i keep coming back to this clip because it's amazing how subtle you can see the way Peter Wingfield gravitated from being "mild mannered Adam Pierson" to "5000 plus year old hell-bent-for-leather-mad-at-the-world immortal Methos aka Death" by voice alone.

  • He's what greeks would call "O Ghamias tis Geitonias".

  • Is this guy the man they call Methuselah in the Judaeo-Christian lore?

In the series, they say he's the oldest man..

  • Oooh, I love this show. Which makes it even sweeter that I just scored the entire series on DVD on EBAY for $100 bucks. YAHOO!!!!!!!!!

  • Aww, man, I can't believe someone put this scene up. You, sir, are the fuckin' man! It's one of Peter Wingfield and Adrian Paul's best scenes together. Well, time to get high and watch some highlander. OP is not a faggot.

  • Great scene

  • Did anyone else think that they were about to fight when they both threw their jackets in the car?

  • @kaufmj54 I Thought they were going to reenact a scene from broke back mountain....

  • Sadly they could have so much better with this scene. Oh well, it was the 90's...

  • Yeah, I have to agree. The whole "confession" seems flat. Adrian Paul shows his limited acting in this scene. His over exaggerate grimacing just makes me laugh.

  • Holy cheeseballs. I have just fallen in love with another TV show. I've heard about Highlander for years, seen Peter Wingfield here and there, and then finally decided to watch a clip. WOW. I need this show.

  • My all time favorite scene. :)

  • Another perfect Methos scene. My favorite Immortal besides Duncan.

  • Can I just say I ♥ Methos.

  • I agree mikhyel, Methos' Death voice sends shiver down my spine. But in a good way :P

  • I love seeing Methos get his Death Voice on. It's totally hot, and scary too.

  • I WAS DEATH !!!.........DEATH ON A HORSE !!!

  • It's too bad this show got written off as cheesy, cornball sci-fi. The vast majority of the show was 2 kool 4 skool.

  • When I first saw this I thought Duncan was going for his sword after he took his coat off. Kinda seems a bt odd to do that if he wasn't spoiling for a fight. Could be he was going to grab his sword but then decided it wasn't worth it?

  • Methos was one of my favorite immortals. I can't imagine anyone playing him but Peter Wingfield

  • methos is so badass

  • ok, so I haven't seen the third highlander movie or the tv-show so this question might come off as ignorant

but is the "mcloud" here the same "Mcloud" from the first two movies?

  • @Selana No. Same clan, MacLeod. But the movies were based on Connor MacLeod, and the TV show was based on Duncan MacLeod, who was raised in the clan a few generations after Connor. Connor did mentor him after he became immortal, and was in the first episode of the TV series.

  • @Kalista786

Thank you. I have only seen the first two movies and I plan to watch the tv series. This just confused me.

  • the horsemen episodes where the best, they should have made the rivalry between duncan and kronos longer over more episodes,

  • Duncan Judging Methos: Not really he was more angry at the idea of one of his new friends having so severly hurt one of his old friends and the idea that Methos did not tell him about this past of his.

I adore Methos and I really wish they had followed through on their Live Action Series plan. Peter Wingfield still looks the same.. which is a little creepy.. so he could still do it (Watch The Series 1 finale of Sanctuary he plays Watson)

  • Methos was the most complex character of that tv show had so many nuances,

  • Duncan always knew that if Methos ever wanted to he could have killed him.

  • i think this scene was filmed under the cambie street bridge, can anyone confirm this?

  • One of my favorite scenes from the series. Another is at the end of this episode and Duncan asks Methos, "What about Cassandra?"

Methos replies, "One of a thousand regrets," as he and Duncan walk off in opposite direction.

I know I'm not alone in wishing they'd spun off Methos into his own series instead of Amanda. Thanks for posting.

  • Methos is not only the oldest, but also the wisest immortal, the ultimate survivor.

  • @Vostokification

Proof of that vast wisdom was, towards the end of The Source, he allowed Duncan to be "The One"..

  • It was because....i liked it!! chaotic evil!!! niiiiiice!

  • Great acting, and the background music/sounds are also perfect the whole clip! <3

  • The nicest guy in the cast turns out to be the biggest prick. Gotta love it.

  • Like Methos said, dude, it was different times.

  • welche staffel und welche folge ist das in deutsch, kann mir das jemand sagen....danke im vorraus

  • @leilaluebeck

das ist "reiter der apokalypse", staffel 5, ep 11 (wenn ich mich nicht irre)

  • Probally one of the coolest moments on the show. We all love Methos. The man that's so old he can't even remember when he was born.

  • @jayce79 I don't think anybody can remember that, but maybe you're talking about the year.

  • @MasterMacLeod

Yeah, he does'nt remember exactly how old he is. He told Mac that all he can rememberf is 5,000 yrs. Anything before that is just a blur.

  • @jayce79 considering I cant even remember what I ate two days ago, thumbs up for the man :D

  • The way i see it the mind is a mystery and powerful organ, living as long as some for these immortals would mean sooner or later your gonna play all the roles of life, wheather your saving lives or taking them.

  • Colon Mcleod's story was best ^_^

  • I wonder how it must be acting like this and after the call "Cut" you go back to lunch..

  • Excellent pont. Really makes you think. Just shows how great this show was and how everyone involved in its prduction were dedicated and talented professionals.

  • thanks for posting. Have a nice week

  • @Aiofe09 A lot of actors find it very hard to get over scenes like this - you catch them beying by themselves more afterwards, or having trouble getting out of bed. But it's the accepted price to pay for acting, most of the time.

  • 10,000 people a year over 1000 years is only ten a year... it's more than he raped and plundered and -enjoyed- it. MacLeod is a boy scout though- he should see that the world has changed in 400 years, imagine how it has changed in 5000 years, and how Methos would have to change with. (And does anyone else read Methos as Metho-os, not Mee-thos, or is it just me?)

  • Comment removed

  • Well its the Greek word ΜΥΘΟΣ (pronounced like Mithos) . Not Meeeethos Neither Methooos just Mithos. Means --Legend-- or something Fictionary That does not exists

  • 10000 each year over 1000 years is 10 million. Are you stupid?

  • lol, was just about to leave the same comment until i saw yours.

  • that'll teach those jackets to fuck with them!

  • wow, you know those two are pissed when they take off their jackets and throw it in the car...

  • I'm more of a Richie fan but I'm totally blown away with this Methos scene...

  • What a powerful scene and acting! Bravo!

  • Peter Wingfield is one of the most underused and underappreciated actors in the business.

  • Oh dear, dear Methos *fans self* His moral ambiguity is just WONDERFUL and he just oozes intensity (and sexuality as long as we're being honest -- no WONDER people slashed him with Duncan). And this scene is Methos being his most Methos-y ... LOVE me some Peter Wingfield!

  • I love Methos, and how Peter plays him. This was the episode when the fans all realized, Methos was not a nice little pacifist is his 5000 years.

    Just Love it!

  • Oh I love these scene. It is one of my favourite scene in the Highlander series. The character "Methos" ist so mysterious, and Peter Wingfield plays him very very great!! The best Methos ever ;-)

  • Love it! Simply, love it!

  • Methos is such a fascinating character and Peter Wingfield plays him suberbly! I really wish there had been a Methos spin off series.

  • (cont) said deed

just like a hypocrit christian can justify killing "witch hunts" or lieing"white lies ie stork or lololol jesus"

everyones veiw of ethics and morality serve there own purpose

    as it should

  • @killgore333333

Spoken like a TRUE evil person.....(who is in the closet, Evil-wise....and who is not trying to appearf OBVIOUSLY evil)..

With that logic you just presented....it would also be nothing wrong with RAPING or Molesting a kid...just becuz YOU personally..somehow constructing an excuse on why YOU beleive its okay....which would then make it Okay.

SMH @ that......but yes, i caught ur Evil Ass lol.

But anyway i just HAD 2 respond to that, but good luck to ya, Peace

  • @SurreallTV what the hell are you on about? i was saying everything is subjective and it is not that i personally believe in anything.

Do you believe its ok to molest and rape a kid?

If so thats peachy keen but if you point a finger and say i do those horrible things ill defend my honor and if you try to attack the children in my family or friends family i will kill you .

thats where i stand i said nothing that makes me a vilain you on the otherhand have some explaining to do

  • @SurreallTV everything is subjective and what is right here may be wrong in another culture i was NEVER explaining where my morals lay .

Here are my morals i treat others the way i would want to be treated and i dont judge others or bother others unless they attack me or my loved ones be it verbally or physically simple as that.

everything is subjective and changes with the times culture and person, did you know that the bible encouraged rape and polygamy thats a fucked up book >

  • @killgore333333 in my personal oppinion but alot of people follow that book which i personally consider evil, the world is subjective we arent a herd of single celled organisms that follow the same basic program and we arent bees in a colony we are humans capable of critical thinking and the debate of what is evil and good is a prime example of this , you called me evil and to you i am but to my loved ones and myself im not that means that we are both right you think im evil and i

  • @killgore333333 think im a good guy and that you are a idiot SurreallTV

  • @SurreallTV Raping kids was not considered that evil in the middle-ages (except for the extra-marrital sex thingie), not evil at all if you were married with the kid (in the sense of 12-13 year olds). Talking to your pets was considered way more evil since it implied witchcraft, as it was just having pets for company and not for wool, meat, eggs, milk, guarding livestock, killing pests etc...

  • @DINDRAGON most of time back then you were married by the time you were in your early teens. women in their 20's were considered washed up and too old to have children. They became handmaidens then.

  • wow, this scene is SO powerful. The way Peter plays this is remarkable... and his laugh! Chills, I tell ya...

  • God I love Peter Wingfield. I really don't get why they didn't give Methos his own series. I mean I like Amanda, but a show about Methos would have been so much more interesting. It probably would have lasted more than a year, too.

  • Perhaps Methos remembers those bloody times when Elves fought with Sauron...maybe immortals are elves who rescued their heritage sending their children into the future...

  • ...and surely what MacLeod does is pointless, because old Methos ceased to exist ages ago.

  • It's not about being good or bad, it's about what you do once you realize your mistakes.

Of course you can always say someone is evil because the world is oh so cruel, possibly that is also 99 percent true. But there are evil people with evil intentions nonetheless, and the necessity to deal with that. Actually Methos seems to think so himself ("The Messenger"). Times were different, right. Good thing to be an immortal. Sorry I'm just tired to hear about poor deceived Methos of Bronze Age...

  • what is evil thats subjective there are no universal laws/truths

    about morality

and your mainstream morality is worthless

its up to you to decide whats right or wrong afterall its your label

a avenger would kill a mans familly because that man did so to him

the avenger would consider it right

but what would the sole surviving son of the age 8 say about it

    there is no right

    there is no wrong

you may say both were incorrect but thats your oppinion and it defers from the person commiting

  • But once times changed he proved he was a kind man, remember how he was ready to sacrifice himself in order to give MacLeod the power to kill evil Kallas, the episodes with Alexa were beyound words, even the scene of stealing in Methusaleh's gift in which he holds the cat so gently those scenes say so much about him. A man who helps a dying man to live his last moments in happiness and is so gentle with animals can't be evil. After all The Horsemen have done to him he still feels sorry for Silas

  • This scene is fantastic. I think Methos is one the most profound and intelligent film characters ever. I saw all over the video comments judging him as being somehow evil but they miss one thing: this part of his life was far too long ago, in an age of violence and killing, everyone was the same then, he was hunted by people because of his immortality and in that cruel world The Horsemen were the only one that accepted him, and he accepted their ways

  • the juden kill many men and childrens and women...maybe your grandfather was a saint, but he was failed.

  • I had a similar conversation many years ago with my grandfather. He was a member of the SS during WW2 with a high ranking. Well -- he was the man who taught me a lot about nearly everything. I never heard him saying racist things or something like that!! But I knew and know that his past was hunting him until the day he died!! But somehow I don`t want to blame him..I know he was a good man!! But even good men are weak sometimes!!! Unfortunately!!

  • All hail the Blue Faced Love God! Definitely one of the best scenes with Methos and Mac.

We get to see just how judgemental Mac really is, while Methos shows that he's accepted this piece of his past and had tried to move beyond it. Great Work!

  • Mac disappointed me in this clip. For someone who was a drunk and a slob in his past, he sure has no room to talk about dirty laundry.

  • You`re damn right!! I guess even a screenwriter for a fantasy show is overstrained with "slipping" into the mind of an immortal!! Reaching an age of 400 years you would have seen EVERYTHING possible. And, of course, you would be much more able to forgive mistakes of others than a normal, mortal human being would be.

  • Exactly. Methos has been alive longer than written history. The world was totally different in those days. How can Mac just dump his buddy so quickly for mistakes he made 5000 yrs ago? He has obviously changed.

  • Methos is such a well written and well played character.People know he was a monster as death but they still love him!

  • Well, he did spend centuries trying to redeem himself.

  • i love methos!

  • Awesome scene though with Methos!

one of my top ten best scene from the series as well though : )

  • Methos was the best character on the series by a long way. Duncan was too goody-two-shoes all the time, like in one episode where he wouldn't kill Kristin even though she was killing mortals (and I think tried to kill Ritchie).

  • Methos was nothing short of godly on the show.

  • Amazing scene!! Shows the dark side of Methos and makes the character more human at the same time!!

  • I think he was having a guilt induced psychotic moment, sort of wishing Duncan would take his head.

  • Who thought Duncan was going for his sword?

  • elder son of a b... just like the ashigaru mercenaries from japan

  • If they had fought here, I think Methos would have won.

  • gave me chills... methos was awesomely scary here.

  • It's great to see this clip. I always thought that Methos was trying to push MacLeod away for the Highlander's safety.

  • This show was severly under appreciated. I miss it a lot. The movies killed the franchise. Methos is my favorite character out of any book, tv show or movie.

  • the answer is yes.....

  • f**k methos rule

  • yep, he f**king does. his origins are somehow similar to EN SABA NUR...also known as APOCALYPSE from the XMEN franchise...ya know, before that idiots at Fox ruined it...

  • i saw methos on xman 2 as soldier of well the bad guys hes like a sarge or LT

  • irrelevant...but yes the guy is an actor...so a movie has actors hehehe.

  • hauhua methos was hired to kill mutants huahuahuaha bwahahaha bad joke but i like

  • X-men 2...

  • Ahh...

The scene that ended their friendship.

    ...for a while anyway.

The Horsemen episodes were my favorites of the show. Great stuff. It added voluumes to Methos' character. It actually made sense that a 5000 year old immortal would have had different values than he would now.

  • OH!! This is my favorite scene in all of Highlander. Peter Wingfield is such an amazing actor.

I had a shirt made with "When mother's warned their children that the monster would get them, that monster was me" on it. Get's rave reviews!

  • But how many puppies did Methos kick? :O

  • less then me i love to kick puppies and kittens. methos is my idol

  • That scene was perfect! Finding out that Methos was one of the legendary four housemen was the coolest!!! The rest of the immortals are like children to them. This was one of the best episodes ever!!!!

  • Best Scene of the whole series PERIOD!!! He dosent whant to say it but MacLeod dosent give him a choice

    And that laugh ...

  • Oh my God - The Horsmen Episodes were always my favorites. And Methos *sigh* when he showed up first in the Series I realy got addicted.

@ amforbes I think there is a release in the UK for season 5 and in Germany there are boxes for season 1 - 4 out untill now. Both are region 2 boxes maybe that tidbit of information helps. ;)

  • One of my most favorite Highlander scenes. "The answer is yes... oh yes..." -shiver-

  • I love this scene, and I've loved the show since the first episode. Still, I didn't think this really fit with MacLeod's character. It seems like he should have been more forgiving from the beginning. He's educated enough to know that the enitre world was different *three thousand years* ago. He should also be able to tell, during this confession, that Methos feels absolutely terrible about what he did, even after so long.

  • definately my favorite charachter of the show.

  • I agree. MacLeod is a great character, sure; they really could have screwed up with this show, but they didn't. Still, he's a bit of a goody two shoes, despite the complexity they throw in with some of his past escapades. Methos is kind of a balancing agent. He's genuinely dark and conflicted and imperfect. Remember when he helped kill the other horsemen? "I killed Silas! I LIKED Silas!"

  • Or when he killed Joan Jett's character. "Who are you?" "I am a man who was born long before the age of chivalry." Ha.

  • i love methos! he's amazing and peter wingfield did a great job in this scene. :)

  • Thank you for posting this scene. It shows that Duncan ist very disappointed about Methos. And Methos had to play the bad side of him like an actor. Really good.

  • I love the show why the hell won't they release the box sets on region two!

  • I actually thought methos and duncan where gonna have it out seeing em taking off there jackets...awsome show I bought all the box sets recently

  • thought so too. i know metho's whole rant in this part by heart.

  • One of Tv's All Time "FAN"TASTIC" Shows...xo

  • THat scene was awesome, but I find it difficult for Duncan to judge Methos, since he kind of did that like I don know a long time ago. Also its not like Duncan hasn't himself left a body count before in his 430 year lifespan it only just that Methos has him like almost 4 times his age.

  • To be fair though, Duncan killed other Immortals. Methos slaughtered a village.

  • its also the time of period it was in

  • Ducan killed plenty of mortals in the days after culloden....every bit as bad in the time frame as the horsemen

  • Very intense, and a surprising twist of Methos, kick ass storyline!!!

  • Wow I love it when Methos drops the Adam Pierson act and becomes Methos. When he talks about being Death on a pale horse man he just gets slightly creepy. But man do I love this scene it was doen so well by both actors. Highlander is one the best shows ever!

  • Man I didn't expect that! I always thought Methos was somewhat of a torturned soul trying to find peace with relegon-but this jeez!

  • Now you kind of see why he is trying to find penace for what he did a long time ago isn't it.

  • You have a good point, Monkjoe

  • That and also like he said the times were different, so his actions were expected since it was kill or be killed. Also since the fact that in the past immortals were more in danger of lossing there heads than now a days. Since the technique's were chop off a limb in combat, or off with his head

  • Very True.

  • i love it !!!

highlander is the best show ever!!!

  • Anyone else think it was really crappy of Cassandra to involve Duncan in her spat with Methos? I do!

  • ooooh! The Jimmy Scene ....I love it...I haven even been to the location in Vancouver where they filmed it.

  • Love this scene. Always wondered why both men take off their coats at the end--were they sweating through the intensity of the confrontation? Or was it symbolic of Duncan washing his hands of Methos? Or maybe it's just not comfortable to drive in your bulky coat... :)

  • I think to show that they have no weapons or had none at the time.

  • yeah wtf was up with them taking of their jackets? That was weird.

  • I think part of it was that Methos wanted Duncan to leave, so he wouldn't be in Kronos' path. That's just my opinion. I love Methos. I don't care if he's a Mass murderer. It was so long ago!

  • I loved this scene! I'll never forget the first time I saw it. It was beautifully done between the two actors, especially watching Methos' wig-out and Mac's heartbroken face. As to my opinions of the two's friendship, didn't Mac wind up getting past Methos' past at some point? But to find out your friend was a mass murderer and enjoyed it...hoo, I never want to be in that situation.

  • Duncan got over it when he remembered that he was not Mr. Perfect and that he, too, was a mass murderer.

  • I agree. Must be hard to be them! LOL.

  • I agree a very well done scene. And is it just me or is it slightly creepy when Methos stops being Adam and becomes Methos and starts talking about being Death?

  • Peter was superb as Methos. This scene still gives me chills.

  • I agree. I feel that this scene really allowed him to shine as an actor.

  • Mcloud is a baby compared to Methos. What Methos did was really shitty, but he changed.I wonder who Duncan Mcloud would be in 4 to 5 thousand years.Surely he would change for worse at some point.

  • Not to mention the fact that Duncan is a hypocrite!

  • When did Duncan become holier than thou? I mean com'on, the man was over 5000 years old. He came from a war torn planet that did nothing but kill, kill , and kill more.

  • Methos made the series for me. I mean for the eldest of the immortals , he proved just how human they actually were. Props to Peter Wingfield for bringing the charcater to life, because I'm not sure anyone else could have played it so well.

One thing though, I would have loved to have seen a meeting between Methos and Darius (previous to Darius' murder of course), that would have been quite the exchange I think...

  • It was shocking for me when Methos was revealed as one of the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse and that he butchered and murdered thousands of people across two continents. That part of him was destroyed almost 2,000 years later when he found peace. I guess no one is perfect. Not even Duncan MacLeod.

  • my favorite imortal

  • i find it funny how he revered Darius..who was just as bad but did not change by choice (a light quickening) but cant forgive methos who did change by choice...one of the many reasons i dont like duncan much

  • Yeah! You do you think is more worthy of forgiveness? Even if he HAD the right to JUDGE Methos, which I don't think he does! His past is FAR from clean, as we saw in Forgive Us Our Trespasses! There's a name for someone like him, a HYPOCRITE!

  • Not You. Who of course. Who do you think is more worthy of forgiveness?

  • Besides, MacLeod always seems to need an excuse for killing a good guy. Ok, Sean Burns was because of the Dark Quickening... Richie Ryan was because of Ahriman... And Connor was because???? He could have dropped the sword no? Not many 'GOOD' Immortals manage to kill their STUDENT and their TEACHER!

  • Me either :-) At least I hope I'll never grow OLD :-) And I understood what you meant, don't think that I didn't... Something like this... Real honor is rare, false interpretation of honor is unfortunately very common, as in MacLeod's case, that's what got us disagreeing, the more I get to know him the less I like him... I think he's an hypocrite! Well, I actually enjoyed having this conversation with you... at the end, mind you :-) So you take care, Ok? :-)

  • Did you get this? It's starting to get a little bit confusing even to me... lol
