You're still a bit low. There are about 50,000 kanji plus a few 10,000s more of extremely obscure kanji.

To the previous guy: the 2,000 you speak of are the Jōyō kanji that Japanese students learn. There's quite a shitton more that most (Japanese) people don't really know or use.

...although the game can hardly be called a simulation game, despite it taking place in a realistic scenario. The gameplay itself is very arcade-oriented and tests the players reflexes and math (assessing time, speed and distance.) People who are fascinated with trains but don't care about the mundane details will probably like the series.

I doubt it. There hasnt been one for ANY of the other versions of this series. Altho i too wish I could play this. I got the PC version of one of the other Lets go by Train games and it works fine on any language PC. Problem with the Wii (or any other console game) is the NTSC and PAL settings and region coding.. :(

Taito's "Let's go by Train" and "Let's go by Airliner" are both very popular games in Japan. The challenge in any sim game is to complete the tasks that would be apparent in the real life situation. Keeping on schedule, navigating, maintaining speed, etc. It might not be a game for you, but lots of people like these games.

My 2nd experience to buy "Densha de Go!" series. 1st is "Densha de Go! 2 (1999)" on PlayStation.

The player becomes very nervous and tired by playing past versions. I think they ware suitable for "Densha Otaku" factual.

I like to see Shinkansen. But I'm not "Densha Otaku". I felt awkward and gave up to play soon.

But, Wii version feels very fine. ATC (Automatic Train Control) assist to me very very well when switch to "Real mode ON" in Preferences.

And I diverts myself by "Kids mode" also fun.
