WOW! 10.000 views/ This was perhaps the most fun video I have done. I thank all of you who have viewed this video, those who visited my channel, and those gracious enough to leave a comment! You have inspired me to be creative and you keep You Tube a free place;
@PinballMars This much is very true. I did add the German Phrase at the beginning. I wanted Mickey to introduce the song courtesy of a new piece of software called Crazy Talk. I couldn't think of anything to say, so in the infamous words of Def Leppard.....
You sir, are absolutely correct. Their first album, "Woofer in Tweeters Clothing" was released in 1968. This was a compilation of Demo Recordings released on a Self Label, akin to vanity press for authors to publish books, and is largely considered as a Demo. In 1971 on Bearsville Records halfnelson is released. This same album is released again in 1972 under the name "Sparks". 1972 also saw the re-release of "A Woofer in Tweeter's Clothing". 1974 is the turning point for Sparks.
Coming on the Death of Disco, and in the midst of the 'New Wave' movement I think it could be argued that Sparks defined that era in music. Check out an old movie called 'Rollercoaster'. Sparks is this band playing at the amusement park, doing a rendition of 'This Town Ain;t Big Enough'
@vants99 I had forgotten about that. I insist that Sparks is as important as the New York Dolls for its influence. Music as performance art within a small television window. Vastly underrated. Shows the power of the emerging music video era,
@jwalabama Yes I would agree the NY Dolls had their roll as much as the Ramones, The Go Gos, if only to mainstream a sound, the Talking Heads and Hell, The B52's while were at it. Aw what inspiration for this generation to pull from?????? and we got...What??? ok give to Panic at the Disco, Anberlin, and a host of other crossovers, It seems that every generation will have its cross to bear. We had Disco so let the young-uns deal with rap
Where does the German bit at the beginning come from? It's probably of no interest to anyone else but I've heard it before and now it's bugging me to know from where!
The German part at the begining is the opening phrase from a song by Def Lepard. Not sure which song but I believe it is on either the Pyromania Album of Hysteria.
@sgtcrabfat Yes he does as a matter of fact. he Really enjoys SPARKS too! J/K He is actually spitting chew tobacco. Of course long before Camel Joe was busted for marketing to children. Thanks for the comments
You've in all probability heard this many times, but: Epic.

FYI: The German phrase at the beginning is not on the Sparks record. The maker of this video added that.

@vants99 Ah, thanks, that must be it because I listened to those albums a lot many years ago. I wonder is it actually German?
looseSpark 1 year ago
@vants99 The Offspring used it too, in Pretty Fly For A White Guy.

Sparks has been one of the most prolithic, yet overlooked, bands ever. It was only right to do this song
