Su 35 has R 37 and K100 also R77M1 (all above 150km of range) and powerful radar( same as Su 27SM2 Irbis E with 400km of range). Dogfight: Su 35 has much better maneuverability features than EF.

It takes time to work out all the bugs. If you recall, even its 1st flight was several years from originally planned.

The Russians concluded much as did the United States about the need for aircraft that could turn with Second World War prop planes yet hit Mach 2 with a full air-to-air missile load. The Su-27/33/37 can hold its own against anything other than the F-22 as a result. (Minimal radar observability of targets wasn't an issue for either Sukhoi or MiG, as of the 1970's.)

The best US radar is APG 77 with 250km and the best projectile (for now) AIM 120 with (some source claim) 105km. On the other side best russian radar is Irbis E with 400km of range and one of the best projectiles are R77M1 - 160km R 33 - 200km (not sure) , R 37-398km, K100 (possibly 400km) - more than 200km

@1337wafflezz F15 is a powerful fighter jet but the SU-27 was built as a response to the F-15...with higher ceiling, more faster speeds, and much better maneuverability, you are looking at a 10:1 win for SU-27 vs F-15. Only the F-22 can bring this beauty down due to the stealth advantage.

@sirwann su is two times bigger than mig plus the mig has lots of differences just compare image of mig 29 and su 27 and you will see it. Both planes are much different and have much different aerodynamics, they just look alike because they have two engines and intakes consoles below and wide apart.

Pilots count around 60%.

If your plane gets targeted from 150km away and missile is fired at you from that distance you have to go into defensive mode. If your enemy can shoot at you before you can shoot at him you are at disadvantage this is where technology counts.

But in real Combat, we would already kill them BVR. The most modern russian Radar could track the F-22 at ~90km. But the F-22 could track a SU-30MKI at 460km. That's a huge advantage! An excellent Pilot could outmaneuver a Missle, and could kill the superior plane with a inferior pilot.

If you look closely, there is a nozzle for the cannon. When it fires, it creates a large flame that would damage and rip off the paint anyway so they left it unpainted.
the camera man seems to be more interested in the engines than the plane :p

@jonesy97 Everyone has their opinion. I find F-15 beautiful, but i also like Su-27 and most other Sukhois. However only a Russian fanboy will say things like "Su-27 is a hundred times more deadly than F-15" , especially knowing the F-15 combat record.

@danm981 Yes against planes with 50km radar and R 73 missiles and R 60 missiles. No F-15 had ever fought against real Su 27 like Su 27 SM2 with 400km of radar and R 77, R 37, R 33 missiles. The best US radar is APG 77 with 250km and the best projectile (for now) AIM 120 with (some source claim) 105km. On the other side best russian radar is Irbis E with 400km of range and one of the best projectiles are R77M1 - 160km R 33 - 200km (not sure) , R 37-398km, K100 (possibly 400km) - more than 200km

@1337wafflezz F15 is a powerful fighter jet but the SU-27 was built as a response to the F-15...with higher ceiling, more faster speeds, and much better maneuverability, you are looking at a 10:1 win for SU-27 vs F-15. Only the F-22 can bring this beauty down due to the stealth advantage.

@sirwann su is two times bigger than mig plus the mig has lots of differences just compare image of mig 29 and su 27 and you will see it. Both planes are much different and have much different aerodynamics, they just look alike because they have two engines and intakes consoles below and wide apart.

@zaffe93 You talk as if you actually got to fly one. No the SU-27 was one of the most maneuverable jets when it came out. It's more maneuverable than the f-15 and f-16. The SU-37 , which is an SU-27 with 3D thrust vectoring is as, if not more maneuverable than the late F-22.

The pipe between the nozzles, firstly has the role of carring the brake parachute after touchdown aswell as an aerodynamic effect at high speed reducing drag, thus allowing for a higher top speed to be obtained...!

There are a few scattered around for sale...if your looking for a 90% lean military/combat run engine it will cost you a good 4.5 million dollars...not a bad price for a very reliable piece of aircraft technology.

You can kill a F-22 with a MIG-21, you can kill a PAK FA with a F4. You can kill a iraqi AK-47 gunner with a M4 Rifle, you can kill a M4 Gunner with a AK-47 Rifle. The Human is the Weapon, the Plane is just the equipment, they don't shoot & fly alone.

As the matter of fact Russian AF general invited USAF for a friendly matchup or a friendly duel between SU aircraft against any USAF aircraft. USAF refused this offer. They refused because they knew there was a substantial probability that they will lose a duel against Su in F22 and would later have to explain why a 200 million dollar plane is beaten by a 80million dollar plane. Pilots count around 60%.

@TankNutJohn89 You can be an excellent pilot but if you are in a plane that can't catch up with a manouvre against your enemy you are dead. If your plane gets targeted from 150km away and missile is fired at you from that distance you have to go into defensive mode. If your enemy can shoot at you before you can shoot at him you are at disadvantage this is where technology counts.

@Ouija121085: We wouldn't accept a friendly matchup, it's like showing tactics to the enemy, showing your ability. We can't keep up in Dogfights, the british Typhoons have beaten F-15's & F-22's. But in real Combat, we would already kill them BVR. The most modern russian Radar could track the F-22 at ~90km. But the F-22 could track a SU-30MKI at 460km. That's a huge advantage! An excellent Pilot could outmaneuver a Missle, and could kill the superior plane with a inferior pilot.

Second if eurofigher or F15 won a duel against F22 it would be the end of USAF as tonnes of inquiries would pour in why "inferior" aircraft managed against 200million dollar stated invincible plane? even if eurofigther or F15 did beat F22 you would never know about it EVER.

@TankNutJohn89 And furthermore F22 did lose a simulated duel against chinese made copies of Su27, which by the way only look like Su27 while the preformance of Su27 and chinese copy are massive. Even this diluted Su27 managed in mock up simulaton to defeat F22 by actually attacking and destroying refuling tankerplane and then without even engaging F22 dissapeared, while F22 ran out of fuel and could not continue engagement due to low fuel supply. F22 has a problem with low fuel.

If you look closely, there is a nozzle for the cannon. When it fires, it creates a large flame that would damage and rip off the paint anyway so they left it unpainted.
