I keep coming back to this video. I've felt a strange connection to this song, though I don't understand the words; my grandparents emigrated from there to Canada in 1902. When I found out it was written 150 years ago, it sort of made sense. To really understand what Origa did here, listen to some other performances of the same song. She's amazing.

I'm not huge into anime. However, I think Ghost in the Shell was to coin a phrase "friggin' awesome". One of the first things that caught my attention about it was the opening theme "rise". I'd never heard of Yoko Kano or Origa prior to then, but once I heard the combination of Yoko's composing ability and Origa's amazing voice I knew I had come across something pretty epic. And to this day, neither has disappointed. Elegance and grace. Her voice was made to be heard.
